25.01.2022 Monday ended up being a big day for us. One of our large 60 kg green turtles, Martha has not been a well turtle since she came in. We decided she needed more investigations so we took her to Broome Vets for X-rays and blood tests. Moving such a big turtle is no mean feat. Fortunately our helpers Brad and Kiwi came to the rescue. After numerous X-rays we found she had some faecal blockage but also lots of fluid causing Oedema (swelling) to her right side. Thanks to Dr Peter Nugroho and Vet nurse Anja for their assistance. We are continuing antibiotics and pain relief and monitoring her closely. Broome Veterinary Hospital

25.01.2022 While we are on a role with second chances. This little tyke was rescued from mummy's pouch after the lovely Nigel Jackett witnessed mum being struck by a car. Weighing in at 113g she will be named Jaime after Nigel's wife. Feeding well and loving a cuddle. The joey that is.

22.01.2022 After releasing 6 rehabbed animals last weekend (1 possum, 2 marine turtles, 1 whistling kite and 2 sea snakes) we have had a hectic few days with the arrival of 6 new animals (3 marine turtles, 2 sea snakes and 1 black kite.) What quiet weekend? Thanks to Katy Davis the vet from Karratha Vets for the two Hawksbill turtles and driving them up to Broome.
22.01.2022 Thank you to Michael Leake from Habitat Resort for rescuing this beautiful Frill-necked lizard. Appears to have had a mishap with a vehicle and sporting a head injury. Already eating well after 2 days in care.
22.01.2022 We would like to sincerely thank NARB volunteers and Broome Volunteer Fire and Rescue members for giving up their time today to help us fundraise for our turtle rehabilitation project. It was a great turnout and a mammoth effort by all involved. From the bottom of our heart we thank all whom contributed to the fundraising effort.
21.01.2022 Dropped out to the Pilbara Fish truck yesterday to stock up on turtle food. We received a very pleasant surprise that an "anonymous donor" had pre paid for 15kg of squid for our turtles. We purchased another 20kg to last until the Fish Truck's next visit on 21/22 December. Thanks to Scott and the kind donor. Much appreciated.
21.01.2022 We had a pleasant surprise yesterday with a visit from the Hon. 20.01.2022 We received this little cutie today from Beagle Bay. It is an Australian Owlet Nightjar. They are a nocturnal bird but spend the daytime sitting motionless on the ground relying on their camouflage colouration to avoid detection by predators. UPDATE: RIP little buddy 5/7/20. We try our best but we cant win them all.

17.01.2022 The Broome Turtle Retreat and Spa is not destined to be empty. No guests for a whole week and then Kaisha arrived Sunday morning. A young 7 kg Green Turtle found floating near the mangroves in Dampier Creek. She was rescued and brought in by 2 kayakers, Josh and Stan. Kaisha appears to be suffering from Floaters Syndrome and a possible run in with a shark. Missing her rear left flipper, a lacerated front left flipper and a badly lacerated right rear flipper, and covered in ba...rnacles she is looking very flat. Now in care and being treated with antibiotics the recovery process has commenced. Thanks to Josh and Stan for rescuing her.
