25.01.2022 Does life mimic yoga or does yoga mimic life? My favourite thing about this practice is, the answer can be both and neither at the same time. There are few absolutes and no contradictions. Only reality, in all of its nonsensical glory. Let your mind be blown. Its the closest we can ever get to understanding this existence.

23.01.2022 There are basically 2 things I do when I get home from work. 1. Take off my pants, 2. Move my body. . . Last week at a workshop with @truthrobinson, I learned that our bodies essentially morph to whatever positions we maintain the most and for most of us, that means sitting, slumped forward. Not only does that feel pretty terrible on the body but the body language itself is also quite depressing, literally. Our brain responds to our posture. So if we are holding a slouched an...d tired posture all day, sitting becomes more exhausting than exercise because it tells the brain we are tired. Then we rely on coffee to vamp our energy but it just zaps our adrenals and messes with our hormones so we are even more tired. We end up coming home from work, sitting on the couch and zoning out with the tv. Over time, that can lead to depression or feeling pretty blue and then we never move...The system is ass backwards!! So, if youve been slouching all day, I know youre tempted to just sit on the couch when you get home, but I promise you, if you push past that resistance and do just a little movement or stretching, you will feel HEAPS better both immediately and in the long run. Give it a try... you can even keep scrolling if you want, but move yo ass!! . . . . 23.01.2022 Viparita Karani: viparita meaning "inverted" or "reversed", and karani meaning "doing" or "making. So, literally, this posture is the inverse of doing and the reverse of making. Aka: Being unmade. Yes, today was definitely a legs up a tree, being unmade kind of day. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, too, sweeties. 22.01.2022 Sometimes I can’t even believe that I get to live a life so full of riches. Yes, I quit my secure job as a lawyer 4 years ago and anytime we have any money in the bank we spend it ALL on travel, have nothing to our names and usually have to decide between eating out at a nice restaurant or buying a new surfboard (the latter usually wins) but so what? 60-70 hours work weeks were typical for me 4 years ago. I was also eating take out for every meal, extremely anxious and depres...sed, and boozing it up almost daily. Now, I work half the time, make half the income and feel 100 times richer. I’m not saying you have to quit your job and run away (that’s got its own traps!! All of which I was caught in at one point or another in the last 4 years.) More simply, it’s all about our choices and mindset. Every day is a gift. Everywhere you go can be a paradise. Everyone you meet can be a soul mate. Everything you do can be enjoyable. Every meal you eat can taste like ambrosia. It’s as simple as choosing to see your temporary existence as a blessing, not a curse! The more you feel gratitude for this life, the more blessed you will feel. Even washing the dishes can become a delight. X See more

If you resist it or cling to it, that energy doesnt stop. It moves around inside of you, creating all sorts of inner turmoil. Release and relax when you feel the energies moving inside of you. 19.01.2022 Perception is deception. What we experience with the senses is merely a construct of the mind’s interpretation of the raw data of existence. The mind, like photoshop, has filters and hundreds of editing tools, which alter the entire image to appear completely different to reality. That’s why when you believe you are separate from all that you experience in this world. Like virtual reality, we go through life with only half truths about the nature of ourselves and everythin...g we experience. Practice leads to removing these filters and edits to see the true nature of things and the ultimate truth that there is no separation. All that we perceive is a direct reflection of our minds. We are constantly looking into a mirror. Yoga is a method of cleansing the mirror to see clearly ourselves reflected in all things. I am you. You are me. X . . . . 19.01.2022 A huge part of the joy in life is letting go of the reins and seeing where you end up. Tonight was my last night of teaching yoga for a while. That also means Im taking a break from the insta-face-life. See you all on the flip side. Xx

19.01.2022 Basically, when I wake up, I do 2 things: 1. I put on my robe and 2. I sit quietly. This doesnt always happen and it doesnt always look like this. Sometimes I just go into the meditation space and lay down with an eye pillow. Sometimes I stretch. Sometimes I sleep in and dont have time. Sometimes I sit for 10 minuets other times I sit for 30. Sometimes I listen to music or guided meditations. Sometimes I sit silently. Nearly every time. My mind is already busy with thought...s, even just after 5 minutes of being awake! If I dont sit quietly each morning, not even meditate, but sit quietly, theres a big difference in the flow of my day. Things feel stuck and it takes longer for things to pass through. I feel agitated and distracted and there are a million things that pull me into them. Try it and see what happens for you when you start your day like this. What changes. Tomorrow morning when you wake up, before you do anything else, sit quietly (or lay down, awake but not moving) for however long you can right when you start your day. Then try it again the next day and the next. Making big shifts in your life doesnt require a big gesture. It just requires you to make good choices. Have a lovely day, lovers. See more

They are simply making you feel better or worse about what is going on now, what has gone on in the past, or what might go on in the future... You will someday come to see that there is no use for that incessant internal chatter, and there is no reason to constantly attempt to figure everything out. 07.01.2022 So Ive been blogging a bit about goals and manifesting lately and thought Id give some insight into why I have any authority on that. I mean, if you were to ask me what skills I have with manifesting Id answer you with a resounding none! But if I actually think about my life, where Ive come from and where I am now, it goes against every low-self-esteem patterning Ive got weaving through me, but Id have to admit, Ive come pretty damn far and manifested basically every...thing Ive ever wanted prior to now. I am from a small town in the middle of America. Diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and dealing with it with drugs and alcohol. I dropped out of university after my first year and things got even worse before they got better. Thanks to some very good friends and some strong willpower, I went back to university, finished with a top scoring thesis and went on to practice immigration law and became a yoga teacher. Almost every cold winter night, Id dream of living on a beach and having a tropical life doing what I love and spending time with inspiring people. Fast forward just 4 years later and here I am, living my dream. Of course I still get set back constantly with my own self limiting beliefs and with life, but every single day gets better with consistent devotion to my highest self and dreams. Even this house, which may not seem like much to some, is an example of staying true to what I want as just 6 months ago, I was unemployed and Mitch and I were living out of our suitcases and staying with friends. I wanted the exact right home for us at the exact right price. Now, Im back in migration law and living in this lovely little beach bungalow! All of that is just to say, if you want something, like truly want it, and its in alignment with your highest self, keep at it. No matter how many set backs and no matter how much self doubt, just keep going! Your brain might doubt you but your heart will always believe in your dreams. Xx See more

05.01.2022 Given this paradise I find myself in, it is quite possible that I have died, but I feel more alive than ever before. So, I do not care if I am in existence or non-existence; so long as I can stay right here, for a while. This life living through me is something else. Something unnamable and uncontainable, yet gracefully plays through every cell within me and around me, just for fun. This is all outside of the edges of my mind. Just give me a few more cosmic hours to breathe with it. #prana

04.01.2022 Yesterday, @krishnadasmusic said something that really resonated. I asked if he had any advice on finding a guru and/or a teacher. His response was that there is no separation between god, guru and self. He reminded us to stay true to the path, let it unfold, and never give up. As You do this, the guru is revealed, but perhaps not as I expect. You see, as you refine your vision, clean the mirror of your soul, god, guru, and self are reflected back to you in all things. . . .... As a jnana yogi, I like to *know* things. I read and study and shatter beliefs and replace them with new beliefs daily. However, after yesterdays Bhakti yoga vibes, I left with my mind empty and my heart filled. I felt free and ever since, the resonance of our Kirtan, chanting the name of god, has continued echoing through me and it truly feels as though the universe (god, guru, self) is present everywhere. . . . The mind rebels against this seemingly irrational thought, but the heart remains overflowing. . . . Sometimes we have to suspend the obsession with knowing so we can just feel, and the knowing occurs organically. Thats my practice for now anyway. Whats yours? . . .
