24.01.2022 Let me share with you something that inspires me to keep going! Last year we went to a muster as a family. We watched the rodeo during the day and in the evening there was a live band, a fire eater and some kids entertainment so it was a perfect family day out for us and ticked all of our boxes. With drinks in hand and dancing around with our son i said to my hubs 'I think Beau likes the performing arts as much as me' and his reply was........ 'I don't remember the last time i had anything to do with the performing arts'.....!!!.... as he was dancing, to music being played by a live band, with a fire breathing circus performer front of stage. Even if it is right in front of them, some people still don't know what the performing arts is and how it affects them. Our work is never done. Share your inspiring stories below! #tourcoordinator #artsmanagement #artsfunding #regionalarts #regionalartsaustralia #regionaltheatre #performingarts #performingartswa #performingartsaustralia #grantwriting #artsfunding #Performingartsfunding #producerlife #australianartists #supportthearts See more

24.01.2022 STOP USING FANCY WORDS! When it comes to creating show marketing, straight forward language is better than fancy words. Here's why!... 1. By using too many fancy words you uphold the incorrect belief that art is just for the elite; 2. A lot of people don't know what words like visceral mean, you will alienate your audience; 3. Unless your mum is your target audience, no one will be impressed by your fancy talk. What are your thoughts around this? I would love to hear them! #regionalarts #regionalartswa #regionalartsaustralia #regionalpresenters #regionaltheatre #audiencedevelopment #creativeproducers #artsaustralia #australianartists #performingarts #performingartsaustralia #artperformance #artsindustry #artsmanagement #audience #eventmarketing #targetmarket

22.01.2022 HAPPY WORLD BALLET DAY. Oh and by the way Ballet does not turn little boys gay. Ballet was my first love. Like loads of young kids, I started at the age of 5 and was a firm fan from day 1. I continued training until the age of 19 but you can often find me prancing around my kitchen with my son. Despite what some people think, ballet does not turn little boys gay. (I've heard this from so many people who should know better) ... I'm a big advocate for boys in the performing arts because it gives them skills they often lack like self esteem and resilience, plus teaches them breathing and body control techniques which, as a mother of a lively 4 year old, I know can be missing in our little pests. So, whatever age your son is, today I challenge you to take him by the hand and dance with him in whatever way you want. Just see that light shine in his eyes and then tell me boys shouldn't dance. #dance #dancingboys #ballet #balletboys #dancingkids #kidsinthearts #performingarts #theatrekids #livetodance #performingartists #danceforeveryone #keepdancing

21.01.2022 How do I spend time unwinding on the weekend? As a family our fave things to do on the weekend is to go 4wheel driving and spend time on a beautiful beach somewhere. Throw in a trip to the pub with live music and we're a happy bunch. How do you unwind? ... #smallbusiness #buyfromabushbusiness #virtualassistant #ruralwa #ladystartup #virtualbiz #remoteteams #freelance #creativeproducer #regionalartist #grantwriting

18.01.2022 What I do when I’m feeling low or struggling! Get up and dance. Turn that music on loud and prance around like no one is watching/everyone watching depending on your level of extrovert.... Feel free to share your tip! See more

08.01.2022 I love helping people shake the overwhelm. This lovely lady needed help with a grant application for a community project. The committee she's on had so many thoughts and ideas that getting them all onto paper in a way that was acceptable in a funding application had them stumped. I was able to help them organise the information and gave them an action plan to get the grant written without overwhelm. If you feel overwhelmed at the thought of starting a grant application... send me a DM and we can work together to find some clarity. #grantwriting #funding #grantwriter #getfunded #funding #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #remoteteams #fundingsuccess #freelance #regionalartists #artsfunding #Performingartsfunding See more

07.01.2022 It took me a decade to realise the importance of community engagement. Being in the arts industry for 20 years, I have learnt a lot about my niche and I love the creativity of this field. I love the work I do, and I have so many stories to share. When I was a young dancer at college the general consensus was we didn't need to get our teaching qualification or worry about theory too much. I was going to be a dancer, a well paid and somewhat famous dancer to boot. Yeah right, i...n an industry where there is probably a handful of famous dancers throughout the world and probably zero who don't teach I was setting my dreams extraordinarily high. What I also failed to see the value in was community engagement. Big mistake. a few years later after an injury, I said goodbye to a career in dance completely, there was no place for me on the London dance scene anymore. It took a decade and becoming a mum to realise art, in all it's forms, is nothing without community. Since shifting my mindset the West Australian performing arts industry has become my adopted home and my greatest passion is inclusiveness, representation on our stages and advocating for boys in the arts. Community engagement is not a cop out or for those who don't make it as an artist, it is actually where the most important work is done. If you are creating work to only be watched, or to fulfill your need to be watched, you are missing the point. What was your defining moment? #regionalarts #regionalartswa #regionalartsaustralia #regionalpresenters #regionaltheatre #audiencedevelopment #creativeproducers #artsaustralia #australianartists #performingarts #performingartsaustralia #eventmarketing #audience #audiencedevelopment #theatremakers #publicevent #supportthearts #artsmanagement #liveevents

05.01.2022 3 MISTAKES PRODUCERS (& TOUR COORDINATORS) MAKE WHEN SELLING THEIR SHOW Presenters have heard them all, and they hate them all. Because they're simply not true. Nothing is for everyone, nothing will fit everywhere and tech specs that seem simple to you may be too extensive for a presenter with no lights and who has to hire a tech from 500kms away.... Honesty and transparency from the start is best. And if they can't take this show, they may take the next purely because they like how you work. Tell me some of your horror stories when selling or buying shows. #supportthearts #artsmanagement #liveevents #eventcoordinator #artisticentrepreneur #artsindustry #tourcoordinator #artsmanagement #artsfunding #regionalarts #regionalartsaustralia #regionaltheatre #performingarts #performingartswa #performingartsaustralia #producer #theatreproducer See more

01.01.2022 What does a normal workday look like for me? Great question, I thought I would share some insight into how I manage a business, study and motherhood. Work... - I work two days a week from the library or a coffee shop with Beau at daycare; Study - During naptime on home days - Friday mornings at the leisure centre before swimming lessons. Mumming - the rest of the time I'm trying to mould Beau into a future superstar. So everyday looks different and it has to be flexible. If you work with me I dedicate two days a week to client work which means I'm super focused on you at that time and I don't take on more clients than I can manage. But I'm currently developing some services and products that can help you even when I'm not working so stay tuned for those in the coming months. What does your routine, or lack of one look like? No wrong answers here. #eventcoordinator #artisticentrepreneur #artsindustry #smallbusiness #buyfromabushbusiness #virtualassistant #ruralwa #ladystartup #virtualbiz #remoteteams #audiencedevelopment #artsadministration #tourcoordinator #artsmanagement #workingmums #mumtrepeneur See more
