17.01.2022 As my style develops and my articulation deepens, I’m beginning to understand that what I’m really trying to capture in my paintings is the energy of the objects. I like the perspective and composition to be a little awkward and off to give the impression that everything is moving and I use a watercolour effect to create a point of connection between all the objects like everything is sinking into each other. If everything is energy, then the physical objects themselves are an illusion, but the symbols hold great power, hence why I include the brand titles. They influence us more than we realise, and in a world where we’re bombarded from birth with set ideas of reality, how often do we truly get the space to contemplate our beliefs? Do we truly know what drives us?

17.01.2022 Meet Glenn Barry in the flesh - the subject of my latest painting ‘Stuff of Life’ I filmed this with the help of @ellamayphoto for @placemakersgoldcoast Behind the Golden Doors series coming up this Thursday, where I’ll be screening the short film as well as discussing the ‘Stuff of Life’

14.01.2022 Reminiscing on @mintarthouse and it’s many iterations and locations as we move into another venue (literally next door). This photo was taken at our Last Supper (swipe for context) at our old location on 55 west Burleigh (where we’ll be joining forces with @thisisart to bring the space alive again for one massive party on May 22nd). The heavens brought out this stunning sunset for our last blow out and @holyshititsdion and @theaskelsey made their way onto the roof not long after we thought it’d be a good idea to put the couch on the pool table

13.01.2022 @aiww boomerang shaped chandelier at @qldmuseum with @anyssachorvat

13.01.2022 This painting of @ellerhop AKA @shuturp was the first painting in a new body of work titled Absorption. As part of the project, I ask to be invited into notable people's home and have an informal interview, and from that, paint a small corner of their room - as I believe those insignificant corners in someones home say a lot about their nature, rituals, beliefs and history. Ellie was the first person I selected after conceptualising this project and taking the time to put int...o words the way I naturally see the world. I would normally never paint portraits, nor would I choose a composition like this... but having to articulate myself in a new way meant that there was some sort of reorientation while I adjusted to this new lens. To be honest, I probably won't be in a rush to paint another portrait (unless its a study), and as I'm about to start the 4th painting in this series, I'm seeing my natural style come back again. I'll speak more on why I chose Ellie and the greater project in following posts. See more
