25.01.2022 Great to hear that more than 500 people have taken part in the community survey for Bungendore High School. The new secondary school, which will be located at t...he Majara-Gibraltar Street precinct, will benefit so many in our local community. A high school in Bungendore is something the community have been calling for and I'm excited to be getting on and delivering this important project. We have the opportunity here to create a school specifically for Bungendore. If you haven't already, jump online and have your say - https://www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au//new-high-scho The survey will be open for feedback until 11 September 2020.
25.01.2022 LIBS TARGET REGIONAL MOTORISTS! Today, the NSW Government, through the NSW Liberal Roads Minister Andrew Constance announced the removal of warning signs fo...r mobile speed cameras in NSW. This is a major change in policy, yet he didn’t consult with Government members and announces it on the last day of Parliament. It is a disgrace! My statement on the issue is below.
25.01.2022 NSW Nationals Chairman Andrew Fraser says it is time to stop using the bush to make up for Sydney’s failings. The people of regional NSW are sick and tired of ...being used as the biodiversity offset for western Sydney development, Mr Fraser said. https://www.nswnationals.org.au/media-release-nationals-de/

21.01.2022 This is a day for all of us to come together and celebrate what it means to be Australian. Your family might have been here for tens of thousands of years or on...ly a few months; you might have come here seeking opportunity or freedom from oppression or simply the greatest beaches and landscapes in the world. Whatever your story, and whatever reason you came to be here, we are all united in being Australian and that is something we hold very dear in our hearts. Listen, reflect, celebrate, and stay safe!
15.01.2022 NSW Health is calling on anyone who entered NSW from Victoria since 27 January to check whether they have been to a venue of concern in Melbourne. The list of ...venues has been updated today and further updates may follow, so please keep a careful watch on the website. A full list of venues of concern is available at the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) website www.dhhs.vic.gov.au and is updated regularly. If you have been to any of these locations at the times listed, you are at risk of COVID-19, so please follow the health advice provided. People who have been to these venues are required to get tested immediately and isolate for up to 14 days. You can call your local NSW Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055 for further advice. Since 4 February, all air and rail travellers arriving in NSW from Victoria have been required to fill out a passenger declaration form, which includes confirmation of whether they have visited any venues of concern. This information is important for helping NSW contact travellers. There are more than 350 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP.
15.01.2022 Great to join NSW Police Force Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon, Monaro Police District Commander John Klepczarek and Queanbeyan Officer in Charge Keith Price to ...inspect the new Queanbeyan Police Station. This state-of-the-art station will ensure that our men and women in blue are equipped to serve and protect the entire border community now and into the future. I can’t wait for the official opening in March as promised.
15.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who has been patient as we worked towards a solution for our border communities. As a border MP I know how challenging the last couple of... months have been and how much these changes needed to happen. At 12.01am tomorrow the new border bubble will come into effect. This map shows we’ve gone beyond a straight line and that we’ve included full local government areas. The community’s interests have been at the heart of this change. I’m always here to listen to your concerns and I’ll always do what I can for our regions. Andrew Constance MP Kristy McBain
14.01.2022 The first sods were turned & cement blocks demolished on the long awaited aquatics, arts & leisure centre in Batemans Bay today. 13.01.2022 From midnight tonight the border between NSW and Victoria will finally open. Having worked closely with our border communities and establishing the Cross Borde...r Taskforce I know personally how much this means to businesses and communities across the entire state. Thank you once again for your patience and incredible resilience regional NSW.
12.01.2022 On Saturday we paused to remember Pilot-in-Command Captain Ian McBeth, First Officer Paul Hudson and Flight Engineer Rick DeMorgan Jr, three men from the US who... lost their lives protecting our community during last summer’s devastating bushfires. During the service, NSW Rural firefighter Ernie Constance shared a poem he wrote on the tragedy. His words have stayed with me and I wanted to share them with you. ___________________________________________ This rocks stands as a monument To three brave heroes of our day Their commitment as solid as this rock Where their names will forever stay They flew in from the USA In Peak View’s hour of need The fire was coming from the west Fanned by winds of gale force speed They dived and bombed to quell the flames Never counting on the price To save residents and property They made the supreme sacrifice We will never get to thank them For the sacrifice they made And, we owe a debt of gratitude That can never be repaid May their souls fly high forever O’er our countryside serene May their spirits rise to see again Our blackened bush, now green They can never walk amongst us But their memories will remain In our hearts and souls forever Until we meet again Ernie Constance October 2020 NSW Rural Fire Service
11.01.2022 Thanks again to the men and women who are protecting our communities on the NSW-Victoria border. Great to see spirits were high during a visit to Delegate yesterday. #nswpol Monaro Police District
10.01.2022 Koala protection laws are a hot topic in state politics but, for locals in Sydney's southwest, there's a cold reality. Many have lost control over their land, l...ashing out at the government as being hypocritical. Experts say several sites have no relevance to our koala population. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS
09.01.2022 STATEMENT ON KOALA SEPP I want to put on the record that I do not support the new Koala Habitat Protection State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) that was i...ntroduced by the NSW Government in March of this year. I love koalas just like everybody else, but I can’t support a policy that targets rural industries and decimates regional communities without protecting koalas. The new SEPP is ill-founded and essentially determines every part of NSW is koala habitat. It essentially sterlises all private land in regional NSW as koala habitat with the onus put on the landowner to undertake an ecological study to prove otherwise. The irony is that we have koalas in the region because we have protected them for the past 200 years and now we have a policy developed in the city, where they have annihilated their koala colonies, dictating to us on how best to protect this iconic species. I will not be a part of a Government that is responsible for destroying rural businesses, throwing country workers on the scrapheap and killing regional communities. I am hopeful that a review of the Koala SEPP guidelines can reach a compromise whereby koalas can be protected without impacting on the rural businesses we need to sustain our regional communities. In the event that no positive outcome is achieved, I am prepared to move to the crossbench. I will still be a member of the NSW Nationals but the NSW Government cannot rely on my vote for every piece of legislation introduced into the House. This is such a significant issue for me electorate I have to draw a line in the sand. I won't stand by and see regional communities and livelihoods decimated. I was elected to Parliament to represent my community and I will always stand up for and put my community first.
08.01.2022 2020 has been challenging for us all with drought, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. I’d like to take this opportunity to recognise the residents of NSW, pa...rticularly those in regional NSW, who have met each challenge with resilience and compassion, supporting each other and our communities through it all. I am truly proud to represent the people of this great State and to have the opportunity to call regional NSW home.
07.01.2022 I'm very excited to share that the new primary school being planned for Googong will be delivered as part of the NSW Government's job creation stimulus package.... I'm proud the NSW Nationals are continuing our record of investing in regional education, while providing a much-needed economic boost during these challenging times. The next steps for the new school include the development of design, planning approval, and tenders for builders and delivery phase consultants, which will begin before the end of the year. 06.01.2022 I'm very excited to share this fly-through visualisation of the new high school in Bungendore, which gives us all a better understanding of what this modern edu...cation campus will look like. The next stage of consultation for the new secondary school will begin next week with the community invited to visit a drop-in Community Engagement Hub. The hub will be located at Bungendore Primary School from Wednesday, and locals will have the opportunity to learn about the building process and ask the School Infrastructure team who are planning the project questions. The Community Engagement Hub will be open during select times and registration is required to ensure current social distancing measures are followed. 04.01.2022 Great to see Jodi McKay MP teaming up with the SMH’s City Editor to highlight the incredible work we are doing to support communities right across regional NSW.... It’s only the Nationals that will deliver this level of investment to the bush! Disappointing to read that Labor and the Greens want to kill the universally loved Stronger Country Communities Fund and our other regional programs. I’ll be sure to let all regional Mayors and Councils know of your plans to pull the rug out from under them, after they’ve endured drought, bushfires and now the economic fallout from COVID-19. You can count on me to always defend regional NSW. But then again, our regional communities are pretty good at speaking out for themselves. Jodie, I suggest you read a few of those regional submissions to the Inquiry before we get started. https://www.smh.com.au//coalition-seats-big-winners-from-s
