Remember this day @smithandarcher? I arrived to find you out on the dirt road photographing these two bloody excellent humans. The memory of laughing at Georgie sinking into the dirt in her heels really brought a smile to my face. Needed!

20.01.2022 Em and Heath were married at @poh3058 on their own terms, in their own way. When I met them they were very specific about how they wanted their wedding to be and carefully chose their vendors. It was thrown together within weeks in the end- and was absolutely awesome! . I arrived to an@amazing live vocalist @the__witching__hour, drinks flowing and a great vibe. The ceremony was super fun and celebrated all their achievements and nuances. Their vows brought the house down. .... @lulu_and_lime captured the joyful debauchery perfectly, including this confetti bomb shot in the back alley. . Combined with grim wintery weather, darkness and freezing cold? Home schooling. Not having any work. Feeling trapped. Frustrated. Resentful. . . For me, feelings like this always escalate the closer I get to the finish line. I can SEE it on the horizon and yet were still only half way. ... . I truly feel were going to get this done in Vic and find a space to exist that doesnt completely suck until we get a treatment or vaccine. . Anything compared to what were living now is a bonus right?! Thats going to mean seeing friends and fam, dinner with your mates, kids back to school and kinder and non essential businesses open. 09.01.2022 Wellll, 2020 took a hard left didnt it?! Farrrk! You couldnt have made it up! . Like everyone Im bored as hell and sooo over it but also regularly checking my privilege. . The rest of the year is a total wasteland. A smoking pile of rubble. Terminator 3 post apocalyptic world styles. ... . Theres a phrase used in nursing referring to letting what has occurred to sink in: sitting in the rubble. . And thats what Im doing right now. Just sitting with it. Not fighting it anymore. Did that for a long while though. What a waste of energy. Cant change a situation with worry. . For now Im focusing on the couples who are hanging in there having smaller weddings - and our new bizzo @kickstartmyheart.weddings with my best lady boss @killerqueencreative. . Next year is going to be off its head. On its ear. Flipping nuts. So Im going to try and embrace this forced break and take it easier whilst I can. . We share leads. We cheer each other on. Its a good community on the whole. When were off the clock we are fond of a party. . You naturally gravitate to your people of course so everyone tends to have their own core of vendor mates. Covid has also granted me some new friendships and those people have really sustained my mental health during this devastating period of no work. Its also highlighted some things that have been less than positive but thats ok too. . Like most Melburnians, I have days of positivity and days where I feel like throwing in the towel. . So, basically no weddings are permitted until 26/10 when you can have 10- including you, the celebrant and two witnesses. ... . From 23/11, if we sustain zero cases for two weeks prior- you can have 50 guests. 50 at a registered venue but only 20 at a private property. . If we maintain zero cases for another two weeks beyond that- you can have unlimited guests so long as the venue records guest details. . For many couples this plan is what was needed to make a decision about hanging in/ forging ahead or pulling the pin. . Here we go then team. 01.01.2022 Over the last few months this little workhorse and I have plugged countless hours into setting up our new business @kickstartmyheart.weddings amidst wrangling small children, running households and juggling zillions of postponements. . So many emails, texts, Zoom meets and phone calls. Setting up and launching a business in the time of Covid has had its challenges but were finally ready to go. . Massive shout out to @gooddayclub_au who confidently took our convoluted ideas... and created the perfect fit for us in the graphic design, branding and styling. . This has been a pretty crappy year for the wedding industry and were feeling it from couples and vendors alike. .
