25.01.2022 Kelly needed maintenance on her 1 year old dreads. As you can see, the blow-outs are easily trained back into the loc if caught young enough. After your dreadlocks mature around the blow-outs, it is more difficult to train the hairs into the right position. Palm rolling will help keep your dreads long and cylindrical. After considering all options to turn her plaits into dreads, it was decided to keep her sectioning, letting the roots dread up and grow, taking the plait and extension hair out later down the track and creating a longer dreadlock and extension then. This can be a gradual change during maintenance, or all at once. 14.01.2022 Apologies for not being available to you over the Christmas break as planned. I had an opportunity to get much needed help to reorganize the craft room, supplies and home. ...Totally worth the 6 days of solid hard work! What was once a shipping container and a garage with a heap of supplies stored hidden away in all different places, now is a fully functional craft room with organised shelves and storage! Thanks to my mum for putting in a solid effort to help get me back to... you guys quicker. I'm really missing the Ocean Crochet life, filled with your beautiful smiles and personalities. I miss creating and sharing my passion. I miss that feeling of accomplishment and pride on finishing a project or hair style. I miss work....hahaha! Today, Mum, Tyler and I are having a day of relaxing fun while I get back to earth and catch up with you all on the phone, ready to get back into the shop tomorrow!!! Yay!!!! 13.01.2022 Brad was sick of his whispies and wanted a neater look. He had a few blow outs that needed repair on his 7 month old dreadlocks. It's important to fix them during the maturing phase for a straighter, cylindrical dreadlock. It was great to share dread care tips to help him on his journey into long, strong dreadlocks! 12.01.2022 (I thought I posted but it disappeared) Kal had a deep cleanse last time he was here and we ran out of time to do all of his maintenance. Deep cleanse loosens up your dreads and causes some fuzziness. This is why you should never do a deep cleanse after maintenance. Always before. We added a custom coloured, synthetic extension. 08.01.2022 Tom was happy to have his roots tightened up. It's always such a fresh feeling you get with maintenance. We talked alot about deep cleanse and scalp scrub. These are recommended before maintenance, to soak out all debris from work and life that doesn't come out with regular shampooing. You can tell if your dreads need a cleanse by the density, weight, colour, smell, where you work....and if you think it's been longer than 6 months since the last soak. FYI Swimmers/surfers ten...d to have cleaner dreads.
