25.01.2022 HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! If you're planning to spend the next 4 days taking turns between over indulging and feeling guilty, or obsessing about every single calorie that you consume, I invite you to this safe space where I say... IT IS OK TO ENJOY CHOCOLATE!!! ... Yes! I am a clinical nutritionist, yet, I encourage all my clients to develop a healthy relationship with the foods that they love Going from "I'm not allowed" or "I shouldn't eat chocolate" to "I'm going to eat the whole box/block" is a vicious cycle that ruins all the joy and pleasure that we should be getting from food and has serious detrimental effects on our body, mind and soul. Good quality chocolate can be part of a healthy balanced diet. As a matter of fact, chocolate has a whole bunch of health benefits: It is rich in Antioxidants and Minerals Boosts mood and cognitive function May lower risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and high cholesterol It contains fibre which feeds our gut bacteria, improving gut health With this amazing nutritional profile, how could this superfood be the same thing that is setting you back in your health goals?! The answer is complex but involves: Stressful lifestyles, the effects of a highly processed food industry and the effects of a highly judgemental society that makes us develop such a negative relationship with foods and our own bodies. I discuss this and more in detail during my nutrition consultations. I want my clients to enjoy the foods that they love and I've been blessed enough to see this happening since I started practicing Reach out if you feel like your relationship with food needs some love For now, I'll leave you with one of my favourite recipes for chocolate coated energy balls in the comments Enjoy it! #happyhealthyeaster #healthyeaster #chocolaterocks #chocolateislife #fortheloveofchocolate #balancedeating #healthychocolaterecipes #healthyrecipesforeaster #balanceddiet #naturalattitude #nutritionistsydney #nutritionistaustralia #nutricionistasydney #nutricionistaaustralia #nutricionistanoexterior

24.01.2022 I had the absolute pleasure of spending a whole afternoon with a bunch of like-minded professionals discussing the effects of nutrition and gut microbiome on pre-conception, pregnancy and post-partum health of both mums and babies It is truly amazing what we know now about the power of nutrition and the environment around us and how both affect fertility (either in a positive or negative way). There is so much more than "eating your veggies and drinking your water" - altho...ugh, it is highly advisable that you do eat your veggies and drink your water It was a privilege to listen to these legends that have paved the way for us with so much study in the nutrition, microbiome and epigenetics fields Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us @leahhechtman @hannahdahlen @susanarentz1965 and thanks for the lovely afternoon @perdaysau and @cailiefordnutrition #nutritionistsydney #nutritionistdarlinghurst #nutritionist #nutricionistaaustralia #nutricionistasydney #nutricionistanoexterior #naturalattitude #womenshealth #naturalattitudeaustralia #dietandpregnancy #nutritionandpregnancy @marifrankz

20.01.2022 Is pasta bad for you? Pasta carries a bad rap. It has been targeted by the anti-carb culture and it is the cause of temptation and regrets by most regular dieters ... But in all honesty, if done right, it can be a delicious and nutritious meal. In fact, pasta dishes are staple in one of the most studied healthy eating patterns: the so loved Mediterranean Diet The dish above was made from scratch with lots of laugh and love (making pasta is fun - you should try it!). Filled with veggies, slow cooked with heaps of protein and topped up with fresh herbs from the garden, our Valentine’s dinner had it all: Protein Veggies Fibre Antioxidants Omega 3’s Followed by a sunset walk, dinner was delicious, nutritious and left no traces of guilt If you are on a constant carbs x weight battle, have issues with gluten intolerance, glucose metabolism (i.e. insulin resistance or diabetes) or if you are struggling to find balance in your diet, reach out! Let’s talk about it... Tell me... what stops you from enjoying your food? #homemadepasta #carbsarenottheenemy #valentinesdinnerathome #nutritiontips #nutritionistsydney #nutricionistasydney #foodismedicine

18.01.2022 Let’s talk about gluten You may think that gluten free diet is another fad but cutting gluten from the menu can be life changing for many people. This week is Coeliac Awareness Week and the reason why we need to raise awareness is because it is believed that 4 in 5 coeliac sufferers do not know they have the condition ... That leads to a life of suffering and can result in other health conditions such as anaemia, osteoporosis, other autoimmune conditions, infertility, neurological conditions and even gastrointestinal cancers Talk to your doctor if you suspect you may suffer from Coeliac or if you have family members with the condition. Symptoms vary from very mild to severe and in rare cases, coeliac can be asymptomatic, meaning you won’t feel anything. There’s no harm testing if a genetic disposition is present And if you need or choose to start a gluten free diet, make sure you do with professional guidance. Done properly, it can be a game changer! Reach out for a quick chat. I am now taking bookings and would love to discuss your health goals! #coeliacawarenessweek #coeliacaustralia #glutenfreeliving #glutenfree #naturalattitude #nutritionistsydney #nutricionistasydney #nutricionistaaustralia

15.01.2022 Happy Mardi Gras everyone! Today is the first day of this amazing festival that celebrates PRIDE, diversity and freedom whilst still reminding us all about the importance of our ongoing fight for equality! Coincidence or not, my groceries shopping today reflected the colors of our beautiful flag And as you know, I love talking about the importance of eating a wide variety of veggies, right? ... So here’s my tip of the day: Eat the rainbow!!! That way you will be getting a beautiful variety of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and different fibres through your food! Did you know that fruit and veggies get their color from amazing chemical compounds, each one of them exherting a different heatlhy benefit? But more on these compounds later, as I am now getting ready to celebrate Have a safe and joyful Mardi Gras filled with love #mardigras #celebratingpride #nutritionistsydney #nutritionistdarlinghurst #nutricionistasydney #nutritiontips #eatyourveggies #eattherainbow

07.01.2022 Like at the end of any other year, all social media and news channels are flooded by the words reset, time to start, transformation, detox, to mention a few In the next few days people all over the world will be taking action towards their new year’s resolutions, engaging on new restrictive protocols that will, very often, left them angry, frustrated, hungry, unhappy and out of pocket (not to mention malnourished and unhealthy). Don’t get me wrong. I am all for self...-care and I encourage positive changes any day. What I cannot endure though, is punishment and guilt taking over after the festive season, just because someone once decided that that’s how it was supposed to be How about this year we focus on self-love, healing our bodies from inside out, focusing on regaining our energy and boosting our sense of wellbeing? Believe me, if weight loss is your goal, you will get there naturally by simply setting the foundations the right way. In 2021 let’s say no to fad diets. No to juice cleanse protocols. No to punishing and restrictive lifestyles. Let’s say no to comparing ourselves with others. And a giant NO to the media campaign and the Instagram influencer that makes us feel ugly, unworthy and undeserving. Let’s love and respect our bodies. Let me guide you and show you how. This January, instead of buying a pack of replacement meals or jumping into the trendiest fad diet, I suggest you booking a consultation with a holistic professional who shall guide you and support you through changes that will change your life (and not only the numbers on the scale if for a little while). Follow me or contact me if you believe I can be that person in your life Here’s to a healthier and loving 2021. Happy New Year, without all the bullshit #naturalattitude #nutritionsydney #nutricionistasydney #selfcare #selflove #NoToFadDiets

07.01.2022 Dried smoked shitake! Yum!!! I am absolutely obsessed with this delicious snack! It is hard not to snack all day when working from home. Specially in days like this! ... So, I try my best to only have healthy snacks in the house, avoiding at all costs stocking up on processed foods / sugary snacks. Today I reach out to the dried shitakes I had in the kitchen pantry Such an easy snack. Here’s the step by step: Soak dried shitake in hot water for about 20 minutes Squeeze excess water out Slice it up and put it in a bowl Add heaps of smoked paprika, cracked pepper and a pinch of salt Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil and mix well until all shitake is covered in spices Take it to a pre-heated oven at 190 on a tray and bake it for 30 minutes Try to resist and not eat the whole tray ;) Mushrooms are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals, support your immune system and lowers cholesterol. So why snack on processed chips when you can eat these little nutrients powerhouse? What about you? What are you snacking on today? #smokedshitake #driedshitake #mushrooms #healthysnacks #snackideas #colddaysnacks #workingfromhome #nutritionistsydney #nutritionistaustralia #nutricionistasydney #nutricionistaaustralia #nutritionistdarlinghurst #naturalattitude @marifrankz

01.01.2022 "I didn't expect to see a nutritionist posting that" I was quite surprised to get this message after sharing a story of me having ANZAC biscuits for breakfast with my partner yesterday I've never been a "good food, bad food" kind of nutritionist and my approach to food is very holistic. Basically, I don't believe that foods should be labelled as "good" or "bad". ... Of course, if your body can't handle gluten, for example, I'd suggest you to stay away from it. Not because "gluten is bad for you" but because your body is reacting to it with high levels of inflammation, gastrointestinal disturbances and/or skin rashes The same thing goes for lactose, nuts, preservatives, artificial colours, legumes and sometimes even certain fruit and vegetable - which are always labelled as the good guys! We are all very unique individuals, and our bodies react to certain foods in different ways. We should be getting more in tune with our bodies, observing how we react to foods rather than focussing our attention on labelling foods as good or bad As per biscuits and other treats, there are always BETTER options out there. I made my biscuits myself using 6 ingredients This is BY FAR a better option if compared to processed items. I share a comparison on this post so you can see it for yourself. But even if you bought pre-packed ANZAC biscuits yesterday, I want you to know that it is ok to eat certain foods as part of a healthy, balanced diet. At the end of the day, the connection, love and gratitude that ANZAC Day brings to our hearts are way more important than the nutritional value of a biscuit. If that biscuit brings your loved ones together and makes you feel like you belong, make sure you enjoy it without guilt In saying that, if you struggle finding balance or eliminating certain foods based on your body needs, reach out to a professional who is open minded about holistic nutrition. I hope you all enjoyed ANZAC Day yesterday and felt the love and connection, with or without the biscuits #Lestweforget #Anzac #nutritionistsydney #nutritionistdarlinghurst #nutritionist #nutricionistaaustralia #nutricionistasydney #nutricionistanoexterior #naturalattitude.au #naturalattitude #womenshealth #anzacbuiscuits #healthycookies #anzacbiscuits #moderationiskey #listentoyourbody
