25.01.2022 Clear evidence that bees can read on this swarm collection in Sandy Bay. These girls have populated my Layens hive which we will check out at the Kingston Bees gathering this month.

24.01.2022 Finding clover seed without neonic sprays is difficult but well worth the search. This is the time of year I broadcast the seeds across the apiary. I now have a good growth of different clovers in spring.

23.01.2022 This course is now free. It is so important the bee disease information is readily available to everyone so Iam so pleased they have taken the fee away.

22.01.2022 Most Councils have applications open for registering for Spray Free. Spring is close so please register to stop deadly herbicides killing our pollinators.

22.01.2022 Paul Stamets is an icon in the beekeeping world. Check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ6Ym719urg

20.01.2022 Warre Warrior Q&A next Wednesday 5 August at 6pm for chatting all things Warre...

19.01.2022 I’m BAAACKKK! And heard about the first swarm in the south. Spring is starting now. I have spent my first day with some bees doing a cutout from a nest that has been in situation for 16 years, nicely cared for by our old neighbour Cliff. He died a month back and the family have fulfilled his wish to have them rehoused before the old place is sold. I love looking at bees living in nests. On the bottom of the shed wall was a 16 year old ecofloors! You can see the layers of decomposition, the layers where they had the wax moth chew out the comb for renewal etc. I have taken samples to check for microbes.

19.01.2022 How do we get to this kind of insane position? What does it take for humanity to realize we are so intricately attached to our pollinators and to protect them above other interests?

19.01.2022 I am looking forward to Bees In the Pub this Monday at 6pm. Don’t forget to book. https://kingstonbees.com.au/kingston-bees/bees-in-the-pub

19.01.2022 Oh the girls just wanta go in....oh, the girls just wanta go in!

19.01.2022 Oh check out these Warre beauties. The bees will love to live here. Not long to swarming season.

18.01.2022 Now this looks interesting. Paul Stamets is fabulous.

18.01.2022 Well here is a curious thing. I have never seen this on our local Buff tailed Bumblebee. But I have not been looking. They move to a new nest every year due to the nematodes they carry and perhaps mites help to protect against them. Please let me know if you see mites on our bumbles.

17.01.2022 The amazing comb from the bee removal 2 weeks ago. I’d like to think I could frame it some how...

15.01.2022 What a beautiful Layens Hives made by one of our Kingston Bee keepers. Spotted gum on the outside has brought it to life. Well done David

15.01.2022 Another Warre Warrior with their beautiful hive ready for this swarming season.

13.01.2022 Breaking news. It has been known for some time that Beekeepers live longer and are usually healthier than the rest of the population. This is another good piece of evidence. https://medicalxpress.com//2020-09-venom-honeybees-aggress

13.01.2022 At last my Natural Bee Husbandry (Wifery) mag has arrived from the UK, so I’m ready for a coffee break and a good read to inspire me.

13.01.2022 The second solar wax melter is now in action and cleaning up the waste from the last cutout. Our temperatures have not bees above 21C but it is melting the wax well.

11.01.2022 Today is the first of the Courses at NBT and we are still in a Reno site!

09.01.2022 Warre Warrior Q&A Zoom meeting is on again this Wednesday 2 September. The time has been changed to 7pm. Details have been sent via email with the same meeting ID and password as other sessions. Chat soon

07.01.2022 A big day today travelling to the northwest to collect two large slabs of macracarpa for our bathroom vanity benches and 170 meters of warre timber. Loved their massive fire box and the old machinery.

07.01.2022 Placing any sign that promotes spray free areas helps to raise awareness with the community and local/ state councils that these poisons are having a huge effect on our pollinators and the purity of honey.

05.01.2022 National Tree Day today so I will wonder across the road and watch the bees working a Black Gum. Such a rare food source so it’s brilliant to have it flowering this year and for winter. This photo however is a magnificent ash in the NW of the state. The property owners bought the land because they fell in love with this tree. Next year, their Warre bees will love it as well.

04.01.2022 Oh Bees in the Pub has come about quickly. Downstairs this month and unfortunately there will not be zoom members linking in. See you there.
