23.01.2022 I do a variety of these every day and would say all of them would be covered by thee end of the week. I roll out my yoga mat to do #yogaeverydamnday no matter what. Even if its just 5 minutes to breathe and stretch a little before bed.... Its been 680 consecutive days

23.01.2022 Ive just done a smudge of the house, telling the negative energy to fuck right off! To counteract this I need to invite positive energy in, so the negative energy doesnt pool in the void again. What better energy than the enjoyment of sitting on my bed, no pants on, eating chocolate ice-cream and listening to George Ezras Shoutgun!?!

23.01.2022 I did a thing today you guys. A big thing. I stepped fully out of my comfort zone.... My heart was hammering away in my chest so hard I thought it would explode. I went to a new hairdresser. Not just a new hairdresser, I went to a barber shop. I sat and waited in line with the other dudes. I so looked like I didnt belong there with my "Id like to talk to the manager" hair. I got skipped over in the line, I stood up and said it was my turn. The barber looked surprised. I showed him some photos and chatted about what I wanted and how I normally have my hair. When he finished just the fade I felt more like myself than I have in months. Telling him that we both breathed a sigh of relief. In my whole life Ive had 5 regular hairdressers and very rarely try someone new. But I wasnt feeling like myself. So I braved my own fears and stepped out of my comfort zone to step back into feeling like myself again. I loved that the barber free-styled the pineapple on one side. That was one of my first and favourite patterns I had. Im so glad I felt the fear and did it anyway. See the comments for the before hair and the OG Pineapple hair.

23.01.2022 I love these cushion covers from Hippie and Lamb. I'm slowly replacing all my old cushions with these.

22.01.2022 Sugar free vegan treats for Santa and his special helpers Vegan Eggnog 1 litre coconut milk 3 tablespoons maple syrup... 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg Toothpick swirl Ginger essential oil or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 vanilla bean 1/4 cup Brandy (optional) Put all ingredients except for vanilla bean in the Thermomix with the whisk attachment or blender, blend for 30 seconds. Pour into bottle or jug, place the vanilla bean in the eggnog mix. Refrigerate overnight. Shake well or re-mix before serving. Serve chilled with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

22.01.2022 Rituals and rhythms are for me, there is more eb and flow than following routines. Routines are rigid and when they get thrown off course so do I. Im derailed and find it hard to get back on track.... I have my daily rituals that can blend and bend around everything that goes on in the day. My Stacey Chai Hot Chocolate and a bit of studying in bed in the wee hours of the morning. Walking with Shelby. Pottering with my plants. A shower, lathering myself with oils and yoga before bed. Theres no set time. Theres no should do or have to with any of these things. They are done each day because I choose to indulge in these rituals for me and me only (well Shelby too but I do get as much out of our daily walks as she does). When the girls were little I was so rigid about routine that there was little room for spontaneity. There were charts and lists and plans. Now we go with the rhythm of the day. Took me many years to learn this about myself. Rituals, Routines or Rhythm? What works for you?

21.01.2022 I very nearly gave up on this Fiddle Leaf Fig. It was in quite a sorry state, neglected, unhealthy and struggling. It needed a bit of TCL.... I read up what care it needed and made some drastic changes to its day to day care. And look at it now, just 6 months later! Time and action do create noticeable results. Ive noticed this, not just with my precious Figgy, but with my mental health. 6 months ago I nearly gave up on myself. I was in quite a sorry state, neglected, unhealthy and struggling. I needed a bit of TCL. I read up what care I needed and made some drastic changes to my day to day care. And whilst my changes arent quite as dramatic as my Fiddle Leaf Fig I can see and feel the results of that TLC. See the comments for the before photo

16.01.2022 Sweet Potato Nachos! This ones definitely going in the recipe book. Ive just got to tweak the spiciness of the sauce, which means Ill have to make it and eat it again.... What a shame! #stakirecipes

16.01.2022 I disappeared for a long time, I slowly came back, shined bright for a while, then started disappearing again. This here is why I put so much into being seen, heard and valued. Not just for myself but for you too.

16.01.2022 This came up in my memories from 2 years ago and I could have easily written it today. Chatting on the phone with a friend this morning she asks "Are you looking after MY Stacey?" The answer was a resounding no.... So heres me sharing my journal from 2 years ago, updated for todays needs, and putting it out there to work on nourishing myself with real food and to look after "Sarahs Stacey". "September 4th 2018 Spring Self Care Day 2 is to cook a healthy meal Should be easy for me right? You all know that I am a vegetarian, that I dont eat refined sugar, wheat and dairy. Now vegan with nut, seed and soy allergies Its not so easy. Most days I struggle to eat 3 meals a day, if Im not prepared and organised it is easy to fall back into bad habits. Now eating, not nourishing, food 3 times a day For a long time, I didnt have an appetite. Ive built myself up to eating 3 meals a day, but could (and do) easily skip those. Its not something that I often talk about because people will say oh I wish I had that problem. No you dont. Its awful. Its horrible to have gone from some who had to eat every few hours or they got hangry, to someone who gets to 3pm and realises they havent eaten anything all day. I havent always been like this. 3 years ago I had Whopping Cough for 8 months. I coughed so much Id throw up. When that happens for 8 months it puts you off food and changes your whole relationship with food. On top of that Ive been made to feel that my food/lifestyle choices are difficult. And more often than not I dont eat well and I dont eat much at all, especially if Im not prepared. So Im adding to todays Spring Self Care, because: NOURISHING YOUR BODY WITH REAL FOOD, EVERY DAY, IS THE BEST FORM OF SELF CARE" Ill "shop" my pantry to see what I already have I will make and prepare things ready to grab and throw together for nourishing Buddha bowls for lunch each day I will try one new dish this week to inspire me to get back in my kitchen Do you have any go to recipes that are on high rotation that your family love? Inspire me.

10.01.2022 I made my Banana Caramel recipe into mini, individual, bite size pies! Theres no celebration, its no ones birthday, I just wanted some ooey, gooey caramel goodness and knew that we couldnt get through a whole pie in a few days (well we probably could but probably shouldnt). With the mini pies Ill be able to freeze them and take one whenever I want a treat. They wont take long to soften after coming out of the freezer and the banana layer will be like ice-cream.... The pie recipe (link in comments) makes 15 Mini Banana Caramel Pies. They are vegan, sugar-free, nut free and absolutely delicious!

08.01.2022 Lately Id been beating myself up about my daily yoga practice. I was still rolling out my yoga mat each day, with not much energy left at the end of the day to do more than a quick, easy practice under 15 minutes. I tried to change my routine to do my yoga in the morning, but that didnt work for me. ... My average step count has sky-rocketed since weve gotten Shelby, our rescue dog, Ive been taking her out for 2 to 3 walks a day at my slow, plodding pace. Shes a high energy dog and Im a low energy person. I can feel the strength yoga has given me in my arms when Shelby pulls on the lead. I can feel the patience yoga has given me when I am training Shelby. I can feel the stamina yoga has given me when my step count hits 10K, which is well and truly more than double my usual average. There is so much about my daily yoga practice that I am grateful for so I "flipped the script", as Yoga With Adriene says, and found gratitude for myself and my daily yoga practice once again. Because that 15 minutes of deep, concious breath and moving my body was the best way for me to end my day. And today Im celebrating 600 days of daily yoga practice!

04.01.2022 Why am I sharing grated sweet potato with you? Well let me tell you that there was a time, not that long ago, that I wasnt able to grate, mix or stand up very long to be able to cook. Thanks to my commitment to myself to do #yogaeverydamnday and Yoga With Adrienes guidance I have built up my strength and stamina.... 488 days and counting and it all started with an intention to roll out my yoga mat every day for 30 days. This is a great achievement for me

04.01.2022 I nearly let this moment pass because my anxiety brain tells me you must be sick of me posting about yoga, but I told that voice in my head to fuck off and here I am to celebrate my achievement with you! Last night, down by the beach, under the clear blue sky, with the wind blowing over me, the cockatoos squaking as they flew overhead, surrounded by a community of people of all different, shapes, sizes and ages, I rolled out my yoga mat for the 500th day in a row. As we ende...d our community yoga practice we were asked to put our hands on our heart and offer gratitude to someone or something, in that moment I was deeply grateful to myself. I was grateful that I honoured my intention to move my body intentionally every single day, no matter what. I was grateful that I kept the promise I made to myself, that I honoured myself enough to follow through. Yoga helped me get through the dark days of depression, a vortex that stole my soul for too many months last year. Yoga helped me to find myself again when I was drowning with the overwhelm of feeling other peoples feelings and drama. Yoga has helped me stay out of bed more than Im in it. Yoga has given me physical (and mental) strength that has rolled into other areas of my life, off the mat. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, after living with it for however many years not knowing what was going on. For 6 months after that diagnosis I lived in a drugged zombie state that wasnt really living, it was then that I made a commitment to myself to look at alternatives treatments for Fibro and made changes to my lifestyle. I didnt make those changes all at once, and didnt see results instantly, but little by little the things I did added up, over time, to big results. So heres to me living my best life, honouring my battle weary body and mind, my own way, at my slow and steady pace. #yogaeverydamnday #fibromyalgiawarrior

03.01.2022 One of my friends posted a list of 50 foods wanting to know which foods we dont eat, actually I think it was wanting to know how fussy we are and I dont eat 35/50 of the foods on the list! As a vegan, who is intolerant to gluten, nuts, soy, and sesame seeds, who chooses not to eat sugar, artificial flavours, colours or preservatives Ive definitely been given the fussy / difficult label. I often get asked well what do you eat?... I eat home-made goodness like this Calzone, stuffed with roasted tomatoes, sweet potato, mushroom and caramelised onion, topped with fresh rocket and lemon juice! I make nearly everything I eat from scratch, most of the time I have to create my own recipes to meet my dietary requirements. If I do eat out its not often I can order straight off the menu, which must be as frustrating for the chefs as it is for me. Ive got my cooking mojo back and have gathered all of my recipes together, theres close to 90 recipes that I have created. Im putting them together in a cookbook. The way Im going with cooking and creating at the moment I may get up to 100 recipes! Do you think I should include this vegan Calzone recipe? Ill put the list of foods in the comments, Id love to know which foods you dont eat. #stakirecipes

03.01.2022 Friday night indulgence eating ice-cream* with fresh strawberries and watching reaction videos on YouTube. Eva said "who are you and what have you done with my mother?" Ive been watching the TwinsthenewTrend boys listening to songs, that I grew up with, for the first time.... Its great to watch them enjoy music that seems ingrained in me. Its made me wonder about when was the last time I sat and just listened to music, just for the joy of listening, not doing anything else at the same time. Its nice to see this mindfulness and openness to new experiences, they really do give it their whole attention. My favourite has to be when they listened to Phil Collins In The Air Tonight, but this reaction to Bon Jovi was great, he was shook! https://youtu.be/V1yVZjoDNmo What have you been indulging in lately? *Not sugar free, but it is vegan, so its definitely only a some time treat for me.

03.01.2022 Joy to the World Diffuser Blend Diffuse Holiday Joy, Lemongrass and Clementine to feel safe and connected, to see the joy and wonder in the moment as you celebrate with family & friends. Wishing you and your family a very safe and joyous Christmas.

01.01.2022 450 days of yoga. This yoga journey of mine has been slow and steady. Physically I am stronger and more flexible, both on the mat and off.... Because of yoga I am able to do more things I couldnt do before due to limitations of living with Fibromyalgia. Little things like standing up for longer to cook, grating carrots and cheese (that was a great achievement ), carrying the washing basket outside and hanging washing, going for longer walks and being out of my bed more than Im in it. Mentally I am less angry and tense, I dont yell like a fish-wife anywhere near as much as I used to, I am able to take deep breaths and let my thoughts flow on the mat instead of seeking distractions (working towards that off the mat too). Ive been able to roll out my yoga mat during times of high stress and anxiety and bring myself out of my the swirling vortex in my head and back into my breath and body. I look forward to rolling my mat out each night, even when my mind chatter tells me Im too tired, I do it anyway. Ive rolled out my mat after red eye flights across Australia, on family "camping" trips, in the dark, in the morning light and once on the beach at sunset (celebrating a year of yoga). I practice yoga mostly by myself, sometimes with my kids, occasionally in a class. This coming year I hope to add regular meditation to my practice and to go to different yoga classes in our community (there are many to choose from), Im also looking at studying to become a yoga teacher, and I will continue to roll out my yoga mat each and every day in 2020. This journey started with an intention to roll out my yoga mat every day for 30 days, I didnt set out to yoga every day for a year or more, that just happened as I kept that promise to myself, one day at a time. Yoga with Adriene has a new 30 day yoga challenge starting January 1st, why not roll out your yoga mat with me for 30 days and see where your yoga journey can take you? #ywahome #yogawithadriene

01.01.2022 Enjoying my morning "Stacey Chai" with my plant friends. I love wandering around the house in the morning, checking how they are growing, saying hello and seeing if the need any nurturing. Not all of my plants have names but the ones who do have personalities to match.... Like Rapunzel, her "hair" just keeps growing and growing, shes well over 1.5m long! Do you have any morning rituals over your first cuppa of the day? Stacey Chai Spice Hot Chocolate Mix 1 vanilla bean - split and quartered 200 grams coconut sugar 110 grams cacao powder 50 grams maca powder 2 heaped teaspoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom pods 1/2 teaspoon allspice 6 to 10 pepper corns Blend all ingredients together in blender or Thermomix for 1 minute on speed 7. Store in a jar, add 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup of warm milk of your choice. Tips and tricks: Place the Thermomix lid over the top of your jar when decanting the hot chocolate mix, saves you scooping spoonful by spoonful and it going everywhere. Leave 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup of milk in the Thermomix, put in the butterfly and add milk. Mix 80 speed 4 for 4 minutes to make Hot Chocolate and not waste any of the mix. If youre not sure about the pepper in the mix you can leave them out, then try it adding a grind or too of fresh cracked pepper to the top of your hot chocolate. Cardamom pods will work but they seem to leave little bits in your cup, grind them separately first or use pre ground pods. #realfoodmadewithlove #inmykitchen #stakirecipes
