25.01.2022 How very exciting! It still needs a few adjustments and a splash of colour, but my new soap cutter is finally ready to do it's job. Just in time to cut my soap slab. What an amazingly talented hubby My pipe divider swirl soap looks amazing. I'll be getting my photo box out soon to show you the unique and diverse soaps.

25.01.2022 Wishing you all a very soaptastic Easter

25.01.2022 It didn't quite work out how I wanted it. I had too much colour and not enough base/in-between soap (uncoloured and pale green) so I added dark green and black with some extra red to the top. It means that the 12 bottom layer soaps will be very different to the 12 top layer soaps. Can't wait for the cut!

24.01.2022 This is what it's about. Enabling the transition into natural products as cheaply and easily as possible. For my beautiful friend: Magnesium spray Foot oil... 2x essential oil mixes to create natural cleaning products See more

23.01.2022 Ever tried to clean bat poop off your car? It is literally hard as shit! Today, instead of using car wash I diluted some liquid soap in a bucket. Wow! I can't believe how easily it cleaned my car (which was covered in dry bat poop from parking under a tree). So much better than any commercial car wash I've used, much better for my hands and the environment and so much cheaper. I think we tend to overcomplicate our cleaning habits. So many different products for different t...ypes of cleaning, all overpriced with marketing to make us think we need it. Soap is such a wonderful all-purpose cleaner - very effective, efficient and versatile - not to mention cheap.

22.01.2022 Hubby and I have finally finished my slab mould. I've been dying to do a pipe divider swirl. Looks like I've got something to do this afternoon. Can you guess what the final soap will look like?

22.01.2022 I've been making cold process soap for a while now and I've already ventured into hot process and dual lye soaps with great success. Today I'm taking the much more complex step into liquid soap. I've been purchasing my liquid soap from a local soap shop and I'll be out soon, so it's high time I made it myself! Here's the paste cooking. I used the last of my olive oil yesterday in a cold process bar so this recipe contains sunflower oil, coconut oil and castor oil.... Wish me luck! (Because lots can go wrong with liquid soap). So far so good though.

20.01.2022 By law manufacturers are not required to list the ingredients on cleaning products and often companies are not willing to provide a list when asked. There is a large number of people trying to change this law. Please sign this petition to force companies to disclose what is in their products.

19.01.2022 My favourite part of soaping is the cut: Saturn from Jupiter - glancing over Jupiter and two of it's moons to view saturn. Not astronomically correct, but makes a good looking soap! 4 days in the making.

18.01.2022 "Ronassentials" soap. For no other reason than for shits and giggles...

17.01.2022 Did you know that companies don't have to list the ingredients on their cleaning products?! You have no idea what are in them. Even companies claiming to be natural or eco friendly often aren't! These cleaning fizzies are the bomb! 3 ingredients: bicarb, citric acid and fractionated coconut oil. They have so many applications. Look at how effectively they have cleaned our outdoor bathtub! I use them to clean the toilet, basin, kitchen and I've even used them to replace the cl...eaning tablets in my Jura coffee machine! You can use them plain or add a few drops of essential oils before application for an extra boost. I love lemon, clove and lemongrass. This recipe is from Krissy Ballinger from The Inspired Little Pot. I highly recommend her book if DIY is for you! This recipe is free on her website. https://theinspiredlittlepot.com.au//cleaning-outdoors-rec

17.01.2022 A productive soaping day. Finished step 1 of two soap projects. I've got several different embeds for one soap, and the soap in the loaves is for both projects. There's red clay under the brown. Project 1 is called "Saturn from Jupiter" (pretty obvious) Project 2 is called "Ronassentials" (any guesses?)

16.01.2022 What you NEED to know about the cosmetic industry in Australia: - It is largely UNREGULATED - Manufacturers do not need to prove that their products are safe - Manufacturers only have to check that the chemicals they are using are permitted in Australia - you don't have to show they are safe when mixed with other ingredients - They do not have to list all ingredients - only those over 1%... - They don't have to list byproducts of ingredients when mixed together - There are MANY ingredients that are used in Australian cosmetics which have been banned overseas due to health risk - Be VERY WARY of anything labelled "Natural" "Eco" Green" - these terms are MEANINGLESS in the cosmetic industry as they are also unregulated . Many products labelled as such are full of nasties. Please take a moment to think of ALL the chemicals you are putting on your body. The average person probably uses over 100 per day! Do you know what they are and whether they are even safe? Many are not. Two great resources are: https://www.ewg.org/ and The Chemical Maze app - it's $10 but money well spent. It lists both cosmetic and food ingredients and their safety information https://chemicalmaze.com/

16.01.2022 Any guesses what soap is happily cooking away in my crock pot?

13.01.2022 Cafe Mocha anyone? Had a busy soaping weekend. Love how my choc/coffee soap turned out. Unfortunately none of the coffee smell came through from the infusions, but they look amazing. Good enough to eat! Coloured by coffee infused oil and water and the dark is cacao powder. The marbled soaps are hand soaps. We're now strictly using solid soap for hand washing (so the pump pack doesn't need to be constantly cleaned) and liquid soap for surface cleaning, so we were in desperate... need of a lot of hand soap. I have 28 bars/pebbles - that should last us a while. I've run out of olive oil (except for a few infusions), so these soaps are 75% rice bran making them cheaper (but not loosing quality). Just because they're hand soaps doesn't mean they have to look plain. Was going for a wood grain look but the high rice bran % made my mixture really accelerate trace (got super thick very fast) so I had to scrap that idea and just spoon in the colours. They still look great though.

11.01.2022 I have been busy expanding my soaping ability. These are my first two hot process soaps and the shaving soap is my first dual lye. I'm so happy with them. The shaving soap recipe has been specifically formulated to have the ideal fatty acid profile to create a very stable slippery lather. I've used soy wax instead of stearic acid because my soaps are palm free and I have not been able to source stearic acid made without palm oil (there's a company in NZ but they don't post in...ternationally). The other fats are shea butter, coconut oil and castor oil. This soap has no essential oils added. The green soap is a tea tree and activated charcoal face bar. It has been formulated for oily to combination skin with the addition of tamanu oil. The other fats used are olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, tamanu oil, macadamia oil, castor oil and avocado oil. It also has tea tree EO and activated charcoal. You can read about the benefits of tamanu oil here. https://www.healthline.com/health/tamanu-oil

09.01.2022 Nothing screams happy birthday like layer cake soap

08.01.2022 Last weekend I made pooch soap, and although it's not cured yet, Jazz decided she needed to trial it sooner than I'd planned by rolling in something Wow! The dog whose fur usually feels like straw (even after using commercial dog wash) is now so pattable she doesn't know what to do with all the extra attention. Her fur is noticeably softer and shinier and the soap will only get better with time. As our little fur babies can't tell us if they are uncomfortable I wanted the ...pooch soap to be as mild as possible, so it's coconut oil free and unscented. To enhance the bubbles I used rice water and it is the saponified fats of tallow, rice bran oil, olive oil and castor oil. Needless to say I'm very happy with my first pooch soap. So happy that when it's cured I'm even going to try it on myself!

07.01.2022 So happy with how my Reindeer soap turned out. I think they're super cute!

06.01.2022 SOAP: it's not what you think it is and what you think is soap could potentially be doing more harm than good. To be real soap, it has to have gone through saponification - this is when a fat (e.g. Olive oil) and alkali/lye (sodium hydroxide for bar soap or potassium hydroxide for liquid soap) have been chemically changed to become soap (as in the picture of my cold pressed soaps below). None of the lye remains after saponification. Natural cold pressed soap is not only clean...sing but also moisturising, keeping your skin's protective barrier in tact. In labelling, only true soap can be called soap. If it doesn't have soap in the label (e.g. it's called a "bar", "wash", "gel") then it's actually detergent. That's right, you are probably washing your body and hands with a type of detergent! These products are made with synthetic surfactants which strip your skin of its natural oils and the protective barrier leaving your skin dry and vulnerable to bacteria. That's what gives you the "clean" feeling. This is why I am so passionate about making natural cold pressed soap. Pictured is my coffee scrub soap, tumeric swirl soap and lemongrass soap.

05.01.2022 It's cut time My first sunset soap - setting over the ocean. Not 100% happy with the colours. Should have made the sun more yellow than red. First time using most of the colours and I should have done some test batches but who's got time for that! ... Still pretty happy with how it turned out though! It's an abstract sunset.

05.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.

04.01.2022 Cold pressed flower soaps straight out of the moulds. Aren't they gorgeous! These are in preparation of some special soap bars which will be ready for valentine's day. Watch this space!

04.01.2022 I use a few different natural DIY face masks but my honey and spice face mask/scrub is by far my favourite. It's so easy to make, doesn't require any fancy/expensive ingredients and it makes my skin feel amazing. Both my kids love it because it has been so effective in helping keep their acne under control (along with some select essential oils) - in fact, their acne has basically cleared completely since switching to natural soap, masks and oils. ... For this size jar I use about: 1/2 cup of raw honey - buy from a local bee keeper. If you search you can find several in the Greater Brisbane Region for around $10/kg 1 tbs cinnamon (all spices are ground) 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cumin 1 tbs tumeric 1 tsp ginger Mix in a jar and apply to the face with a foundation brush. Use your fingers to massage spices into your face (and scrub your lips) and then leave for 10-15 minutes before washing off. (It's pretty tasty too). The spices tend to rise to the top so mix well before each use. You can adjust the spices to suit your needs as you become more familiar with it.

03.01.2022 I spent the morning working on the embeds for my Christmas soaps. From the left I have: Santa's belt Reindeer eyes Antlers (I'm so happy with how these turned out! ) Reindeer nose and... Christmas tree stars (still a bit too soft to unmould) Can't wait to put these guys together. I've also attached my soap sketches. I'm not quite following to plan but close enough.

Price dependent on ingredients and essential oils used. DM me for details.

01.01.2022 My latest hot process soaps. I'm so happy with them. I've had some difficulty getting the temperature right with my crock pot so I ended up getting a double boiler insert. It's fabulous. So easy to control the temperature and prevent the soap from drying or overheating. "Honeycomb" soap Unscented, uncoloured Olive oil, rice bran oil, tallow (beef), coconut oil, castor oil, beeswax... Honey and ground oats added ATC "Bigcat Beer" soap: Unscented Tallow (beef), rice bran oil, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil Tiger beer, tumeric in the bottle layer and pencil line
