25.01.2022 Well what fun we have had these school holidays. We've celebrated a birthday, and had art, crafts and cubby houses galore! Now we're looking forward to getting to know our new routine with new friends and some new outings to experience. Hope you all had as much fun as we did, and wishing you all the best for 2019!

24.01.2022 It's December! The holidays are fast approaching and the anticipation for laughter, rest and relaxation is beginning to mount. Our home is a culturally diverse environment with a number of different ways of living, celebrating and just being have come together to enrich our lives. For us Christmas time is about reconnecting with family and showing each other how much we care for them. Family daycare has meant our family has grown this year, and we are so excited to learn h...ow our new children enjoy this time of year. How do you celebrate the end of the year?

21.01.2022 We have been building up our fine motor muscles and developing our hand eye coordination with this morning extensions in the sensory tray

20.01.2022 A little bit of controlled chaos for this mornings antics. :) Yes we did end up with pasta and rice from one side of the living room to the other, and yes we did have itty bits of rice stuck to the soles of our feet, and boy did it feel funny. But we also used our imaginations as we pretended to zoom match box cars around the construction zone, we used serving bowls as half pipes, we used our arms and legs as ramps, and we used truckss to scoop the resources from one zone ...to another. We used all 5 sense to explore; we used our sense of sight and hearing to discover how rice falling onto metal sounds like hail stones hitting a tin roof, we used our sense of smell to experience the scent of rain as it wafted through the window on this muggy day, we used our sense of touch from the tips of our toes to the tops of our heads as rice stuck to our feet and cars raced through our hair and yes they are toddlers so they didn't miss a chance to use their sense of taste to grasp a deeper understanding of the textures and shapes they were using. But oh goodness did we have fun!

19.01.2022 Our art and craft times often involve the children creating their own versions of documenting. As part of my role as an educator, I am continuously gathering observations of each child which I can reflect and analyze on, to ensure I am providing them with the most engaging and developmentally appropriate program and environment. Art and craft times are great opportunity for me to do this with the children as it allows me to have conversations with them about their days and... prompt them to reflect on their own learning and what it was that they really enjoyed about each activity. Most of all they enjoy being involved and feeling that their input is valued.

17.01.2022 Because there is no better classroom than the outdoors, here are a few shots of some recent play spaces I have had set up in the backyard, plus a few cheeky shots of the kids just being in the moment.

17.01.2022 A bit of an update on how our vehicle play has evolved. The children have proven once again they are competent independent learners capable of extending on their own experiences with enthusiasm and great concentration. They have been engaging with others to inquire and share ideas, thus building on their communication skills. The younger children have been engaging in multi-sensory experiences as they observe with interest and ponder the hows, what's, and why's of what is happening. Did you know that children under 3 form 700-1000 new neuron connections in their brain every second?!

06.01.2022 Ready for my little explorers to begin 2019. We're starting the year with a mix of reflecting on our holidays, and enjoying familiar, but always popular resources as we ease our way back into a comfortable and familiar routine.

04.01.2022 We have started our school pick ups and drop offs this week, the kids just love the wagon!

01.01.2022 Explorering the outdoor environment was a theme of interest in our first week of 2019. The children enjoyed planting some new succulents in our palet wall, it was interesting to see what knowledge they already had of gardening, and what seeds can be planted in the future to help that knowledge grow. We also saw some children take on the roles of paleontologists and archeologists. We were able discuss the similarities and differences between the two professions and why they... were important. The children took it on them selves to set up a mini museum by the sign in sheets, so they could share their discoveries with their parents when they arrived. What sort of outdoor activities do your children like to do at your home?

01.01.2022 That horse interest we touched on last week is back again this week, with an added development of animal sound recognition thrown in. So this farm yard has become a focus along side the train tracks. We will be using this interest to build up our literacy and language foundations as we sing nursery rhymes like 'old McDonalds farm' and read books of a similar subject.
