25.01.2022 Earth friendly tips #1 . . . Last week when I posted about #earthday2020 some of you wanted more tips and tricks of how I try and stay Earth friendly so I’m doing a post every day this week with some of the ways I try and make a low impact ... . . . Soap berries is one of my favourite finds to date! I’ve been using soap berries for the last 2 years and I can’t speak highly of them enough . . . Hypoallergenic, vegan, plastic waste free and chemical free but still able to get the odours out of even my Darwin humidity sweat soaked gym clothes, I couldn’t believe it the first time I used them . . . Once the berries are spent (soft and falling apart) they can be composted . . . I’ve also boiled 5-6 berries in a couple of cups of water to create my own fragrance and chemical free hand soap, body wash or for surface cleaning making them liver and earth loving . . . And ordering directly from @that_red_house will get them delivered directly to your door in recyclable packaging (pictured is the starter pack) . . . #earthfriendly #earthloving #chemicalfree #hypoallergenic #veganliving #naturalhealth #natural #naturalhealthnt #liverloving #anaturopathinthent See more

24.01.2022 Earth friendly tips #2 . . . Eat local, eat organic!... . . . Eating local and seasonal produce has so many benefits . . . Not only does locally produced food contain more nutrition (the fresher the better), but there’s also less of a carbon foot print with less kilometres travelled . . . Eating from smaller producers also help them support their families while they work hard to supply us with delicious produce, eating seasonally and from organic and/or biodynamic farms also has less impact on our environment, less use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides . . . There’s no loss choosing local and it’s great for Mother . . . Pictured is local banana, dragonfruit and Passionfruit with homemade granola (all ingredients were purchased from a bulk foods supplier so you can bring your own containers) and coconut yoghurt . . . #earthfriendly #earthloving #chemicalfree #pesticidefree #vegan #plantbasedfood #naturalhealth #naturopath #nutrition #naturalhealthnt #anaturopathinthent See more

09.01.2022 Earth friendly tips #3 . . Personal care items .... . Here are a few of my favourite personal care items. They’re either reusable or biodegradable (or both) and I find these are just as convenient as their plastic and disposable counterparts . . Pictured is a safety razor, locally handmade make up remover pads, a bamboo toothbrush, konjac sponge and (my favourite) a menstrual cup! Not pictured include things like shampoo and conditioner bars, homemade body wash (from the soap berries) and other skincare items I make at home . . I’m not going to lie when I first got my safety razor it probably took me 5 YouTube videos and three days to work up the courage to use it but once I started I never looked back If making the swap, I’d recommend the first few times to make it into a little ritual. Take you time, light candles, draw a bath, exfoliate your skin then prepare The trick with a safety razor to use a quality natural shaving soap or cream and to do small areas at a time with the razor head on an approximate 45 angle. Success with a safety razor is in the angle, and will give you the smoothest shave . . Using a menstrual cup also requires a little patience at the start but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy and convenient It is important to find the correct size and shape for you (my first cup was all wrong) and then getting the hang of inserting it took a couple of attempts But once you get it, you may never want to go back I can wear mine for up to 12 hours so there’s no need to change it during the day if I’m out and about, and can wear it at night when I sleep Please note that this is all about comfort so if it’s not for you don’t be disappointed! There’s plenty of other eco friendly options including washable pads and leak proof underwear! Just make sure whatever you’re using isn’t full of chemicals and residual pesticides . . You don’t have to change everything at once, I found it easier (and wallet friendly) to just replace with these more eco friendly options as I needed to replace my old plastic items There’s no right or wrong way to do it, as long as your intention is there . . #earthfriendly #ecofriendly #plasticfree #lowwaste #naturalhealthnt See more
