24.01.2022 Yes, it’s true that Kindergarten has transformed into First Grade. Yes, children will need to learn academics, listen and sit still. But that certainly doesn’t ...mean that these lessons should be straight-jacketed onto them in the toddler and preschool years. In fact, the funneling down of structured learning is all the more reason to let children play while they can. We must fiercely protect this precious, ever shrinking window of time for our children. More in Don't Let Your Preschoolers Forget How to Play: https://www.janetlansbury.com//dont-let-your-preschoolers/ Play is enough. Play is enough. Play is enough. This should be our educational mantra for the first 5 years.

24.01.2022 Boundaries are important!

23.01.2022 Naturally Kids FDC has the following available: - 1 permanent Tuesday spot (this means the Tuesday would be yours every week) and; - 1 casual Monday & Tuesday spot. ... The Monday & Tuesday spot will be available on a ‘casual’ basis until I need to use these days for my son from September onwards. The casual position might suit someone who requires occasional care or a short term care arrangement. Please PM me for more information or with any questions. Thank you

21.01.2022 We’re busy at the rice tray today, pouring, scooping, filling and tipping. This activity is excellent for strengthening motor skills and hand/eye coordination, extending our vocabulary by giving context to words like empty and full, following rules (e.g we need to keep the rice in the tray. Haha - I’m on repeat this morning!), and introducing early maths and science concepts. Also it’s just FUN!

20.01.2022 I’ve always loved this quote - let the children play!

19.01.2022 Hi I’ve got a permanent Friday spot that’s come up. It’s available next week through to 6th November. Ideally this spot would suit a child around 2 years old who would like a bit of social interaction and fun. The Friday group is a busy little bunch who love trucks, riding bikes and being OUTSIDE!! Send me a txt on 0434 722 595 if you’ve got a little one whom this spot might suit ... Please note: I am pregnant and will be taking around 4-6months off from November so this spot may not suit someone who needs ongoing care or is working as you will need to find alternate care from November.

19.01.2022 Busy little hands this morning

18.01.2022 A small child's mind is like a sponge they take in EVERYTHING. Information is constantly being absorbed from the environment & being imprinted on the unconsci...ous mind. Habits & ideas are established from parents, family, & others who are in close regular contact, so no ideas are in the beginning, of a child’s mind. Children lack the critical factor, which means they have no filters at this stage. So they take everything at face value, accept as true, especially when it comes from their parents Parents are the most trusted & most influence so if you tell a child the sky is purple they will believe you, they have no reason to doubt you because the idea has not been formed in their subconscious mind. It’s important to note that the confusion & blind belief of this period can also lead to the early formation of trauma and other deep problems. This time is a window of development when kids are all eyes & ears. It is during this time they will learn right from wrong, good from bad & use feelings or monitor the responses of their parents to determine what is good or bad. They listen, they see everything & certainly feel the emotion coming from others around them, 2 4 years is a major imprinting time. Always aim to set good examples as monkey see, monkey do.

17.01.2022 Children, like all humans, need movement

17.01.2022 It's always fun to hear what you would add to this list.

15.01.2022 "What parents teach is themselves, as models of what is human - by their moods, their reactions, their facial expressions and actions. These are the real things... parents need to be aware of, and of how they affect their children." - Magda Gerber Love this infographic from The Mom Brain Therapist!

13.01.2022 On the menu today: salmon fish cakes, sweet potato chippies, beetroot, tomato, asparagus & cauliflower These salmon fish cakes are a hit with the kiddos (1-2yr olds) and sooo easy to make! Shape into patties and fry with a bit of olive oil or coconut oil. Big kids and adults love them too! Pictured: before and after

08.01.2022 A long read but a good one

06.01.2022 Eric Carle, author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has died at 91. His book sold 55 million copies worldwide. Appreciating all he gave to our world as he ente...rs another. The story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar began back in 1969 when young graphic designer Eric Carle was feeling bored. "I wasn't thinking of books or anything like that," he says. "I didn't have anything to do, so I took a stack of paper and a hole-punch and I playfully punched holes ... then I looked at them. Straight away I thought of a book worm." Maybe boredom is a good thing?!!!
