23.01.2022 Without being too complicated, this is said well..
22.01.2022 Nice to hear this is being mentioned.. One of the biggest achievements I have when working with horses, not on them, is the horses willingness to cooperate and actually assist me while trimming.. It does not always start this way.. Those of you who I trim for, most likely know my methods, especially if you have a horse with pain, pain related anxiety or anxiety in general, these are the horses I pride myself in working with, they are the most satisfying, and they always hold... a special place in my heart.. I don’t feel it’s necessary to have any horse hopping around, and I certainly don’t want horses snatching feet and ripping my shoulder out of the socket, so, I feel the importance of communication and listening to achieve pleasant experiences is the only way to go..
19.01.2022 I think too many people mistake Confidence for Arrogance. I am a proud barefoot "farrer" who specializes in extreme founder and flipper foot cases. I am Confide...nt in my ability to correctly trim a horse. I am Confident in my ability to save a horses life from years of neglect and pain and otherwise slaughter or euthanasia. I am Confident in my ability to do what the Horse NEEDS! THAT is what this is all about. Being a farrier, or a vet, or a human doctor or anything else. It's not about what the human wants. It's never about what the human wants. Its all about what the Horse NEEDS. That whole "The customer is always right"? WRONG! Of course I sit down and talk and listen to the human. I give them my undivided attention when discussing the case of their horse. And I always try to appease the human. Key word there is Try. Because sometimes? That human, as well intended as they may be, is dumber than . I've spent far too much money, time, effort, blood, sweat and tears being a farrier. I actually went to school for this. And shadowed one of (in my opinion) the BEST farriers East of the Mississippi. I've only been doing this for 4 years. I'm NOT the best. I'm no where near the best. I'm still a nobody in this world. And that's okay. I'm always open to new. I'm always happy to learn. I always want to make the human happy. But it's not about the human. And, I think, at the end of the day, having a happy, healthy, correct horse will make them much happier than one with a botched trim job that they insisted on. Trust me, no sane person subjects themselves to the that a farrier does just because they can. Nobody wants to be pooped on, stepped on, bitten, kicked, trampled, cut, break bones or even risk their life just "because". We dont do it for the money. We dont do it for the fame or glory because, honey, there is none... I dont go home to my family exhausted, beaten, bruised and covered in my own blood and horse shit because it's fun. I dont cry over a flipper footed pony who's never been able to run since he was a colt because I dont care. I dont stare down an angry Jack who wants nothing but to kill me because it's fun. I dont play Vet for the little girl who cant afford a real vet for her sorry little pony because I'm money hungry. I dont sit with the dying horse, waiting for her owner to come home because I'm cold and calculated. I dont ground work the fussy yearling, who's owner is fretting about her poor behavior because I'm arrogant. I dont keep 3 different types of cookies in my pocket (animal cookies, peppermint bites and special low sugar cookies for those with insulin resistance) because I'm mean. If I didnt care, I wouldnt have 2 very special needs senior horses of my own. If I didnt care I'd tell everyone to shove off and not do a damn thing. I do it because I love it. I love changing that horses life for the better Potentially even saving that horses life I am proud. I am passionate. And I am Confident. I am a farrier, because of the horse. FOR the horse. Its NOT the Human. It's never the human. It's the Horse. And it's always been... For the love of the Horse.
