23.01.2022 an say so much about the benefits of yoga and why everyone should be doing it, but I will try and keep this as short as possible haha and before you say it, no you do not have to be flexible to do yoga! Yoga is great for not only improving flexibility but also building strength and to hell calm the mind at the very least. If you can't get to a class or if you prefer the comfort of your own home, there are heaps of YouTube videos and apps to try! My favorite is the DownDog a...pp. I like that it is totally customisable to suit your every need from type and length of practice, to even the instructors voice. I also like the guidance provided to make sure you are holding each pose in the correct alignment, activating in the right areas to gain the most benefit and to be safe. Don't worry if you can't hold the full version of each pose or can't hold each pose for the given time, this is the beauty of yoga, you do what is right for your body in each present moment! This app has both a free and a paid version, the free version is plenty enough for me in between actual yoga classes (when They are allowed to resume in this unusual time). 19.01.2022 GET MOVING!!!! If there is one thing I can recommend to everyone, it is to move your body! Here I am performing joint articulations from the feet up; moving each joint in all of its possible ranges of movement. Movements should be slow and controlled (a good analogy I have been taught is to imagine you are moving through really thick liquid). I like to do 5-10 reps of each movement to really lubricate the joint and rid any pockets of gas (that's the popping and cracking you m...ay hear which is totally normal and safe as long as it is pain free). The whole body should take at least 15mins. If you feel a nice stretch at anytime, pause there and direct the breath to that area to help release tension. If you experience pain in any of the movements, try and make the movement smaller. Try to do at least 2 joints a day! #stayhome #moveyourbody #jointarticulations
