AusPost needs staff and equipment to sort and deliver very few letters, which creates financial loss. PARCELS cannot be emailed. This makes parcel business so profitable that it pays also for the letters AND makes a huge profit, ... also for Australians. WHAT THIS MEANS * Having the two business together makes AusPost profitable, even luxurious. * Taxpayers don’t need to subsidise letter services. * Privately owned rural post offices employ families who run them. CUNNING SCHEMERS? Despite the success of AusPost’s business model, there was talk of dividing it and selling off the Parcels Business to a private owner. Who was talking? It was on the grapevine. An undefined group of bureaucrats and politicians? This talk became pressure that Holgate felt. She spoke out about a plan to sell off the thriving parcel business. WATCH THIS PATTERN! This meant that somebody would get rich on parcels while Australians would be subsiding the costly letters and getting poorer. Just like in the case of renewable energy. The same pattern.
