23.01.2022 This idea for this blog post came to me while contemplating a week coming up all too soon as a soccer Mum. Canberra...July...time for ginger tea!!

22.01.2022 So it’s 2 degrees outside and almost time to leave for our first soccer match of the Kanga Cup. Thank goodness, my travel mug is filled with fresh ginger and cinnamon quill tea-just looking at it makes me feel warmer (& the cinnamon stops me looking at sugary foods to boost my energy) I always forget just how cold Canberra gets, so grateful for sunshine!! Hope you are all warm & well (and go the FKFC U13’s ).

21.01.2022 Two of my fave herbs in the Natural Potential garden! As a redhead who loves to spend loads of time outdoors (but gets sunburnt very easily), the Aloe Vera flowers on the left are so reassuring heading into Spring and Summer & how awesome do they look?! The Lavender was planted years ago with my daughter & its beautiful presence will help to keep to me from feeling her absence too much over the next 5 months while she is away in the UK on student exchange

10.01.2022 Some perspective after a big couple of weeks for me. So grateful for some rain and being able to take the time to slow down, even just for a moment. Hope your day has a few moments where you can slow down and get a different perspective too x

10.01.2022 **YOU OUGHTA DRINK SOME MORE WATER** Feeling tired, cranky, fighting the urge for a sweet or salty snack, feel like you need another coffee? Do you have dry or 'problem' skin? Are you prone to digestive issues such as constipation? Chances are you are dehydrated and 'oughta drink some more water' (the title of this month's blog). WATER is my favourite nutrient and one of the most (if not the most) important for our body. ... Water plays a role in nearly every function of the body from helping to keep our brain functioning and our energy levels up, to helping us digest our food and keeping our skin healthy. The recommended daily fluid intake is 2.1-2.6L, more if you're exercising or in warmer temperatures. As we head into the warmer months, here are some helpful tips to make sure you stay hydrated. 1) EAT YOUR WATER-foods with a high water content include melons, berries, peaches, cucumber, celery, apples, pears, and green leafy veggies. 2) MAKE DRINKING WATER MORE FUN-I hear you, many people find plain water a bit boring. Herbal tea is a great winter warmer (try some ginger and cinnamon), or in the warmer months, add some fresh fruit and herbs to your water bottle (lemon slices and mint are so refreshing too). 3) CREATE A NEW HABIT BY ADDING IT TO A CURRENT ONE. Have a think about what you do at least 4-5 times a day and make those the times when you have a glass of water. Could be checking your emails? After you go to the bathroom? 4) REMIND YOURSELF. There are many free apps (such as My Water Balance) that can be used to track fluid intake and they can be really helpful in getting you started. I also find that having a great water bottle in my line of sight is often enough to remind me to drink!! Water is just one piece of the puzzle though if you aren't feeling your best. Please feel free to contact me to help you improve your health! Cheers, Clare x
