22.01.2022 Whilst on your Natural Sciences Loop journey, make sure you stop at the Angellala Bridge, located just a short 20-minute drive south of Charleville. This historic site was the very spot where a truck carrying 53 tonnes of ammonium nitrate rolled, caught fire and exploded in 2014, destroying both the highway and rail bridge. - Stop and read all about this catastrophic event on the information boards that have since been erected on site. Six original pylons were salvaged from the disaster and have also been erected at the memorial site. - #experiencecharleville #charlevilleqld #angellalabridge #seeaustralia #naturalsciencesloop

Come and check it out whilst on your Natural Sciences Loop trip, and learn a thing or two about what went on here during WWII!

14.01.2022 Next week on the 5th of September, marks six years since the devastating Angellala Bridge explosion which destroyed the Angellala Bridge. After a truck carrying 50 tonnes of ammonium nitrate rolled over and exploded on the Mitchell Highway, the bridge and surrounding area was totalled, closing the highway and cutting a major link to the Outback for tourists and freight. - It was a miracle that no one died on that day, although several people were seriously injured in the disaster which locals still recall vividly to this day. A memorial site with information boards has since been erected at the bridge, so if you’re heading south on the Natural Sciences Loop from Charleville, stop in and take a read an incredible story!
