22.01.2022 It’s time to show everyone what we did to improve the conditions of the pond featured in our ‘Common Mistakes Made When Building Ponds & Water Features’ Video. Firstly we added a stronger pump, external pressurised filter, and a better quality flow control valve to the system so that the water was actually being cleaned and filtered instead of just moved around. Secondly, we added a strainer to the pump inlet to prevent large debris getting drawn into the plumbing and cau...sing a blockage. Thirdly we added plumbing to the outlet of the pump, extending the water flow to the far end of the water feature, and caped it off with a small manifold of jets to create continued flow across the full length and width of the pond (see if you can find the little black jets hidden between the rocks). As for the sealant, there was nothing that could be done to save the base of the water feature. As the base is already rusted, it no longer provides a suitable substrate for a new quality sealant to be applied to it, so at the current time, no repairs to the poor sealant job have been made. If the client does eventually decide they can no longer stand the unsightly sealant job, the entire water feature base will need to be replaced. So if you’ve got a pond or water feature that’s seen better days, give us a call on 0408 054 183 to see how we can help you get your water feature back to looking it’s best! #natureatwork #pond #ponds #water #waterfeature #waterfeatures #fixerupper #improvement #beforeandafter

14.01.2022 Another busy week for the team at Nature at Work. Well done team, enjoy the weekend.
14.01.2022 We love MARGINALS! Here at Nature at Work, we're huge fans of marginal plants! Marginal plants are plants who have their root system submerged in water, but grow tall foliage out of the surface of the water. These plants are fantastic natural filters for ponds and are the best way to transition from your pond out into the surrounding landscape. So like this post if you love getting your feet wet like these lean, green filter machines! #natureatwork #pond #ponds #autumn #fall #leaves #redleaves #outdoorliving #plants #marginalplants #bogplants #wetlands #wetfeet
12.01.2022 Racks for the new store arrived today. Looking forward to getting these up
11.01.2022 Re-Lined and Re-Styled! This lovely little backyard feature was causing all sorts grief for its owners. The liner was leaking in several places, the roots and sediment deposits under the liner had caused their bowl feature to become off-centre, and they had no effective filtration despite housing a large population of fish. Luckily our pond team here at Nature at Work were able to get this water feature back to its best! After removing the old liner, our staff re-leveled th...e surface under the pond, and covered it with new sheets of underlay and high quality liner. They then went ahead reinstating the bowl feature in its central spot in the pond, before fashioning a small bog filter out of the bowl and some garden supplies the owners had on hand. The pond now looks fantastic, sporting clear water, healthy plants, and lots of happy fish! #natureatwork #pond #ponds #autumn #fall #leaves #redleaves #outdoorliving #repair #leak #bog #wetland #liner #goldfish
10.01.2022 There’s no better way to keep your pond looking fantastic, than by having a regular and scheduled maintenance routine! Less intrusive, but more frequent maintenance is the best way to support the healthy biological systems that naturally establish in your pond. By keeping these systems of bacteria healthy and well established, they return the favour by promoting crystal clear water quality, and healthy plants and fish. These photos show the journey of a water feature that ...we service every three weeks. The first photo shows how clean the water feature still looks even when it’s time for it’s next service. The second photo is the original state of the water feature when we began servicing it. The third is the water feature after its initial service. #natureatwork #pond #ponds #waterfeature #crystalclear #progress #regular

So if your pond or aquarium is in need of some attention, there's no need to hesitate. Give us a call on 0408 054 183 to book in your next service.

06.01.2022 Here at Nature at Work, we come across lots of poorly installed ponds and water features, normally the result of being installed by people who lack the specialist knowledge and training required to successfully install a long standing water feature. Here are 7 common MISTAKES we’ve found, when non-professionals install water features (all on the same pond!). Check in later today to see what we did to improve this pond! #natureatwork #pond #ponds #water #waterfeature #waterfeatures #mistakes #payaprofessional #moneypit
06.01.2022 Welcome to Autumn! Autumn is famous for turning landscapes red, and for the breeze peeling leaves from trees as they descend into their winter dormancy. These leaves have to end up somewhere though and unfortunately they always seem to find their way into our ponds! Whether they're getting matted in plants, clogging pumps, or dying the water a dark tea colour, there is only one really effective way to make sure that leaves don't spoil your pond. Skimmers are a fantastic wa...y of removing leaves before they have a chance to collect in difficult to clean parts of your pond! When correctly set up they also have the added benefits of increasing oxygenation, increasing water circulation, and reducing pump maintenance. So if you're interested in adding a skimmer to your pond or water feature, give us a call on 0408 054 183 to found out what the most suitable option is for you! #natureatwork #pond #ponds #autumn #fall #leaves #redleaves #outdoorliving
