09.01.2022 The Supreme Court today granted WOTCH an interim injunction over five logging coupes in Toolangi and Black Range state forests! The coupes, which were set to be... logged this month, are home to the Sooty Owl, Powerful Owl and Greater Glider threatened species already pushed closer to extinction by last summer’s bushfires. This gorgeous Powerful Owl was found at one of the coupes that will no longer be logged this month. Listen closely to hear the distinctive deep hoots. This decision keeps the chainsaws at bay for a short time, but there is much more to be done to protect these incredible animals. 06.01.2022 FACIAL MASK WEARING CAN CAUSE ACNE. Prolonged wearing of masks can cause adverse skin reactions such as acne and contact dermatitis, even if you don't normally suffer from such conditions. Masks increase temperature, moisture and friction thus making the skin more susceptible to irritation. Masks also trap any bacteria that would normally escape into the atmosphere rather than hang around multiplying on your face. Although it's difficult to give prescriptive advice as everyon...e's skin is different, there are some simple things everyone can do to prevent mask-induced skin problems. Cleanse and moisturize your face before and after using a mask.Try using a lighter face cream or oil than usual if you are wearing a face mask for many hours of the day. Make sure your hands are also really clean before touching your mask Try to avoid wearing makeup under your mask. If you do wear makeup be aware that the increased humidity increases sweating and opens pores, makeup can therefore block your pores. Treat break out pimples with organic Tea Tree Essential Oil, Lavender, or Bergamot (night time only as phototoxic). A drop of Eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil on your mask might also help, but be careful as these volatile oils whilst anti-influenza and protective can make your eyes water.
