25.01.2022 Over the last month, we've been outside nearly all day, every day, and our confidence in free and open exploration of nature has developed amazingly. We are also moving towards a focus on open ended play materials, to encourage the children's individual creativity, by using materials with no set objective/purpose. The children have been actively following each other around, and where one goes, they soon all follow. Early childhood is all about connection and relationships, and it has become the most joyful thing to see these little faces light up when they arrive and see their friends already here. We see how early childhood experiences are so important to lifelong outcomes, how the early environment literally becomes embedded in the brain and changes its architecture. ~ Andrew S. Garner

25.01.2022 Well I cant believe we are already past mid year and have been officially open for a year now, keeping all our beautiful children on, plus one. Although things are up and down with the weather, our awesome full body waterproof suits have allowed us to get out and about in the rain, without a second thought. There is nothing better than seeing the children with full confidence, jumping in all our muddy puddles, without restriction. We continue to thrive on messy play acti...vities and have explored lots of different sensory trays and childrens interests. What could be better than using all our senses, yes taste for some, to imagine, create, explore, observe, predict, investigate and cooperate with others. One of favorite activities recently has been feeding the cockatoos that have made our yard their regular stop. The children are fascinated by their feeding behaviour, size and the noise they make. Children are naturally creative. It is our job to give them the freedom, materials and space to let their creativity blossom to its full potential ~ Jean Vant Hul

25.01.2022 Weve had a busy past couple of weeks in preparation for our opening! The windows have been safety filmed, our swingset has been set up, and weve started adding to our future nature-focused outdoor play area, with some tree trunk jumping stumps. Our indoor play space has had some major upgrading, including adding additional cube units for open choice play, and the TV has been wall mounted for safety. Lots more to do but our progression has been very exciting, especially for our little man, who has been testing out all the equipment :). Have a very happy Easter!

25.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping warm on this freezing day! Though not my husband, who has been slaving away the past night and day to start creating our epic sandpit! Here are the early stages of creating the main frame to the sandpit, which will be bordered by two different types of stones, plants and a bench seat. The kids are going to have so much fun in this (and likely me too). The sand shown is not the play sand Also, a little experience example based on my sons dinosaur interest at the moment.. simply by combining a few natural elements, an information book and some plastic dinosaurs to explore, hours of fun have already been had!

24.01.2022 Im not sure whose idea this amount of mulch was..("Its so huggge"- quote Jenson) but we are certainly aiming high for our backyard spruce up! Everyone has been working hard on the sandpit frame, fences are all anti-climbing and all is ready for the truck load (literally) of mulch to be spread out back!

24.01.2022 I love just observing children, in this case my 2 year old son. To some this might just look like hes just playing.. to me, there is so much more going on. He is categorising his animals, counting, mimicking his dad putting together a new shelf, remembering and role playing singing Happy Birthday, creating a birthday cake with candles, exploring the texture (and taste) of dirt and its uses, nurturing and feeding his animals (responsibility), and all the while having fun! He is not being forced or coerced into learning, but naturally taking part in science, maths and biology, with a little guidance, sharing ideas and close observation. What is your child learning today?

22.01.2022 We have been busy little bees here at Natures Little Explorers, welcoming all sorts of native birds, having a new friend join us and celebrating lots of special occasions. Our loose parts play is developing as we add to our open ended and recycled resources, encouraging our imagination and creativity. Doing this outdoors is what we love best, and rain or sunshine, we are out there exploring. I will understand problem solving, self-exploration, decision making, number relationships, structures, complex vocabulary, creativity, imaginative thinking and my natural world when I am big...because I play outside while I am little.- How We Learn

21.01.2022 Messy play! Here at Natures Little Explorers we cant get enough of sensory and messy play. This opened ended, textual play allows for so much creativity and learning to take place!

20.01.2022 Welcome to a wonderful new year at Natures Little Explorers! We are so thrilled to begin this year fresh and excited, ready to continue growing and learning together In 2020 we are fully booked, with a wait list already starting for 2021. Feel free to pop me a message if you are keen to jump onto that list. Love this quote as a start to our year! Lets remember our little ones are capable of so much more than rote learning and rigid concepts. ... Since the jobs that our preschoolers will do probably dont exist yet, our priority is to teach them the skills to adapt and inquire and question and cooperatelife skills. So much more useful than rigid concepts such as the alphabet. ~ Caroline Bellouse

20.01.2022 Thank you all for the overwhelming support and responses regarding Natures Little Explorers! I would have never guessed there would be so much need for good quality care in my area. Due to this, I have added frequently asked questions (FAQ) to the Notes tab, to help navigate some of the finer details :). Please feel free to inbox with further enquiries, and I will respond as soon as I can.

17.01.2022 Our little explorers doing what they do best, imagining, creating, bonding, communicating, having fun and learning, all whilst playing When we make play the foundation of learning, we teach the whole child. ~ Vince Gowmon

14.01.2022 Welcome back to Natures Little Explorers 2019! We are so lucky to have the same gorgeous children staying on in 2019, so we are looking forward to where the year will take us together! The garden has been growing like crazy over the holidays, and the children have been loving getting to try some of our home grown, organic vegetables each day.... Our focus for the year is to continue to build on our outdoor play and environment, to create a space where children are confident, creative, take risks, explore freely and develop an understanding of all the amazing things in our natural environment. "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better"~Albert Einstein

10.01.2022 What an incredible first 6 months we have had here at Natures Little Explorers! We have grown together, laughed, cried, made friends, experienced new things, engaged daily in our outdoor environment, developed empathy, the list goes on. So much has happened over the past 6 months and I am extremely grateful for the amazing families here and my own very supportive one. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!

09.01.2022 We are LOVING this amazing weather, and look forward to many more sunny days! Our learning continues as we dive into a variety of play based activities incorporating maths, science, art, biology, music, dance and so much more. Through play, these areas well known in a school curriculum, are naturally embedded into our program, through activities such as cooking (maths: measuring, counting & dividing and science: observing a liquid turn into a solid), experimenting with paint and dye (science- colour mixing), free and child guided access to open ended resources with lots of natural elements for art, and exploring life in our backyard and researching what we are unsure of (biology). Most importantly, we are learning how to understand each other, show empathy and respect, and developing beautiful friendships

08.01.2022 For a small child there is no division between playing and learning; between the things he or she does just for fun and things that are educational. The child learns while living and any part of living that is enjoyable is also play. ~ Penelope Leac
