22.01.2022 Hyaluronic Acid. !! Don’t pay ridiculous amounts of money for it. And check strength. Litres selling for $65 aren’t the same as my litre. I would sell that strength for $45!! I can tell you comparative prices. Eg. Hyalogic. Lubrisyn. Synovate. Luronica, Hyaglyde. Infusion HA . These are All much more $$$ for equivalent strength and not ‘better quality’. It’s Marketting spin!!! I use human pharmaceutical grade HA. High molecular weight.

19.01.2022 Update on deliveries in these crazy times. We are finding big delays with Australia Post and some orders are taking over two weeks with normal mail services. Express services are usually faster but still slower than usual. Also our deliveries of some raw materials from overseas to make your supplements are also being delayed similar time frames. So..... Please don’t leave it to the last minute to order what you are about to run out of!. We have tracking for all orders so can keep you posted with progress but delivery times are out of our control at present. We are investigating courier options too. So please plan ahead and be patient. And of course - Stay safe.

19.01.2022 From: Bairnsdale Animal Hospital - Eastwood Vets ***** Bush fire information for cattle and horse owners ***** Heavy metal toxicity - during the stress of a bu...sh fire, horses and cattle activate fight or flight mode which results in them using up all there magnesium stores. Once magnesium is depleted in their bodies they will go looking for sources of magnesium to replenish the bodies stores. In bush fire the most available and highest source of magnesium and salts is in the ash from building that have burnt. Ash from a bush fire once in their stomachs settles out on the bottoms and becomes as hard as concrete. Immediately this may result in cases of colic, but long term the heavy metals in the ash from building that have burnt seep into the horses system and can cause heavy metal toxicity. This can take up to 6 months to develop and the easiest way to prevent it is through feeding practices now. Try to feed horses off the ground as much as possible. Feed hay on tarps, rice hulls or rice shavings so that the horses aren't picking up ash as they go. Water is also another source of ash containing heavy metals so keeping small amount of fresh water available and changing regularly is important. Animals drinking from damns, especially in drought conditions, will get large amount of heavy metals from the damn. Deep damns may be o.k. as the heavy metals settle out tot he bottom and usually the first 6 inches of water is not contaminated. Supplementing magnesium - find a good quality magnesium supplement and feed at twice the label recommendation for the first week. Continue at the label recommended dose for 3 months. Radiant heat - During a bush fire animals will have experienced extreme radiant heat which may not be evident immediately. Radiant heat causes the subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin) to boil. With time if the fat remains hot hair will start to fall out, an abscess will form and burst and you can be left with a large difficult to manage wound. When you find animals that may have been exposed to radiant heat hose with cold water to help the subcutaneous fat cool and reduce formation of these abscess. Hot ash - animals walking around on bush fire effected land will be picking up hot ash in their hooves. This will look OK at first but the ash sets like cement in the hoof and maintains it heat. With time this will cause damage to the blood vessles in the feet and result in animals becoming laminitic, which may or may not be treatable. In order to prevent animals becoming laminitic remove them from bush fire effected paddocks whenever possible. Otherwise clean out feet twice daily. Feeding - when supplement feeding animals in bush fire zones be very careful not to overfeed on high quality feed such as lucerne. Instead one biscuit of lucerne and ab lib (overfeed) on shitty grass hay. Be sure to spread they hay around to encourage normal grazing/roaming whilst eating. Overfeeding on high quality feeds such as lucerne has potential to create a whole other set of problems. See more

04.01.2022 Herbs and your horse. As an equine and human medical herbalist for over 25 years. I find it difficult to see people with no herbal medicine qualifications selling dried herbs and advertising then for medicinal effects. Any qualified practicing herbalist knows that dried herbs have no standardisation for quality or effect so can be unreliable for a therapeutic effect, batch to batch. Qualified medical herbalists prescribe medical grade standardised liquid herbal extracts w...hich are are considered as ‘medicines’. They are only available to and dispensed by qualified herbalists and have Standardised therapeutic content and reliability . Also they are much more potent and importantly not more expensive per serve by comparison !! So definitely use a qualified equine herbalist for your horse’s herbs. You will get a professional consultation and effective remedies. There are some herbs that are not made into liquid extracts but most are. Eg Rosehip, chamomile, devils claw, celery seed, detox herbs, turmeric! I make mixes for example for stringhalt. Ross river. Hormones. Respiratory. Anxiety.Substi-bute - But also they are made for your individual horse. Not a one size fits all dried blend with unreliable effect. Take home message. Consult a qualified equine herbalist for liquid extracts instead of dried herbs . And - all holistic practitioners would be looking at your horse’s diet first, as nutrition is the base of health and if you don’t start there, no remedy can be expected to have its best outcome, as base health will still be lacking. I am also a qualified equine and human nutritionist. And consults are free of charge. PM me for help See more
