24.01.2022 Sometimes no plan is the best plan... On Sunday I went down to Lake Currimundi. Not for any particular type of photos...I just decided to take one lens out for a walk and see what I could find. Turns out I found quite a bit - no award winners here but an afternoon well spent all the same.

24.01.2022 My newest Youtube video is a companion to the one I uploaded a few days ago. That one was about editing a RAW file of a wildlife image, now I am doing the same for a landscape. Take a look if you want to see how I do things and be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. https://youtu.be/Hvq-aPZK9P8

23.01.2022 In response to several requests, last night I uploaded my first Youtube video about developing an image from a RAW file to a finished photo. For anyone interested to see my process, check it out and be sure to SUBSCRIBE if you haven't already... https://youtu.be/bIdfTV_6Jmg

22.01.2022 I went back to Lake Baroon on Thursday to photograph the Red Backed Wrens but my most interesting find of the day was on the way back to the carpark... If anyone has an ID for the snake I would be glad to know what it's called.

22.01.2022 I haven't tried a Milky Way photo in ages (and by ages I mean since my last tour in 2019!) so after my outing with the birds yesterday I stayed on after sunset to grab this shot from Coolum.

21.01.2022 I was back at Point Arkwright yesterday afternoon. The birds were not very active and opportunities were few and far between, so I was happy to nail at least one perfect shot of a White-Bellied Sea Eagle.

21.01.2022 A few days ago I caught up with a good friend who needed to get out of the house. He recently got a new camera so we went up to Point Arkwright to try our luck with birds in flight. We had a LONG wait before there was any real action but that's OK, that gave us plenty of time to chat and just enjoy being by the sea. Finally the birds came out to play and gave us a few nice photo opportunities.

20.01.2022 PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOPS 2021 https://naturesimage.com.au/worksho/photography-essentials/ Workshop season is over for this year but it won't be long before people start buying/giving/unwrapping their fancy new camera purchases...a whole new generation of people ready to step into the world of creative photography. So DATES ARE NOW POSTED on the website for my first two workshops for 2021, on the last two weekends in January. Click the link for all the info. GIFT VOUCHERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOPS AND ONE-ON-ONE TUITION

19.01.2022 The bird experiences keep coming. A couple of days ago I was at Lake Baroon on a completely different project when I spotted this Azure Kingfisher. It used to be a regular but I haven't seen it for a long time...so it was nice to spot it again in the usual spot.

18.01.2022 ONE-ON-ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/ This is how my day with Kellie ended on Sunday. What would you like to learn for your day of one-on-one? I can teach you the basics or we can concentrate on something more specialised...macro, wildlife etc. Birds in flight is a very popular subject. Click the link for more info and then contact me when you are ready to plan your day. Gift vouchers are available too!

18.01.2022 I had a great day of ONE-ON-ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION at Australia Zoo yesterday. We started out expecting the weather to be awful and we just planned to 'make the most of it.' But the rain stopped and the sun came out soon after...and it just turned out to be one of those days when the animals really put on a show. Nicolee has done workshops before with me but has been out of practice for a while, so the day was all about getting her photography mojo back. Perfect way to do it! https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/

17.01.2022 Also taken yesterday...a first for me. A Grey Goshawk spotted near Maleny.

17.01.2022 On Sunday I hosted my first Butterfly House Photography Workshop at Bribie Island in over two years. It was a beautiful afternoon and great to finally get to share this experience with a new group of friends. Some people had plenty of questions, some were just happy to be out taking photos in such a perfect venue. When the butterfly house closed we headed across to Banksia Beach for some bird photography...a great afternoon from start to finish.

17.01.2022 It's that time of year... People often contact me wanting to buy a workshop booking for a family member or friend, and this is the time of year when the calls really start rolling in. So I want to let you know that I sell gift vouchers, both for my PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS workshops and for ONE-ON-ONE TUITION. And because right now they are the same price, you don't even have to choose. You pay for the booking, they choose the option and the date. More info on the website: https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/gift-vouchers/

16.01.2022 ONE-ON-ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/ It's actually hard to narrow down the selection from our day at the zoo to just a few images. We had so many great opportunities. Perhaps my favourite shot was the new cobra in the reptile house...but it really was a day full of highlights. Contact me when you are ready to plan your day of one-on-one...I can tailor a day to suit you, your experience level and your interests. Click the link for more details and then give me a call! https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/

16.01.2022 My big weekend of bird photography continued with another day of ONE ON ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION at Lake Baroon yesterday. Julie was also keen on wildlife photography so we went exploring and had a surprising variety of opportunities...including a very unexpected encounter with a Red-Bellied Black snake. https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/

14.01.2022 Something completely different...a few days ago I visited Imbil, at the north end of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, as part of a new project (which I may tell you about some time). This old disused rail bridge was the highlight photo subject of the visit.

13.01.2022 BUTTERFLY HOUSE WORKSHOPS ARE BACK! https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/butterfly-house/ After a 12-month break, I held my latest workshop at the Bribie Island Butterfly House back in May and it was a fantastic afternoon for everyone. This is a great chance to work on your close-up photography with some of nature's most beautiful subjects. The next workshop is on SUNDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 27TH and half the bookings have already sold. All the info is on the website: https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/butterfly-house/

13.01.2022 To cap off a big weekend of photography, on Sunday I held my latest day of One-On-One Photography Tuition. Kellie has only recently bought her first DSLR (a Canon 90D) and wanted to learn properly from the start. We spent half our day at Mary Cairncross Park before heading down to the lake for a rewarding afternoon of practice. Kellie was a great student and picked things up quickly...with practice there will be no stopping her!

12.01.2022 The Sunday afternoon session at the workshop is open-ended so people can go home whenever they choose. But yesterday half the group stayed right to the very end of the day and despite a pretty grey afternoon, they were rewarded with a pretty special sunset. A terrific end to a great weekend.

12.01.2022 AUSTRALIA ZOO PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/australia-zoo/ Just one spot left for my workshop at Australia Zoo tomorrow. The forecast is perfect so we should be in for a great day. Why not join us as we work on our camera skills with some of the most colourful characters around! All info is on the website: https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/australia-zoo/

12.01.2022 My latest Youtube video shows - step by step - my approach to processing two photos from my recent Botanic Gardens outing, using Adobe Camera RAW. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/wV5_f1Tl_4k

11.01.2022 I just had a new sale on Redbubble! Usually my RB sales are smaller things like greeting cards, but this one is a bit different: two throw pillows featuring bird photos including this shot taken in Mapleton a few years ago.

11.01.2022 On Friday I enjoyed a day at Coolum for another session of ONE ON ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION. Andrew wanted to improve his skills on photographing birds in flight. Despite the usual ospreys and eagles not turning up, we still had a really productive afternoon, especially with the numerous fly-byes from all the Australian Gannets...plus whatever other birds we saw on a beautiful winter afternoon. https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/

10.01.2022 I live in a beautiful area but sometimes I need to remind myself to get my camera out and photograph my own neighbourhood. These are a few pics taken just minutes from home in the past few days.

09.01.2022 ONE-ON-ONE PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/ On Wednesday it was all about birds once again. This time I went to the customer's home at Palmwoods. Manny's had bought some of the best Canon gear but was struggling to get sharp shots of the many birds on his property. So we spent some time on exposure settings and some time on autofocus options. The results were amazing - he seemed to make 10 years worth of progress in just a couple o...f hours! The property is a bird-lover's heaven and in the afternoon we had plenty to practice on...here are a few of my shots from yesterday. How do you want to spend your day of one-on-one photography tuition? Click the link and contact me so we can tailor a schedule to take your photography to the next level. https://naturesimage.com.au/workshops/one-on-one-tuition/

09.01.2022 Yesterday I climbed Mount Ngungun for the first time in a few months, with a couple of friends. A beautiful clear Autumn day with not a cloud in the sky. Nice to cap off a bit of exercise with a view like this!

09.01.2022 SPECIAL PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP NEXT WEEKEND! https://naturesimage.com.au//portrait-photography-special/ - WHEN: Saturday May 22nd from 2.00pm - WHERE: Ben Bennet Botanical Park, Caloundra... - COST: JUST $50 PER PERSON! I will be teaching essential skills for camera technique, posing, composition and working with natural light. Experienced local models will be joining us to help you work on your skills and take home some classing images. This special event was organised for a private camera group but unfortunately they were not able to get as many people on board as expected. That means there are a few vacancies to fill at an incredibly low price! Hope you will join us.

06.01.2022 I made a quick visit to the Bribie Island Butterfly House yesterday. I haven't been for many months so it was fun to indulge in an hour or so of photography among all that colour.

05.01.2022 I have had a couple of sales on Redbubble this week, a greeting card of one of my earliest pictures - a kangaroo on the beach - plus an iPhone case of this green tree python. This is going to the United States. It's always fun waking up to an email letting me know that someone else around the world is getting some joy from my work.

05.01.2022 Woke up to the news of another sale on Redbubble today! This time it's an image of an adult African Elephant with two young, taken in Tanzania last year. This one has been quite popular with several sales since it was first uploaded. You can click the image for a closer look and see all the many products available on Redbubble.

03.01.2022 Here's a new shot that's a bit different for me and getting heaps of attention and praise on my Flickr page. Taken at Banksia Beach on Bribie Island, with the camera almost touching the ground at a "Crabs-Eye View."

02.01.2022 PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOPS https://naturesimage.com.au/worksho/photography-essentials/ My workshop at the end of May is SOLD OUT so I have just posted dates for the next one on July 17-18. Join me for a weekend in Maleny and learn more in two days than most people discover in two years! This workshop is the perfect introduction to creative photography and has helped over 2,000 people since I began teaching in 2008. Click the link for more info and hope to see you there. https://naturesimage.com.au/worksho/photography-essentials/

01.01.2022 PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOPS https://naturesimage.com.au/worksho/photography-essentials/ I had a great time at my fully-booked workshop on the weekend. A really fun group of people with a variety of cameras, all making great leaps forward with their photography knowledge and skills. We finished with a visit to Lake Baroon on Sunday afternoon...it was mostly overcast and photo opportunities were a bit hard to come by but everyone had a great time practicing right to the e...nd. The next workshop is on July 17th-18th, with bookings available now on the website. Click the link and join us! https://naturesimage.com.au/worksho/photography-essentials/
