20.01.2022 BEAUTY TIP: dark & puffy eyes Some of us suffer from dark Circles & puffiness around the eyes. It’s one of the most difficult cosmetic problems to cover with makeup. There are two really good tech-niques for reducing them. The first is a really quick and simple massage technique. It will help to improve the metabolism of the tissue around the eyes, helping to remove toxins that contribute to dark circles and fluid retention which contributes to puffiness. Like any massage ...technique it's best to do this regularly for maximum benefit. BUT as we all know this is a delicate area, with very fine skin and you must be very gentle and DON'T DRAG THE SKIN, or you could stretch it. Cleansing provides the perfect minute to do it and the cleanser will help lubricate your fingers and prevent drag-ging. Method: 1. Now very carefully with your fingertips, locate the edge of the bone that circles un-derneath the eye socket. It runs about a cm or so below the eye, going from the inner corner of the eye, near the bridge of the nose, downwards then along underneath the eye and upwards to its outer corner. 2. The technique we use here is a very gentle acupressure. Simply touch your finger-tip lightly to the inner edge of the bone. Very lightly and gently press against the in-ner edge of the bone, just for about two seconds. 3. Then gently remove your fingertip straight outwards, without dragging it along the bone at all. Replace it gently along the same bone about 1/2 cm to the side and re-peat. This way you do a light acupressure all along the bone, every 1/2 cm or so, from the inner to outer corner of the eye and then back along again. This will soften the lit-tle muscles there and help with the flow and draining of cellular fluids. The other technique which you probably already know is the application of cold tea bags to reduce puffiness. Amazing! And it works quickly because tea is astringent. It's really good if you've been crying, or had a bad sleep and have to go somewhere. Black or green tea will do but no milk! It binds the tea. Just boil water, dunk the tea bag enough to get the tea leaves well hydrated and activated. Let it cool, even put it in the fridge for a minute and then squeeze a bit out - but not all because you don't want it to be dry against your skin. Now lie down and pat the tea bag over your closed eye and rest for 5 or more minutes. It shouldn't be so wet that it runs into your eye. It can be a lifesaver!

18.01.2022 BEAUTY TIP #2 : for a more beautiful mouth This simple massage technique works on the round muscle that moves the lips. If you form your mouth into an ' O', then you've found it. The method is similar to that used for the eyes, and helps to reduce fine lines around the mouth and tone the lips which helps maintain their shape. It also helps to make the mouth a bit more expressive because making muscles more supple makes them more active. When I learnt all of these techniques, ...Continue reading

06.01.2022 OUR FAVOURITE BEAUTIFUL INGREDIENTS # 1 Helichrysum Essential oil This is probably our very favourite essential oil, over Frankincense and Rose. It's an uncommon essential oil and chances are you haven't even heard of it. ... Helichrysum belongs to the Camphorous group of essential oils, along with oils like Peppermint and Eucalyptus. It has a beautiful perfume, sweet and herbaceous but with that delicious camphorous bite. The best variety is Helichrysum Italicum which is native to the dry, rocky and sandy grounds around the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, droughts in this area have caused a world shortage over recent years and prices have soared to as high as a few dollars per drop. Helichrysum has been used in the area for thousands of years as a medicinal plant. It has natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which makes it good for the whole body. It's also a great liver tonic and free radical scavenger. In stimulating the liver to clean up toxins, Helichrysum brightens and clears the complexion, which is why we love it most. That and its delicious perfume! We're waiting for it to become a bit more affordable so we can include it in more products. At the moment we are just using it in our Facial Beauty Oils.

01.01.2022 NON IRRITATING SHAMPOOS, CLEANSERS & BODY WASHES From what our customers have told us, the products that seem to cause the most skin irritations in natural skincare are body washes and shampoos. A common reaction is itchy rashes, though dandruff can also result from using poor quality shampoos and conditioners. Cheap ingredients are the usual cause of irritation and surfactants and preservatives can be particularly toxic, which probably explains the number of complaints about... shampoos and body washes. Most natural surfactants need to be included in shampoos and body washes at up to 30 - 50% of the total product volume. But some are so harsh that only 1% is needed, and they still strip the skin! What we expect in a surfactant is a gentle but effective cleaner that leaves the skin (or hair) feeling soft and healthy, without stripping or irritating it. Ideally, a product should also be easy and pleasant to use and produce a good lather. The term 'natural' is used loosely by a lot of brands when promoting their products. We've tried dozens and dozens of 'natural' surfactants that sound promising but only found two that we think are good enough. Those two are apple and coconut derived and are quite different but work well together to create a product that has all of the characteristics we're looking for. The preservative we use in our surfactant based products is also exceptionally gentle and truly natural. It is derived from radish, and tests have shown it to be completely non irritating. That's unusual because most preservatives are quite nasty and work by killing cells which makes them naturally toxic to our body tissue as well. We consider our surfactant based products to be of exceptional quality compared to others on the market, largely because of the higher quality of our surfactants and preservative. If you've had trouble finding shampoos and body washes that don't irritate your skin or are looking for something new, we invite you to consider trying them. We also have purifying gel cleansers available in both our natural and organic ranges that contain these same ingredients, as well as an organic baby shampoo and body wash.
