20.01.2022 I had a great Sunday morning chatting to @team360performance about nutrition and how it impacts training and performance, i could of chatted all day! #Repost @team360performance --- Nutrition! Such a BIG factor when it comes to athletic performance. ... It was great to have Sally Hodgson from Naturo Nutrition talk to T360P athletes this morning on the importance of taking a holistic approach to what, how and when they eat. No generic ‘high fat, low carb’, ketogenic, paleo etc diet will work for every age and gender. Without a healthy body as the foundation, any swim / bike / run work will be compromised. Every athlete is unique, with so many variables that will influence their nutrition. Well worth investigating if you’re looking to get the most out of your training! #nutrition #youarewhatyoueat

19.01.2022 How does stress impact our period? Stress is a word that I hear far too often, and some people feel they are not doing ‘enough’ unless they are stressed out. But what is this really doing to you? This is just one of many reasons why stress management is so important. Pregnenolone is a hormone our body produces and has 2 pathways to choose from. As part of our reproduction hormone system, one path takes pregnenolone and converts it to our sex hormones such as estrogen and test...osterone. The other path takes pregnenolone and coverts it into cortisol which is activated during stress. If we are under high stress environments either physically or mentally, the cortisol pathway becomes priority as this is our survival flight or fight hormone. If stress continues for an extended amount of time, or on a regular basis, our sex hormones may become out of balance as your body continues to favour producing cortisol. This may result in irregular periods, an increase of PMS symptoms or even a loss of periods all together. Stress management can include breathing techniques, yoga, meditation, arts and crafts, walking, being in nature, reading, and of course good nutrition! it’s important to find what works for you! . #balancinghormones #hormonediet #adultballetcommunity #balletnutrition #dancerdiet #healthyhormones See more

10.01.2022 Playing to strengths Have you ever felt at certain times of the month that you are unable to perform to the high standard you have come to expect from yourself? Wondering why you are so much hungrier than last week but haven’t increased exercise or lowered your food intake? Blame it on your hormones, or better yet, thank your hormones because they are doing their job! The first 14 days of your cycle, the follicular phase (first day of your period up to ovulation) is a great t...ime for building on your strength as Estrogen is great for muscle repair and therefore you may see improvements quicker during this period. The second 14 days, the Luteal phase (from ovulation through to your next period) is a great time for working on endurance, and this is when you may experience an increase in hunger. This is partly due to Progesterone and its affect on raising the body temperature and therefore metabolic rate, meaning you burn through your energy fast, and therefore your need for more food is real so eat up! . #eatfood #healthydancer #balanceddiet #balancedhormones #dancerdiet #ballet #adultballet #eatforperformance #hormonediet #perthnutrtionist See more
