25.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 TO YOU ALL As the clock strikes 12pm and well wishes and reveling are heard throughout the land. Please keep the belief close to your heart that love, joy and good health are not just words but represent a state of mind and body we are all entitled to achieve.

23.01.2022 Our brains are just amazing! Whilst we sleep the brain gets rid of pathways no longer required and strengthens those we are constantly using. Such as repetitive exercise (karate) and learning a new language. The more you practice the stronger these pathways become. Unfortunately the same goes for negative thinking. The more negative thinking pathways the more these pathways are strengthened. Increasing joy and happiness for yourself might be as simple as introducing five positive thoughts for every single negative thought you may have. Overtime the brain will automatically strengthen your positive thought patterns. How good is that!

22.01.2022 Hi there. Nature has amazing curing powers. Did you know when you step barefooted onto grass or sand or any part of the earth in its natural form you are participating in grounding? You can lie on the ground also as long as you have direct skin contact with the ground you will connect with the earth’s surface electrons. This will naturally earth you. Many articles have been written about grounding also known as earthing and the conclusion presented is that it appears to be an essential part of health along with sunshine, water, diet, exercise and proper hygiene. Just by standing on the grass with bare-feet you are been earthed. I currently practice a kata known as Sanchin (breathing kata) in the backyard. The dew on the grass makes it easier for my feet to glide and afterwards I feel fabulous. Happy grounding.

17.01.2022 Feeling frustrated or a bit stressed? The following simple breathing exercise will aid in reducing these feelings. Simply find a comfortable chair and sit. Ensure your back is aligned with the back of the chair so you’re comfortable but not slouching. Either find a beautiful picture to admire or sit in the backyard and tune into the many sounds of nature or just look out the window. Or close your eyes and think of the last time you felt happy or shared a loving moment with so...meone special. Then begin breathing deeply by breathing in through your nose and then breathing out through your mouth. You can start with five deep breaths and build up to ten deep breaths. When you inhale try to reach to the count of four and when you exhale through the mouth try to reach the count of eight. The simple act of inhaling deeply through your nose will stimulate the release of nitric oxide from your para-nasal sinuses which are the deeper back sinuses. Nitric oxide has a calming effect on the brain. It will allow the brain to think everything is okay. Once you have finished your deep breathing stay seated for a minute as if you are not used to deep breathing you may feel slightly dizzy. See more

15.01.2022 Does love smell like lollies and hate smell like poo? In 2012 researches at Utrecht University in the Netherlands found that women's facial expressions and eye ...movements were indicative to the emotions of sweat taken from men. When they smelt sweat from men who had watched a fear-inducing movie their facial expressions were of fear. And when they smelt sweat from men watching a disgust-inducing movie their facial expressions were of disgust. See more

13.01.2022 Are you achieving the recommended daily dietary calcium intake? Recommended daily dietary intake will vary from 800mg to 1400mg a day and is dependent on your age, gender and if you are pregnant or lactating. Calcium is required for nerve transmission, regulation of cell division and helps to maintain your heartbeat. Low dietary calcium consumption will cause bones to demineralise which sadly contributes to osteoarthritis. Dairy products, calcium-enriched dairy alternatives, goats and sheep products are all sources of dietary calcium. As are raw almonds, spinach and sesame seeds.

12.01.2022 The benefits of exercising are touted everywhere on the net. It’s great for your heart, regenerates cells, exercises the lung, gives a glow to skin, the list is endless. One of the greatest benefits during this challenging time, is exercise improves mood. In practice I have heard the main reason for lack of exercise is finding the time. With time being in abundance for many, creates the time to go for a walk, or dust off that exercise bike that has been sitting in the garage. You mightn’t feel like doing anything after a binge of late-night TV. However, all it takes is walking out your front door or play some of your favourite music and dance. Get up and go you will love it!

10.01.2022 A cut avocado will stay fresh if pip is left in one side and the empty shell from the other side is place over the exposed flesh that has the pip and then place in a container with a cut onion. Place lid back on the container and keep in fridge. Will last much longer. This isnt in the video.

08.01.2022 Magnesium Around fifty percent of magnesium is stored within our bones and teeth and the rest is found in muscle, soft tissue, liver, pancreas, and body fluids. Magnesium plays an important role in assisting more than 300 enzymes involved in many chemical reactions in the body such as building proteins and strong bones. It regulates blood sugar, blood pressure, and muscle and nerve functions. It also helps to regulate vitamin D, reduce eye tics and cramping. Research conducte...d in menopausal women found that in some cases high doses up to 1500mg is required for effective pain management. There are many forms of this mineral available. Each form is absorbed differently. And each type of magnesium will contain different amounts of magnesium. It is not as simple and buying a tablet and everything will improve. For example, magnesium chloride contains twelve percent magnesium but has a higher absorption level than magnesium oxide which has sixty percent magnesium. Magnesium citrate may have a laxative effect and magnesium oxide is a stool softener. Before you rush out and buy a supplement perhaps consider focusing on your daily dietary magnesium intake. Some of the foods high in magnesium are pepitas, almonds, parsnip, leafy greens and cashews. See more

05.01.2022 Sodium, Sodium wherefore art thou Sodium Like Romeo sodium is found in the garden in the form of such vegetables as celery. But it’s when it is attached to chloride it becomes what we call table salt, also referred to as sodium chloride. And like Juliet our heart is very precious. The Australian Heart Foundation recommends the daily intake of salt (sodium chloride) is to be no more than 5grams a day. 5 grams equates to about one teaspoon of salt. Most assume when they look a...t the sodium content of food this means the same as salt content. This is not correct. For every 400mg of sodium this will equate to 1000mg (1g) of salt. A small can of tinned fish that has 700mg of sodium that would equate to 1.75grams of salt. Salt is comprised not just of sodium but also chloride. Perhaps it would be wise to look at you tinned fish and tinned beans or anything processed to see how much salt you are actually ingesting. Please dont allow your life to have an unnecessary early demise like Romeo and Juliet. Make healthy dietary choices as excessive salt intake is associated with disease states such as heart disease and kidney disease. See more
