12.01.2022 Out today, new position statements from the Heart Foundation on dairy, meat and eggs. I was a member of the Expert Reference Group that reviewed the evidence ov...er the last 5 years that helped inform these new recommendations and support them fully. Advice on reduced-fat dairy foods has been rescinded and it is now back to full-fat dairy foods (milk, yoghurt and cheese) unless someone has existing heart disease or high cholesterol. While also removing a limit on egg consumption (except for those with T2DM) has also happened. For red meat, it is up to 350 grams per week for unprocessed meats and for processed meats, it is to keep these limited and to opt for alternatives in their place such as legumes or seafood.
