22.01.2022 Natyanivedan celebrated Saraswathi Puja today differently to all other years. Although we were not able to have all the students and their parents at the same time it was divine to seek blessings of saraswathi maatha together. All students offered their learning to saraswathi maatha and sought her blessings to pursue further learning this year and in all the years to come. Our best wishes to all the new students of our school. Happy dancing.

20.01.2022 Important reminder for dance students. When you pay for your dance class, you think that you are paying for contact hours that you are spending with your teacher, you leave the class and go on with your life. What actually happens behind closed doors of the studio: 1) Your dance teacher is planning each class thinking about each student, their weaknesses and strengths, how to manage class with different levels, how to make it fun and still get p...rogress. 2) Researching, choosing music, choreographing dances. 3) Dealing with admin work like studio bookings, promotion, accounts, invoices, student reminders and even chasing late payments . 4) Attending workshops , lectures, talks to improve their own skills and to stay on trend. 5) Researching, performing and other exposure opportunities, writing applications, planning repertoire. 6) Staying behind after classes, unpaid rehearsals, designing costumes. 7) Getting dancers ready for performance, accompanying students for stage rehearsals, taking care of them before and after performance. 8)Organizing external workshops. 9) Providing emotional support and encouragement. 10) Answering hundreds of questions via texts and phone calls... And so so much more! Next time when you ask for discount or forget to pay on time or question why do I pay for that class that I didn’t attend (and forgot to notify!)... Remember all the heart and soul that we put into our classes . Most dance teachers are freelance. That means: No sick leave, no pension, no maternity leave, no stable income! Because we do what we love #danceteachers #indiandanceteacher #bharatanatyam #importantdancequestion #dancematters #freelancedancers

15.01.2022 Reflection on Natyanivedan's school holiday workshop.

15.01.2022 Bharathanatyam and temple architecture - The dynamism is conceptual, but also often illusionistic, almost cinematic. Just as the idea of the aedicule, the little god-house, is very concrete, human and graspable, so the dynamic structure of the relationships between the aedicules is, once seen, eminently human and best explained through bodily gestures in dance.

02.01.2022 It is quiet challenging yet joyful to turn home into stage for a virtual dance programme. Must say it was an eventful Sunday at Natyanivedan. Rehearsing, getting dressed together in the afternoon, helping each other with tips of make up and art of getting dressed for bharathanatyam and virtual performing for a global stage. Some snacks some photos some chit chats.......fantastic time with student friends
