20.02.2022 Drs’ Simon Elix and Ben Williams had the opportunity to work together at Darwin Private Hospital today using the latest robotic knee replacement technology. Many Territorians have benefited from these procedures already and Nautilus Orthopaedics is proud that our surgeons are pushing the envelope.

25.01.2022 Meet Dr Ben Williams: Dr Ben Williams is a Darwin based Orthopaedic Surgeon with interests in knee, hip and upper limb surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma and sports injuries. Dr Williams worked in both Royal Darwin Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital during his training and recognised the Territory as a fantastic place to live. He and his family are excited to be living and working in Darwin full time. He is an enthusiastic (but not overtly fast!) runner and is an instrum...ent rated aeroplane Pilot with a genuine passion for aviation. Dr Williams completed medical training at the University of Adelaide in 2004 and completed Orthopaedic Training in South Australia and the Northern territory from 2013 to 2017. He was drawn to Orthopaedic surgery after seeing many positive outcomes for patients and their family. Dr Williams was fortunate to be mentored in a wide range of orthopaedic procedures by internationally recognised surgeons and has worked in a number of major trauma centres. Dr Williams is trained in advanced techniques such as arthroscopic (‘key hole’) surgery and modern approaches to pain relief that improve post operative recovery. Dr Williams understands the importance of clear communication with patients and their family as well as other doctors and the allied health team. 25.01.2022 Meet Dr Simon Elix: Dr Simon Elix is the founder and Director of Nautilus Orthopaedics in his hometown of Darwin and expanded his practice nationally with the establishment of Nautilus Orthopaedics in Hervey Bay, Queensland in 2016. Dr Elix has a particular interest in Anatomic ACL reconstructions and multi ligament knee surgery. He is experienced in complex arthroscopic shoulder surgery including all arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He performs a large number of joint repl...acement surgeries in QLD and NT and focuses on the use of safe, modern bearing surfaces, including large volume ceramic hip replacements. Dr Elix has also introduced robotic assisted Orthopaedic surgery to Darwin and Hervey Bay. Dr Elix has a great love of the Northern Territory and its locals. 21.01.2022 Meet Dr Andrew Morris: Dr Andrew Morris is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with particular interest in reconstructive and arthritis surgery of the knee, as well as children’s orthopaedic surgery. Dr Morris completed his Orthopaedic training in 2015 working in all major metropolitan hospitals in Adelaide and the Royal Darwin Hospital. Andrew undertook a further 12 months subspecialty training in Southern England throughout 2015 developing his particular interests of Knee Surgery and C...hildren’s Surgery. Dr Morris has always believed in a patient focused and evidence based approach to his patients’ treatment. His experience in the United Kingdom has reinforced that belief. 17.01.2022 In light of the recent hotspot declarations and the new strains of COVID-19 we ask that anyone who has travelled to these hotspots i.e Greater Brisbane area within the last 2 weeks to reschedule their appointment. Please do not attend any scheduled appointments if you are feeling unwell (fever, chills, shortness of breath, cough, sore throat, loss of smell or taste); or have been recently exposed to anyone with flu like symptoms; or have visited, lived or worked at a location... with a recognised outbreak or is a recognised hotspot. We are happy to offer telehealth consultations for those wishing to remain isolated or in quarantine. To help ensure the safety and the health and well-being of our patients, staff and visitors, everyone will undergo temperature screening upon entry to Darwin Private Hospital and asked to sanitise their hands. 08.01.2022 Nautilus Orthopaedics are excited to welcome our first Plastic Hand Surgeon, Dr Paul van Minnen. We are now able to take on most hand trauma cases on an urgent basis. Dr van Minnen joins upper limb surgeon Dr James McLean as well as several of our other surgeons who have been well trained in treating traumatic and degenerative conditions of the hand. Welcome to the team, Paul!
