21.01.2022 A ship engine failed and no one could fix it, so they brought in a guy with 40 years experience. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom. After lo...oking things over, the guy reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine burst back into life. The engine was fixed! 7 Days later the owners got his bill for $10,000. "What?!" the owners said. "You hardly did anything. Send us an itemised bill." The reply simply said: Tapping with a hammer: $2 Knowing where to tap: $9,998 Dont ever underestimate experience.

19.01.2022 Customise form usage in AccountRight 2019.2 Hi Everyone We are aware that some clients after upgrading to AccountRight 2019.2 are not able to utilise their customise forms through the Setup>>Customise Forms window and for printing and emailing. ... This has been raised as a high priority issue with our product development teams to investigate and resolve at the earliest. In the meantime, a temporary workaround that has worked for most clients is to restart AccountRight and/or clear your cache file. More information on cache files: The cache files stores information to aid in the searching and finding of recent values. Thus I would be deleting that cache file and allowing AccountRight to recache that company file (which will happen automatically when you open the company file again). The cache file can be found in the following location: C:\Users\--username--\AppData\Local\MYOB\AccountRight\2019.2\Cache Please note that --username-- is the username that you are using to log into Windows with and AppData is a hidden folder so you would need to turn that preference on within Windows. The cache file name would be named "companyFileCache_
18.01.2022 Dont fall for these ATO scams while filing your tax return There are fresh warnings for people to be diligent when dealing with tax refunds following the re-emergence of scams hoping to trick unsuspecting victims. Since June, there has been an increase in scammers using WhatsApp to impersonate the ATO. Current reports indicate the scam is the latest twist to the fake tax debt scam where scammers issue a pre-recorded voice message to your phone demanding immediate payment o...f a tax debt and threatening immediate arrest, explained the ATO. An example of a text message sent to victims. (Supplied) In addition to requesting payment via unusual methods, the scammers may also ask call recipients to send a photo of their drivers licence, passport or other identity credential via WhatsApp. The ATO said it does not have a profile on WhatsApp and would never use the platform to contact anyone, urging people to never give out sensitive information unless the identity of the person or organisation can be independently verified. Another scam earlier reported by the ATO has also been reported again, with victims sent a text message asking them to click a link and provide personal information in order to receive a tax refund. To make the text appear real scammers use technology that makes their message appear in your legitimate ATO message feed, explained the ATO. Clicking the link will redirect the victim to a fake tax refund form, which has been designed to harvest personal information. The ATO does not have an online tax refund form and we will never send an email or SMS asking you to access online services via a hyperlink, ATO explained. Those who have received an ATO impersonation scam phone call or text message and have not paid or provided sensitive information to the scammer can report the scam online. For victims who think they have paid or provided sensitive information to a scammer, the ATO urges them to contact 1800 008 540. All online management of tax affairs should be carried out in ATO online services accessed via your genuine myGov account. Cyber security company Norton added people filing tax returns online should be mindful of the internet connection they use. One of the best ways you can protect yourself is to make sure your internet connection is secure and not a publicly available network. If you are not sure about the security of your internet connection use a VPN, it explained.
18.01.2022 SCAM ALERT Scammers have set up a clone of the myGov website to trick you into sharing your login and bank account details, Stay Smart Online says. Th...e scam starts with a phishing email that looks like it is from Medicare, asking you to update your Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) details, so you can start receiving payments for Medicare benefits and claims. If you click on the link in the email you are taken a replica of the real myGov website. Youll note the URL includes .net instead of .gov.au, which is an indication the website is not a legitimate Australian Government domain. If you input your login details you are directed to also enter your secret security question and answer, before youre taken to the fake Medicare website to input your bank account details. These emails and web pages feature myGov and Medicare design and branding, making them appear legitimate. Remember, clicking on the link and sharing your details gives these scammers access to your personal information, which they then use to steal your money and identity.

14.01.2022 19 or less employees? Report employee tax and super through Single Touch Payroll (STP). Get ready by 30 September.
14.01.2022 PAYG Payment Summaries for 2019 will be accessible within your myGov portal - We can set you up with your personal myGov account here at Nautilus Australian businesses who employ 19 or fewer employees will have until 1 July 2019 to get ready for mandatory Single Touch Payroll reporting. If you are an employee and your employer is registered for Single Touch Payroll (STP), your end of year PAYG Payment Summary (also known as a group certificate) will now be available online ...through your MyGov account. This means that you may no longer receive the printed copy of your PAYG Payment Summary from your employer. To access your PAYG Payment Summary, you will need to set up a myGov account, if you do not already have one. The information on your Payment Summary will be updated every time your employer pays you and completes their STP reporting for the pay period. You can view this any time throughout the financial year, however, it needs to be tax ready (finalised by your employer) before it can be used to fill out your tax return. If you use a registered tax agent to prepare your tax return, they will receive the information of your PAYG Payment Summary directly from the ATO. This has not changed. Nautilus Bookkeeping can assist you in setting up your myGov account Please note though - not all employers are set up and reporting through STP yet so you will continue to get a paper payment summary from your employer if they have not yet started STP reporting.

10.01.2022 Can you believe that the end of the financial year is just a few sleeps away? The ATO have advised that your PAYG, now called Income Statements will be accessible through your individual online myGov portal when your employer begins using the Single Touch Payroll (STP) to report your income to the ATO.
