24.01.2022 Lets talk about controversial topic...Aramandi or Ardhamandala position in Bharatanatyam . All dancers want to have perfect half sitting position! Some get it... naturally and without pain, some have to work hard for it, some keep pushing despite discomfort, some give up dance because of constant struggle, some are scared even to start learning Bharatanatyam because of this peculiarity of the dance style... The truth is - we are all different and our bodies are different! External hip rotation depends on many factors (including bone structure that you will probably not be able to change). We cannot skip aramandi position in Bharatanatyam, but we can make it safe and pain free and thus naturally improve through regular enjoyable practice. Following proper alignment and listening to your body. quality over quantity during practice preparing and strengthening your body through exercise. These are absolutely necessary steps for happy and healthy dance experience. We dont have to dance through pain to get better! Thank you @tineywong for perfect illustration #bharatanatyam #bharathanatyam #indiandance #aramandi #cosmicdancehk #dancepainfree #bharatanatyampainfree #healthyandhappydancers See more

22.01.2022 On the day of his passing, we offer our prayers for the aatma of DS Aiyyelu Sir. His contribution to Indian classical dance is immense and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to have created costumes with this master craftsman who is truly humble and at one with the art of designing classical dance costumes. Principles of abhinaya (the art of expression) are outlined in the Natyashastra, which also includes costuming. Aahaarya abhinaya is an important aspect of dance ...and its importance at times is overlooked. Aahaarya abhinaya refers to expressing through costume, ornaments, make-up and scene. Flaws in this area, does affect the dancers ability to justly express. DS Aiyyelu Sirs costumes are known to be aesthetically appealing and are skillfully made to suit various body shapes and sizes. Indian traditional art forms are multifaceted and it is important for students, emerging artists and art connoisseurs to be aware of experts in this field and their contribution to the arts. Below are some articles for further reading on master craftsman DS Aiyyelu sir. http://www.narthaki.com/info/intervw/intrvw1.html http://indiatoday.intoday.in//celebrity-danc/1/220938.html
