23.01.2022 The last quarter - in fact, the last year - here in Australia has been a challenging one for many of us: drought, bushfires, the global impact of the corona virus ... even deaths of loved ones. There are those we know who share a far greater burden as they care for and support family and friends who have experienced the same tragedies - even more severely - because they happen to live in a developing nation. As we, the worldwide Navigator family, dig deep and extend a help...ing hand to our brothers and sisters in these developing nations, who in turn continue to love, support and supply their community with what they have left ... would you prayerfully consider joining us in contributing to a fund that will help sustain those in greatest need through this difficult time? Please, click on the link below to find out more. https://navigators.org.au/give/pandemic-compassion-fund/

Start with a few of Dawson Trotmans biographies? ~ The Navigator... by Robert Foster Into a complacent generation God placed Dawson Trotman. Full of contagious zeal, drive, and creativity, Trotman helped awaken those around him and exhorted Christians to single-mindedly obey God. Thousands responded to his challenge of fruitful discipleship. Now his challenge goes to you. The Navigator will motivate you to joyfully obey God more. It will invite you to share in Trotmans bifocal vision: a consuming passion for the salvation of the world and also for the spiritual nurturing of one individual. He once said, If you care for one, God can give you a burden for the world. Through the worldwide Christian organization he founded, The Navigators, Trotman helped bring back some forgotten biblical truths: the importance of personal follow-up, one-on-one training, Daws A Man Who Trusted God by Betty Skinner Dawson Trotman revolutionized the practice of evangelism and founded The Navigators, one of the most widespread and respected Christian organizations in the world today. This moving historical account, drawn from the memories of those whose lives Dawson touched and from the authors firsthand knowledge, will both encourage you in your faith and inspire you to action. Dawson Trotman In His Own Words by The Navigators As Dawson Trotman came to understand what role he was to play in Gods kingdom, he got down to business doing what he was gifted in: developing effective processes for teaching people how to read, study, and memorize Scripture. Out of his passion came a new approach to discipleship and with it a ministry organization called The Navigators. Dawson Trotman: In His Own Words contains excerpts from his personal journals, private correspondence, original sermons, and Faithful Men, the unfinished manuscript he had intended to be his major work on discipleship. The book also contains 52 devotions built around his writings and Scripture plus images, illustrations, essays, and articles created by Daws so you can see firsthand how he would have presented them. ~ What about something different? ~ Living the Resurrection by Eugene H. 23.01.2022 ~ PROGRESS UPDATE on the Pandemic Compassion Fund from our National Director ~ We recently wrote to you about the Pandemic Compassion Fund created by the International Office of Navigators in response to the devastating impacts COVID-19 is having throughout many developing countries. The Navigators International Office recently shared on the progress of the Pandemic Compassion Fund. Up until 30 June the fund had already assisted 313 families, numerous churches where Navigato...rs have discipleship ministries, and many rural villages where food has been scarce. Thank you for all of you who have already partnered with us and the Worldwide Partnership of Navigators in being part of Gods means of relief for parts of His Body that are truly suffering. As Paul says, we should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it (1 Corinthians 12:25-26). For any who would still like to give you may do so on our website navigators.org.au/give/pandemic-compassion-fund/ (click on the link below). Pray. Please continue to pray for Gods protection over all of our extended family. May God be glorified in all the nations as the world sees His Body standing and bearing together through these hardships. Labouring together, Grant Dibden

22.01.2022 Despite events that have caused us to stop or slow down in 2020, we are undoubtedly "still busy". This week, some of the National Staff of the Australian Navigators are taking time out for a much-needed retreat. While we spend most of our time alone with God and diving into His Word, we also get the pleasure of fellowshipping and eating meals together.... If you are able to, why not try a min-retreat for yourself. Maybe an early jog or walk, some time out in the local park. Or just sit and watch the sunrise or sunset, meditating on God's Word and His creation. If you'd like, you could even be reading Philippians and 1 Peter as we are. What is God going to whisper into your heart -- or blast you into action -- with, this week?

22.01.2022 Before we can recognise Gods will, our minds need to be transformed? Why do you think that is the case? Read today: Romans 11:32-12:2 and memorise Romans 12:2. Think about some of the pressures that we may have from the world around us. How can todays memory verse (and 1 John 2:15-16) help you?

21.01.2022 What is todays western culture like? How does it influence our daily lives? In this short perspective piece, Kristin shows us that we still need community and encourages us to continue to "come together". You can read it now by clicking on the link below.... https://navigators.org.au/cultural-shifts/ See more

21.01.2022 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given methe task of testifying to the good news of Gods grace. Acts 20: 24 Is our goal to be consistent and to persevere in our lifelong labouring for the name of Christ? Paul was an ambassador of Jesus Christ and from this identity came these striking words from Acts 20:24 to the elders of the Ephesian community who had come to meet him in Miletus. ...In this declaration of Pauls goal in life we see some of the steel fibers that give longevity to the service of a labourer of Jesus Christ. 21.01.2022 Psalm 119:9-16 (NIV) 9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.... 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Some questions to ponder: In regard to sin, does this passage relate more to correction or prevention? Are you living according to Gods Word? (From: Topical Memory System)

21.01.2022 Have you heard about the Link in the Chain? Its a simple and interesting story, with a theme that cant be any clearer and a message that ought to challenge us all as followers of Christ. If youre not familiar with the Link in the Chain story, here it is now - you can either listen to Jack Griffin (one of the people who helped establish Navigators in Australia) tell it in his own words; or read a transcribed version. If youve heard it before, this is a great time to re...call its message. Are you a ... Link in the Chain? https://navigators.org.au/link-in-the-chain/

21.01.2022 As Christs disciples, we are to serve others. In what ways did Jesus serve people? What are some specific ways we can follow Jesus example?... On a personal level, think about the ways you are already serving. Are there other areas of ministry you have been thinking and praying about? Do you have to be in a specific ministry to be serving Christ?

21.01.2022 ~ Meeting Needs at a Distance ~ Our God is a generous God who has poured his blessings on us; we can trust Him even in these hard times. Most importantly, we can trust Him with the blessing of eternal life. We want to continue to share this great news with others also. This particularly trying season has only made it more evident that the harvest is ripe as people seek for meaning. And so the labouring continues, even as we find new ways to meet peoples physical, emotional a...nd spiritual needs at an appropriate distance. In 2 Corinthians 9:11 Paul gives this encouragement to those who gave generously: You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. We pray that this may also be true of you who give so generously to Gods work through Navigators.

19.01.2022 The 2020 Winter edition of Compass and the July-August Daily Prayer Guide are coming your way very soon. If you dont get these in the post and would like to receive them, call us on (02) 8814 5006 or email [email protected] with your name, phone number and home address so we can add you to our mailing list! Here is a note from our National Director, Grant: Dear Friend,... The US Navigators have five qualities of labourers that are helpful for us to consider: Walking with God. Navigator labourers know, love, and are becoming like Jesus. They know how to be nourished through the Word, prayer, and the promises of God. Living Among the Lost. Navigator labourers are competently and fruitfully advancing the Gospel. They embrace people right where they are. Knowing and Living from the Scriptures. Navigator labourers open, know, and apply the Word of God as truth and find it sufficient for all of life. Reproducing Spiritual Generations. Navigator labourers intention, mindset, and lifestyle help people help others right where they arelife-to-lifeTo Know Christ and to Make Him Known. Engaging in Community. Navigator labourers love people deeply, help people flourish, and have relational intelligence. They cultivate communities that are missionally engaged and serving in the Body. In this [coming] edition of Compass, you will see those qualities on display as you read the various stories. Those qualities are a great check list to reflect on and to ask God: Where do I need to be growing as I seek to labour in the harvest field where you have placed me? Together let us go wherever He leads and do whatever He asks. Lead On!

18.01.2022 ~ Some tips for Scripture Memory ~ Are you finding it hard to memorise Scriptures? And if youre doing this TMS (Topical Memory System) journey with us, are you finding yourself falling behind? Dont stress. Ask God for help. Keep going. Keep memorising new verses as usual, and go back to the ones you may have missed - determining to put extra effort to learning them.... Here are 2 keys for Scripture Memory: 1. Consistently memorise new verses each week. 2. Follow a regular, daily program of reviewing the verses you have already memorised. (TMS Course Workbook.)

18.01.2022 By Frank and Tim Mapperson, first published in Compass, Summer 2020 https://navigators.org.au/the-need-of-the-hour/ As Navigators, we stand for life-on-life discipleship, living among the lost, leading all closer to Jesus and a Jesus-centred lifestyle. COVID-19 has made this both harder and more fruitful. Light shines brightest in darkness.... People are seeking hope (not empty promises), wise leadership, genuine care, belonging. In love we reach out to neighbours with letters, homemade food, and band neighbours together. This has proved powerful for building new relationships where pretensions are stripped away, with opportunities to reflect God’s attributes. In existing relationships, Christ-centred conversations are sprouting. With patience and intentionality, the ground is fertile. The need of the hour is to be creatively counter-cultural, penetrating our world next door with love and hope. In a formal ministry context, we use home-made videos, topical Bible studies, and regular sharing of Scriptures, prayer, and music in virtual communities. We urge people to press into natural networks, finding opportunities to serve, proclaim Christ, and help the emotionally vulnerable and those falling prey to sexual impurity. We need not be timid, but pray and labour, from love, with intentionality and perseverance.

18.01.2022 ~ Solid Rock Retreat 2020 ~ Well, covid-19 could not stop our determined Defence Force women from holding the Solid Rock Retreat this year! Usually hosted over a weekend in May at Stanwell Tops, the event was a day-long get-together in June instead, with maximum numbers in the Canberra hub (they were allowed 14 in the space) while including other remote sites via Zoom! (Nobody gets left out!) Prayers were answered as some distancing restrictions were lifted, 27 ladies were ab...le to connect with one another virtually and in person, and guest presenter Dave McDonald was able to speak the Word to them from way up Port Macquarie (NSW) via technology. In addition, they were blessed with a surprise visit from their patron, Mrs Linda Hurley! This was 7 hours of encouragement, fun, growth, laughter, fellowship and, of course, great food - preceded by meticulous planning and fervent prayers (yours included). If youd like to find out more about this ministry, dont hesitate to contact us ([email protected]) or visit the Solid Rock Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/solidrockdefence/

16.01.2022 This year has been particularly wearisome for many of us. But one of the things the Scriptures reminds us to keep up is doing good. Not that our salvation is based on our good works ... but so that we can imitate Christ, serve others and put our love for God and people in action. If you'd like, read Galatians 6:1-10, whether you are doing the TMS with us or not. Spend some time meditating on the Word and answer these questions: - Who decides when will be the proper time to ...see the results of our doing good? - Who should benefit from our good works? Be blessed today as you sit and meditate on Gods Word, commit verses to memory and remember His great love for you.... Which of these resources will you be most leaning on today?

15.01.2022 How's your new year going? Are you one of those who like to make resolutions? Or have a "word" for the year? 15.01.2022 What does it mean to the Navigators to "reproduce"? In the same way, what is a generation? In this recent article shared with us by Ram Marrero, he discusses an example of how he has seen the fruits of his ministry, simply allowing the Holy Spirit to work in him the Great Commission given to us by Jesus. Are you the fruit of someones ministry? Perhaps youve seen a new generation birthed out of your faithful desire to share the Gospel! Let us know, wed love to hear from yo...u! https://navigators.org.au/dynamic-of-reproduction/

15.01.2022 You may recognise the name Harvey Soderholm. This man of God, lifelong labourer, ministry alongsider, discipler and faithful servant who joined the Navigators in the 1950s saw many generations come to Jesus before he passed away last year. Some people, he directly led to Christ; for others, he was a link in the chain. Join us as we remember Harvey Soderholm in this first compilation of memories and photographs. https://navigators.org.au/harvey-soderholm/

14.01.2022 If youve never had the opportunity to hear Grants interview on Vision Radio a number of years ago, here it is for you now. His message is still very much relevant today, as it was then, and even more urgent when we see all that is happening around us. May we continue to work deeply with people, life on life, with a vision for spiritual generations, intentionally passing on what we have been taught. https://vimeo.com/92588483... #vision #worldvision #generation #spiritualgenerations #navigators #australiannavigators #navigatorsaustralia #aussienavs #disciples #ordinarypeople #lifeonlife

14.01.2022 Lets continue with the topic of SERVING ... What do you think preaching Jesus Christ as Lord includes? What does it mean to serve someone for Jesus sake?... Is there an opportunity for you to serve someone today?

13.01.2022 If youve been following along with us on our journey to memorise key verses this year, here is the list of the next six verses we will be looking to commit to head and heart over the next couple of weeks. Feel free to download and print for your own reference or to pass on to others. There is space for you to write down the verses as we go along. Source: TMS, Series D - Be Christs Disciple.

13.01.2022 In reading Luke 9:18-27, what would you say is the greatest hindrance to our following Christ? Has the current situation affected your decisions? The passage reflects the freedom of choice which the Lord gives us in deciding whether we want to follow him. How does it reflect that freedom?

13.01.2022 Remain STEADFAST ... After reading Hebrews 12:1-13, think about these questions: - What opposition did Jesus endure from sinful men?... - What ought to be our response to suffering as we think about Christ? - How should we view the hostility we experience when we strive against sin? 12.01.2022 It is truly amazing to see all the ways God has provided and we are so encouraged and uplifted by the opportunity for our wide-spread community to come together for the Pandemic Compassion Fund. Praise God! These are just some of the examples of how your giving has assisted others so far: - funds distributed to over 367 families on 4 continents in 21 countries... - 2 hospitals, 1 salvation army church, 2 focus villages - Restarting 14 small businesses that were shut down due to government mandated closures because of COVID-19. 12.01.2022 Wisdom bestows well-being, so Proverbs 3:1-12 tells us; a particularly relevant passage given all that is happening in our lives at the moment. Lets focus specifically on giving today, something that we may not all find "easy" at the moment; what with loss of income, decreased shifts at work, increased health care costs... Still, how is God honoured when we give him the first part of our material possessions?... What does this tell us about Gods control over our lives? Are you struggling with this today? 11.01.2022 As Navigators we are passionate about making disciples, and we know that as our partners you are too. We want to be and make disciples who will labour for a lifetime, not just a season. But we cant do this by ourselves. So, we thank you. Thank you for continuing to partner with us both prayerfully and financially to equip and encourage our staff so they remain spiritually fresh as they labour. We are awed and humbled by the faithfulness of all our supporters despite all tha...t has happened so far this year. Thank you for loving and serving our labourers through your continued giving! 11.01.2022 For most of Australia, our schools will be entering the winter break under some restrictions for a second time due to the global pandemic. This will look quite different in each household as we learn to navigate through the challenges and opportunities brought by the situation. Will your home look cool, calm and collected? Or will there be a bit of organised chaos? Perhaps there arent any children in the house and its business as usual. Whatever you may be looking forward to in the next couple of weeks, why not take time to read this short piece and see if you can make some room in your diary for an Appointment with God.

11.01.2022 Are you: a) a generous giver? b) a cheerful giver? c) a reluctant giver?... You dont have to answer that publicly! Its simply a question for you to privately ponder. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-15, our generosity is encouraged. Not once are we called to give what we dont have; in fact, it is God who supplies us so that we are able to give. Why is it important that we give not under compulsion or reluctantly? 10.01.2022 Hows your Scripture memory? What particular verses are your go-to? Do you have a system? Or do you memorise verses that particularly have stood out to you? "...imprinting Gods word on your heart [means] ... the Scriptures will be continually available for life-giving work." AND ... "... memorising and meditating on the Scriptures is a practical way of making them available to the Holy Spirit to use in your life." But if its beginning to feel like your memorisation is becoming too routine, you may like to try to incorporate the verses: 1) into your prayer life and in your meditations; and/or 2) use them in your letters and conversations. ~ The TMS Course Workbook ~ Share with us how the Scriptures have helped you in a time of need. Or in someone elses time of need. Have you incorporated verses in your communications with others lately? Or in your prayers? Perhaps youve used a Psalm as a prayer to express your praise or pleas.

10.01.2022 How do we best care for ourselves while caring for others? This is a particularly relevant question given our Covid-19 lock-down situation, both for us and those we are serving. 06.01.2022 Today, read 1 John 2:12-17 and please PRAY for the things that are going on: the health crisis, the different social movements taking up a lot of emotional space, the wars among nations and the battles within our homes. "God so loved the world..." (John 3:16). And yet our memory verse (1 John 2:15-16) today tells us NOT to love it. How then would you define the word "world" in each context?
