23.01.2022 This year's cheque was presented to Dr Geoffrey McCowage

23.01.2022 10th of November please save the Date, for 3rd annual charity night.

21.01.2022 Kaizrin's Introduction Speech - NMF Gala Night Welcome to the 2nd annual Navzad memorial Foundation Gala night. A big thank you to Navzad’s school, Knox Grammar, and to the school’s Scottish band for coming out and supporting and entertaining us tonight. Firstly I’d like to begin tonight by thanking you all for coming out tonight and supporting us in our 2nd year. As many of you know the NMF is dedicated to growing awareness for brain cancer, as well as the need to find a c...ure. This all began with my brother Navzad, and his personal fight with brain cancer. This foundation is set up in his name with his legacy in mind that if we can save one life, we are making a difference. Brain cancer doesn’t however affect a few, it affects many. On average, approximately 1600 brain cancers are diagnosed each year in Australia; that is roughly one person diagnosed with brain cancer every five hours. The survival for brain cancer has hardly changed for 30 years. Only two in ten people diagnosed with brain cancer will survive for at least five years. Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease. It also kills more people under 40 in Australia than any other cancer. Approx. 1200 people die each year from brain cancer, which is about one every 7 hours Brain cancer receives less than 5% of federal government cancer research funding. So we ask you tonight to be generous, Eptfos is available throughout the night, and the funds raised here will be going towards helping the children’s hospital at Westmead and their biomede trial, headed by Dr. Geoffrey McCowage. This is an international clinical trial that is developing new ways to treat a type of brain tumour. (If you would like more information on this trial there is a detailed pamphlet on your table,) so please have a read of that. We have an exciting evening planned; there will be lots of entertainment, yummy food and fun. We have raffle prizes, silent auctions, and a very exciting giveaway. Also later on in the evening from 7:30pm there will be a cartoonist; located at the back of the room near the bar area, so please grab a friend and get your picture drawn. There will also be some professional photographers near the NMF banners, to take a snap shot of what is sure to be a very memorable evening. I know most of you would have registered for the silent auction, however, if you have not, you can find the instructions on how to do so on your table. The silent auction will be open all night until 9:30pm. So take a good look at the prizes, and buy yourself, your family, your spouse a wonderful Christmas gift, or a much needed midyear getaway. Before you jump to it, please enjoy this short video of our journey so far. This video was kindly produced by DigiGround, so a very big thank you to Patricia and the DigiGround team.
