25.01.2022 GROUP B Parents Don't forget the Xmas festvities on the VERY LAST DAY of Kindy next Thursday. Hope to see you all there. ... I am sure it will be happy, and sad ;-) ;-(

24.01.2022 By now you will have all seen the devastatingly sad news regarding the forthcoming permanent closure of the Kindy. Letters for each family were placed in the pockets. You can view the church's "Generally Inappropriate" development application submissions on the BCC website. You can obviously also feel free to express your displeasure by making a negative submission regarding their proposal. Application number: A003707719... http://pdonline.brisbane.qld.gov.au//applica/default.aspx I encourage each of you to do what you personally think is right. Cheers, Craig Peters President

23.01.2022 An Open Letter from Neal Bunkum, parent and Committee Member. Says it all really, and says it really well: THANK YOU Back in May 2009, Kylie told me that a Kindy place had come up for Tasman at Nazareth C&K Kindy, and could I drop his enrolment forms into the Kindy during the day. Despite my knowledge of the area, and having lived around the corner in Abingdon St for a year, I was not quite sure where I was going, and in fact went in next door to the hand the forms in. Fortun...ately, they pointed me in the right the direction. Little did I know what we had stumbled on? The Torch Nights, the Christmas concerts, the Mothers Days, Fathers Days, Market Days, Art Shows, and Working Bees arrived soon after. Wonderful teachers who have given their best for our kids, and made Kindy such a wonderful experience that not once did my children say they did not want to go, and would have gone everyday if they could have. That finished for us yesterday with Albertines last day, and before I forget as we go through the process of winding things up, I would like to say some thank yous from my family and I. Firstly, a big thank you to the teachers: Christine, Katrina, Carol, Clara, Anne, Shelley, Cavel, Rose, and others. Secondly, a big think you to all you volunteers behind the scene who make the Kindy run. Without you there would not have been the Kindy for my kids to attend, and my family to be a part of. The realisation that being part of the Kindy community is now practically at an end has hit me today. Thirdly, the administration staff: Heather, and Teresa who have been a big help taking part of the load off the Committees shoulders over the years. Lastly, I would like to give a big thank you for all of your efforts over the last two years in the fight to ensure that the Kindy lived on so that others could experience what we have experienced in our time at this wonderful place. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in that fight not because we did not give it everything we had, but because of circumstances that were beyond our control. Best Wishes to you all and your families in your future endeavours. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Neal, Kylie, Tasman, Archie, and Albertine. Neal Bunkum

23.01.2022 GROUP A Parents - Remember the Xmas party festivities next Monday morning. Hope to see you all there. LAST week ;-(

21.01.2022 Amazingly, surprisingly gentle with the baby chicks. No animals were harmed in the making of this post ;-)

20.01.2022 Small article re kindy closure on page 5 :-( http://quest.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx

20.01.2022 The signage is up. You have until 12/12 ti lodge your objections via the BCC website.

19.01.2022 I'd like to start using this Facebook page as a communications tool for the Kindy famililes a lot more to keep people up to speed with how we are traveling regarding the move. If you are Friends with someone who has not Liked the page can you forward them a suggestion to do so please? Hopefully we can get everyone on board and make sure we are all informed and part of the community.

19.01.2022 A ball was had by all. In fact many balls. Thanks SO much to all of the volunteers who made it happen. Thanks just the same large amount to Christine and Katrina. There was certainly a lot of laughing and activity, lots of smiles on faces. ... AND we even narrowly avoided giving the kids an extra treat by inadvertently bringing a fire truck in ;-) Food was great though. The flames must have seared the plate clean.

18.01.2022 Torch Night was a brilliant success! Thanks so much to the team, led by Tracie Deans, who made it happen. Thanks to everyone who contributed with soups, cooking sausages, setting up, breaking down, etc. Brilliant work everyone.... The kids all had a ball too and they loved the storyteller. He was certainly enthusiastic and animated ;-)

18.01.2022 Getting some last shots of the playground being used as it should - I.e. for kids to play in - NOT as a car park. Feeling nostalgic. Can't help but here Cat Stevens playing on loop in my head. Remember the days of the old schoolyard We used to laugh a lot, oh don't you... Remember the days of the old schoolyard When we had imaginings and we had All kinds of things and we laughed And needed love... yes, I do Oh and I remember you Remember the days of the old schoolyard We used to cry a lot, oh don't you Remember the days of the old schoolyard When we had simplicity and we had Warm toast for tea and we laughed And needed love.. yes, I do Oh and I remember you .... See more

16.01.2022 RELOCATION STATUS UPDATE We are still alive at this point and still planning to continue operations for the 2014 year. We are VIGOROUSLY pursuing an option with QR to lease the vacant block of land in Merton St by the footbridge across to the primary school. A Tenancy Application Form will be submitted with all necessary details tomorrow and we will push ahead with this option with all of our efforts.... We met with St Seraphims Church this morning. This option is still a possibility, but may be cost restrictive. The colocation with Dutton Park State School is still a possibility, but the lead times will likely be too long. Keep your fingers crossed guys, and if there is anything you can do to help just let us know. Cheers, Craig Peters Kindy President

16.01.2022 Milking the cow. Some got a shot of fresh milk too - straight from the udder.

16.01.2022 Happy Birthday Elysha. Well done Lea.

15.01.2022 I think they must have been starvin' them thar critters.

14.01.2022 Greedy as a ...

13.01.2022 Some of the cool Xmas stuff happening at the Kindy.

13.01.2022 Just because I thought it was cool and pertinent. I have this one on my PC desktop at the moment to provide a constant reminder. It is on the fridge door too ;-) I thought we could all use a reminder of this right about now.... Cheers, Craig

12.01.2022 Closing Down Garage Sale

12.01.2022 EBAY EBAY EBAY EBAY EBAY EBAY EBAY EBAY Facebook Peeps - Many of the remaining items of a larger nature are now listed on EBAY for sale. We are hoping to sell them all by auction close this Thursday.... They are listed under the Seller Name "CalvinFlinthart". Get into EBAY and search for that name and all of the current listings should come up. Even better use this link: http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/calvinflinthart Share it with your friends and family and ask them to do the same. Thanks and good luck. Cheers, Craig

10.01.2022 You MAY have noticed that there is STILL no signage from the church advertising their proposed redevelopment of the site. This signage is an absolute requirement of their development application and SHOULD have been up within 20 business days of their application being made. Local Councillor Helen Abrahams advised me that no objections or submissions are counted as official until the signage in site goes up. ... I contacted Helen via email as President, on behalf of the Committee, today to raise her awareness of this issue and request a response as to the ramifications to the development of them not having met this most BASIC of requirements on time. I have not heard back from Helen yet, but will share the information with you all when I do. I would encourage each of you personally to contact Helen on this topic as well. It grates on me massively to have the Church point blank refuse a reasonable extension of time that would have saved the Kindy, based on their belief that they would quickly obtain their development approvals AND for them to then not even follow the most basic requirement steps in a timely manner. We have made our decision and we are all in the process of moving on. This does not negate the REASONS for this decision being made being based upon what would appear to be completely false premises put forward by the church. Do what you think appropriate personally. Keep an eye out for a letter from the Committee with some important news soon. Cheers, Craig Peters President

10.01.2022 Feeding of the lambs. Like Silence of the Lambs only far more intense ;-)

09.01.2022 Feeling extremely sad as everything starts making its way out the door. Emotional day. At least its all going to continue to do good for kids at other kindies.

09.01.2022 Hope everyone is happy, healthy, and hearty at the start of a new week. I have pasted the recipe for my Torch Night soup below for those who may be interested. If others want to share their recipes as well send them through to my email and I will post them up for all to enjoy.... I'd love to get my hands on that Cauliflower one ;-). 09.01.2022 Thank you all for coming to the garage sale and help us clean up!

08.01.2022 NAME CHANGE IDEAS? Once we move away from the church we will change the name of the Kindy. It would be good to get some thoughts on a new moniker. Post your suggestions and comments here. I'll start with one of mine:... KINDY 4102

07.01.2022 You think I'M sad. Check out Sarah.

05.01.2022 I understand not everyone likes to have photos of their kids posted on Facebook. Fair enough. If anyone's child is in any of the below photos, and they would prefer that they weren't, just let me know (or the teachers at Kindy) and I will ensure that they are removed. You will note that no names have been attached to any of the photos and that there are no "Tags". ... No offense intended. Just trying to show happy kids having fun, exploring new things, learning and developing as part our fabulous kindy. At the same time trying to build our presence and keep stakeholders informed and involved. Cheers, Craig Peters Kindy President 0407 142 556

05.01.2022 Just arrived at the farm. Let the farmtivities commence.

04.01.2022 These 2 are on the fridge as well. They seemed particularly relevant to where we as a Kindy stand right now. Keep the faith peeps ;-)

04.01.2022 Soup makers - post your recipes up here - or better yet send them to me via [email protected] and I will edit and post them. I want to get more content on here to give more people a reason to come to the page, so that we can use it as a communications tool more effectively. Make sure friends, family, and other parents get on and Like the page too.

03.01.2022 All, The church has FINALLY submitted their plans and application to council. http://pdonline.brisbane.qld.gov.au//applica/default.aspx... Get in and have a look for yourself. This is what they are kicking the Kindy out of our current home for, so it is worth understanding what they are doing. Feel free to submit your objections to their plans as well. I certainly would not stop anyone from objecting to their plans via the correct processes.

01.01.2022 RELOCATION STATUS UPDATE Despite the best efforts of a number of our community, including a letter of support from our local Councillor Helen Abrahams, we have been unable to convince the Nazareth Church of the merits of providing us with an extension of time. The church held their AGM on Sunday and vehemently followed through on their request for the Kindy to vacate the premises by 31 December this year. They did not entertain any further extensions of time despite what wou...ld appear to be an incredibly optimistic timeframe for them to commence redevelopment works. Feel free to express your disappointment and/or displeasure with them in your own way. I am still very optimistic that we will be able to achieve a positive result in relocating the Kindy, and that we will have our doors open for the first day in 2014. The QR Merton Rd site is our targeted option and we are working very hard to realise this vision. It will be a LOT of work to get there, BUT I genuinely and sincerely believe that it is still achievable. We will keep you informed as we go. If we call upon you to assist please respond enthusiastically. Cheers, Craig Peters Kindy President
