25.01.2022 Exploring and creating with recycled materials is a big part of our programs at Naz. Recycled materials represent an abundant, sustainable and affordable resource for young childrens creative expression!! The picture below is a Doll bed created out of recycled boxes, felt pieces, paper plates and cardboard. This was created by Alexa who is 5 years old. PS note the great writing on the red piece of paper

24.01.2022 Over the past few months we have kept our community connections with our local library via zoom sessions!! The children have loved listening to the stories and songs created and chosen by the local library. Today the children listened to the story Room on a Broom after engaging in the acknowledgement of country. The children loved the rhyme and repetition in the story as well as the additional puppet props. Afterwards the children were encouraged to recount the story plot using a felt board and then sang to the tune of 10 in the bed using the characters from the story! Thank you to Michelle at Annerley library for a wonderful literacy session this morning!!!

23.01.2022 A BIG thank you to Bao from Be Well Dental (and mum to Willow and Bodhi) for coming in to speak to the Kindy and some Toddler children about how to keep their teeth healthy!! Bao used a variety of mediums such as storytelling, group conversations and drawings to communicate this very important message to the children. The children were then given a special bamboo toothbrush to take home to practice brushing their teeth with! (NQF - Element 2.1.2 Health practices and procedures - Healthy practices are promoted and appropriate for each child).

15.01.2022 This morning the Nazareth children were busy painting a Freshwater Eel for our foyer as part of NAIDOC week. The Turrbal and Jagera peoples are the traditional owners of the land on which Nazareth is located. The Turrbal totem is the freshwater Eel, the story of eels symbolically represents the Indigenous sense of belonging to their country. We want to acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera peoples connection to the land on we which we are located and hope this culture can continue to thrive

14.01.2022 Hi Although our usual celebrations of Holy Week and Easter have been a distant thought for us and many of our families, at Nazareth we were determined to make it a priority this week to be able to focus on engaging children on learning about Holy Week and the celebration of Easter. Throughout this week we have created a Holy Week diorama, made Easter baskets and went on a small Easter egg hunt, prayed for everyone during this challenging period during our devotion times and added to our Easter tree each day. Tomorrow we will be wearing the colour purple, this is the colour of lent and represents a time of penitence and prayer. Lord Jesus, we pray that our families stay safe and strong during these challenging times and may we all be blessed in your name. Amen. Happy Easter to all our Naz family and friends

13.01.2022 Today at Nazareth we got to celebrate our beautiful, cheeky and little ray of sunshine Lily’s last day Lily has decided to move interstate to be closer to her family. We wish Lily all the best with her next chapter after Naz

13.01.2022 This morning the Kindy children made this beautiful space their leaf house. The children discussed where the bedroom, kitchen and lounge room were. Through play in these varied and less structured outdoor spaces, children encounter diverse opportunities for decision making that stimulate problem solving and creativity. These types of activities promote executive functioning, required for lifelong success, and may lead to increased future performance, concentration, and other markers of cognitive functioning.

13.01.2022 What a beautiful day to celebrate our Eco Explorers first workshop back with Linda! The Kindy children were very excited to create beautiful gardens in our empty garden beds at the entrance. The children first learnt what butterflys eat (sip nectar from the flowers), how they flowers differently than we do and we learnt about the flowers we were going to plant for the It was nice to get our hands dirty as we carefully created a hole in the soil and planted each seedlin...g. What an array we have, some of the flowers we planted today included Marigold, Sunflower, purple basil, coriander, Cosmos and Queen Anne Lace!! The children will take care to water and look after the gardens so the flowers can grow, and hopefully to attract the Please encourage your child to but dont touch the new plants as they begin to grow! 05.01.2022 What a beautiful day to garden!! This morning the Toddler children helped us to prepare the garden beds for next weeks Eco Explorers Butterfly Garden session The Toddler children loved squishing the mud through their toes!! Providing opportunities for children to engage with natural environments and materials is a major part of our Naz philosophy. Supporting children to become responsible environmental citizens early is critical to children continuing this into adulthood (EYLF - Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world)

05.01.2022 This morning the Toddlers and Nursery children joined the Kindy children for our special Nazareth Anzac service! We first skyped the Nursing home then began our service. Rosie lit three candles for our services who defend our country in the land, sea and sky (Army, Airforce and Navy). We then listened to a special prayer whilst holding our hands together in front of our hearts. Together we then put one hand over our heart and recited "The Ode". This was followed by listening ...to The Last Post, observing one minute silence and then to finish we listened to the Reveille. We also enjoyed some yummy Anzac biscuits for afternoon tea!! Lest we Forget!! EYLF Learning Outcomes: Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect; and Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.

02.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE | As per the recommendations from the Prime Minister of Australia this afternoon, Queensland Lutheran Early Childhood Services will be open tomo...rrow. QLECS has been working with the LCAQD and LEQ, as well as the Department (ECEC). We will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow all recommendations from Queensland Health and the ECEC. There is a great deal of heightened emotions in the community. The best thing we can do for our children, staff, families and ourselves, is to ensure programs run as normally as possible and that we remain vigilant with hygiene practices. See more
