20.01.2022 The 16 member group of NOW 2019 arrived today at President Nicolau Lobato airport inDili. Welcome everyone!!!!

18.01.2022 Why do people choose to go to travel somewhere like Bathurst Island for outreach work? What does "outreach" even look like or mean? What is it that makes them a changed person on their return, one who views life through a different lens? Hear the inspiring stories of the Nazareth Catholic Community members who have just undertaken this special journey Listen to the #SchoolLife podcast by Catholic Office for Youth and Young Adults available on Spotify https://spo...ti.fi/2Dnzb31 PLUS read more from the participants in our Aspire magazine: https://bit.ly/2Ovxzur

16.01.2022 Today we were thrilled to receive this generous donation from SA Sports Medicine Association towards our Timor-Leste projects Over 30 first aid kits, hundreds of bandages and dressings, saline, creams and more - all which will be sent to the rural schools and communities in Triloka who have little to no medical supplies at all! Thank you SASMA

15.01.2022 In November, whilst the majority of SA's graduating 'Class of 2019’ travel to Victor Harbour for schoolies, nine Nazareth students are instead choosing to under...take faith in action in Bathurst Island. "It is a more deserving and self-investing way to finish the year rather than go to Schoolies. The idea of travelling and building relations with my peers while meeting new people is a real attraction and factor that I absolutely love" - Meg Thomas. 13.01.2022 "We are people of justice... committed to making the world a better place." As they experience and role-model Church in action, Nazareth Outreach Work partic...ipants are living examples of our mission. Over the past week with our Timorese friends, this group have shared joy and shared empathy, shared learnings and helped educate, built community and celebrated relationships. Here's an update on their playground building progress (we can't wait to see the finished product ) and some photos from their recent school visits.

12.01.2022 Today marks the 20th anniversary of Timor-Leste's independence referendum. Although a young nation, Timor-Leste has a has a rich history and culture with many stories to share. Why should we care? Timor-Leste is one of our closest neighbours (a mere 45 minute flight from Darwin)! Love your neighbor as yourself... ... Take the opportunity to understand more about this beautiful country. Here are 3 stories we can all learn from: https://www.abc.net.au//timor-leste-independence-/11456052

12.01.2022 Today, if not for COVID restrictions, a group of 16 Nazareth, graduates and staff would have been unpacking this container with staff of Fundação Lafaek Diak (The Good Crocodile Foundation) in the village of Triloka as part of Nazareth Outreach Work's 9th annual trip to Timor-Leste. It would have been full of essential resources donated by our community such as computers, furniture, clothes, office and medical equipment and supplies bound for schools, training centres, villag...e communities and medical clinics supported by FLD. We would also have been unpacking equipment and resources required for the planned community projects to be undertaken during our two week stay including a community playground and maintenance to the basketball court of the Canossian Training Centre and Boarding House where would have been staying. This visit would have honoured an almost decade long partnership with FLD to support its community, education and health projects in the rural and remote villages across the district of Baucau. For some of us, it would have been our fourth trip to this proud nation and we would have connected with colleagues who have inspired us greatly with their work and have become lifelong friends. We grieve the loss of this opportunity in 2020 because Timor is in our hearts. This experience changes you. This morning, we would have been welcomed on our arrival to FLD by a traditional Timorese celebration involving music, dancing, presentations, speeches and generous hospitality marked by the sharing of a lovingly prepared meal. We would have visited the nearby Maternity Clinic, funded in part by our Nazareth community’s generous fundraising efforts and the adjacent Butterfly Playground funded and built by our 2019 group during last year’s visit. We would then have had lunch and discussed our plans for the upcoming days that will have included visit to school communities, assisting in one of the mobile health clinic visits to remote communities a service made possible by our Community’s support to purchase one and secure the donation of a second 4WD and the annual trip to the remote village of Los Palos to support its local weaving industry. Whilst we couldn’t be there this year, we partnered with Rotary Club of West Torrens to send funds to support FLD’s health promotion initiatives during the COVID outbreak. The container based at the Findon campus is a constant reminder that our commitment to Timor-Leste continues. We will return. Please enjoy these photos from our trip in 2019 and of the project we supported this year to provide handwashing facilities to local villages.

11.01.2022 With generous hearts and open minds, they're off to serve and make a difference! Wishing our Nazareth Outreach Work participants safe travels as they depart... for Bathurst Island this morning. Stay tuned to our page over the next week for more photos when they reach Xavier Catholic College Wurrumiyanga! See more

08.01.2022 "Let your life change the world one person at a time..." Wishing safe travels to our group of volunteers who will spend the next two weeks in Triloka Village, Timor-Leste. Participants will work in collaboration with Fundação Lafaek Diak (The Good Crocodile Foundation) to build upon the work past groups have undertaken in local schools, and construct a third community playground.

08.01.2022 At Nazareth, we invite our community to a deeper relationship with God through engaging and life-giving experiences. There are perhaps none more life-giving ...than the recent outreach immersion some of our community members have just undertaken in Bathurst Island. These newly graduated Year 12s and staff members have been visiting Xavier Catholic College Wurrumiyanga, to spend time with the students. Our community's support of this 8-year relationship has enabled them to create a bright and contemporary sensory learning space!
