20.01.2022 This week at mikids is a week of celebrations! We have Australia Day celebrations where we will be acknowledging the original custodians of this gorgeous land we live in and we will be celebrating the possibilities and fresh start each new year brings, by inviting Uncle Lourie into our centre to do our annual Smoking Ceremony. This coming Friday afternoon, Uncle Lourie will come and cleanse our grounds to prepare us for new beginnings as well as share the Aboriginal and Torre...s Strait Culture by bringing in artefacts to show the children. Authentically, acknowledging and embracing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Culture and people is embedded in the mikids philosophy and for this reason we celebrate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Culture and people throughout the year to show our genuine appreciation and thankfulness for the land that they have looked after for many years and how their sustainable cultural practices influence and inspire us today. 20.01.2022 This is a special introduction to Mikids valuable team members! They live in the Hen house, near the Nursery playground. Our children love visiting them regularly to feed them and collect their eggs. Their names from left to right are: Spotty, Goldie(she gives us blue eggs), Speck and Whitie! See if you can find any eggs next time you are in the car park!

Wishing you all a safe and healthy Christmas from the Mikids team. X See you all in 2021!

06.01.2022 Hi All, I am sure by now most of you will have seen this evenings news and the NSW Health Minister urging all residents of the Northern Beaches to stay home for the next 3 days. As we were during COVID, Mi Kids will remain open to help those that must go to work, however, if you are able to work from home or are not working, can you please take the opportunity not to attend the centre tomorrow? If we all act carefully, we should be able to contain this cluster and minimise any further spread and disruption to our lives and importantly to our upcoming family times over the festive season. Kind Regards, Mel and Ben

03.01.2022 Last day to collect your Mother’s Day card and mug kits for families self-isolating. Hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day this weekend. Stay safe and healthy from Mikids x

01.01.2022 It was fantastic to see our families within the centre again yesterday, it has been a very long time! Thanks to you all for your patience and cooperation throughout this process with COVID-19, it has been highly appreciated!!

01.01.2022 It has been three weeks since Mikids doors have opened again for the New Year! This is what we have been up to. The toddlers have been learning the colours of the Aboriginal flag through a sensory hand print painting. The little hands in the Nursery have been enjoying creating their own sunflower, using collage as a medium. Junior Preschool made playdough and worked as a team in small groups, sharing their ideas about what they could 'cook' with matchsticks, flour and sequins.... The Senior Preschoolers have enjoyed investigating and exploring various types of cicadas through art, science and observations, after finding cicadas in our garden. In the Art Space we have been learning the Aboriginal Dream time story 'How the birds got their colours' by Mary Albert of the Bardi people. The children used charcoal, watercolour paint and black textas to express thier perception of the story. Then we practiced writing Aboriginal symbols in sand. See more
