25.01.2022 This would have to be the worst winter for illnesses that i can recall. In clinic I have seen the flu (as in the real one), horrendous colds, sinus problems and gastro. Everyone I speak to is recovering from something and still has a lingering cough or snotty nose. I would have to say in clinic Sinus related issues has been the most common. 21.01.2022 The human body uses inflammation to help the body heal and to protect itself from further harm. It is a vital process, an immune response to injury or infection. When acute inflammation persists and becomes chronic thats when the problems start. Chronic inflammation plays a role in every major disease, ranging from heart disease to obesity, stroke and rheumatoid arthritis. Inflammation is the most common reason people visit health care practitioners. [ 611 more words ] http://nbip.com.au/2019/07/10/inflammation-good-or-bad/
21.01.2022 Talking all things iron this week with Belle, our incredible Naturopath. Treatment for iron deficiency usually starts with increasing dietary intake of iron. Sources of iron-rich foods include green leafy vegetables, eggs, fish and meat. Pairing these foods with foods high in vitamin C increases the absorption of iron by the body. Some substances inhibit iron absorption including some medications such as antacids, cow’s milk, tea and coffee. These substances should be taken at least 2 hours away from dietary or supplemental iron to facilitate iron absorption and distribution.

17.01.2022 So where are you disrupted? The Genius of EFT EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique is an emotional version of acupuncture WITHOUT the needles. It is a unique therapy used in sessions to enable you to think more clearly about your problem/situation. In recent years however, theres been a growing pool of undeniable research proving what millions of people around the world have known for some time now: that EFT produces real, lasting change and significantly improves or even eliminates symptoms that medication and years of psychotherapy often fail to adequately deal with. 16.01.2022 We live in an age where sensory overload is a daily occurrence. iPads, laptops, smart phones, computer games/consoles, television and many other electronic devices are constantly stimulating our minds and, more detrimentally, our childrens minds. 15.01.2022 Im naturally a nervous person, so believe me when I say Ive tried every trick in the book to calm down when stress gets the better of me. So for me when i was anxious and wasnt sleeping well something like Chinese medicine for stress relief, may have been a better fit than the pills I was prescribed. The concept behind traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is, essentially, that your body already has the tools it needs to heal itself from the inside out. 14.01.2022 We have all heard you are what you eat. When it comes to health and giving our body and mind a resilient composition to step out into the world, the focus must go inwards. 14.01.2022 A Beginners Guide - Principal #1 Our bodies are certainly remarkable. This year 2020, has provided introspection for many, into the world at large, gratitude for the country we live in, focus on family life, and how we individually can influence our immune system and remain healthy amongst uncertainty. 13.01.2022 75% of adults experience moderate to high levels of stress. Stress and anxiety are rampant in our modern lifestyle. Many of us accept it as a normal part of life. In fact, 75% of adults have moderate to high levels of stress. Nearly half said that their stress has increased in the past year. Good stress helps you meet your next deadline. 12.01.2022 Continuing with talking iron levels this week. Depending on the level of deficiency, supplementation may be required to increase the level of iron available to the body for absorption. In conjunction with this, individuals should be monitored and retested again within 2-3 months depending on their symptoms and health picture. Not all iron supplements are created equal! Finding a well tolerated & highly bioavailable source is crucial. During this time, further investigation may also be indicated to rule out other factors such as food allergies, dysfunctional menstrual bleeding and malabsorption. If other causative factors are not addressed, low iron and associated symptoms may continue.

12.01.2022 So often I hear in clinic the words mother and shame linked together. 11.01.2022 Sleep disturbance and insomnia are becoming more prevalent in our society and we are seeing an increasing number of patients in clinic suffering from sleep disorders. During the sleep phase, the body is subject to significant restorative activity which nurtures the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system and the respiratory system. If individuals are not getting enough sleep or if they are not entering all the different phases of sleep including the different stages of REM (rapid eye movement) and NREM (non-rapid eye movement), they will not be getting the therapeutic benefits that restorative sleep brings to those body systems. 10.01.2022 Working as a kinesiologist at our clinic Northern Beaches Integrative Practitioners, I have recently begun to notice a pattern in clinic an all too familiar pattern of burn out as a result of ongoing stress and fatigue creating a pattern of anxiety, panic and overwhelm. 07.01.2022 It's Infertility awareness week, but we tend to use the term sub-fertility around here. Many women are told their fertility challenges make them 'infertile', but to be frank, it's an overused term. Find yourself a practitioner who is your advocate, listens, and investigates. Optimising fertility isn't something to go through alone, and recurrent miscarriage certainly requires attentive support. Free discovery calls are available online to find your best fit.

02.01.2022 I work as an Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner with an interest in Fertility. Commonly, the focus of treatment is on the female partner but what is becoming increasingly evident from the research, is that sperm parameters are in global decline. The making of a baby is equal parts female and male. What this means is there needs to be equal attention on both partners to improve their fertile potential.
