15.01.2022 NCAT Certificate IV in Music Industry students, The Bin Chickens, joined forces with iconic Australian musician Rebecca Barnard (Rebeccas Empire) to tour the Great Ocean Road for three gigs over three epic nights. Lorne Hotel/View welcomed the band with amazing meals overlooking the Lorne main beach at sunset. Two locals jumped in for Better Be Home Soon, and Ballroom Blitz, as usual, was a hit! The show went on at Aireys Inlet pub and went out with a bang at the Belmont Market, Geelong. The Certificate IVs will graduate this Friday at NCAT. 14.01.2022 Yesterday, Certificate III in Music Industry (Sound Production) students were treated to a synthesiser extravaganza at Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio! With access to rare and vintage synths from the 1920s to the now, students created their own sounds and tracked them using Pro Tools, Ableton and Logic software. Hours of creativity and exploration ensued, and our host Matt Watson guided us through the evolution of synths as weve come to know them today. @ MESS Ltd

13.01.2022 Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance) Songwriting Showcase Over 40 students in 9 different bands put on a songwriting extravaganza at the The 86, Fitzroy. Over ten weeks, students collaborated in groups in their genre of preference, with a nominated songwriting leader, to collaboratively develop 1-2 original works. The students developed skills in melody writing, lyric writing, and playing in up to 5-piece bands. The course culminated in an performance at an industry venue, The 86, known for its contribution to the music community through its hosting of cabaret and comedy events for fringe and Melbourne comedy festivals. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to our Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance and Sound Production, First Year) students for their magnificent performances in our new music auditorium! Students performed their arrangements and popular music covers after six weeks of rehearsal. We had everything from alternative rock, acoustic trios and vocal ensembles to 5-piece alternative rock bands and a synth/saxophone extravaganza! Well done to everyone who performed and thank you to our first year sound engineers for the great effort and hard work they put into the sound and stage management!
