23.01.2022 Big thanks to our club's committee who have been working with Surf Lifesaving Australia updating procedures to make sure all our activities and processes for the coming season are covid-safe and meet government guidelines. If you'd like to take a look, the finalised documents are on the website: https://nowraculburraslsc.asn.au/covid-19/

22.01.2022 Important Season Updates - https://mailchi.mp/e3412df76ee6/important-season-updates

20.01.2022 Gear inspection today. Flags go up in 4 weeks time. Thanks to all that helped prepare!

19.01.2022 Way back on the 1st July 1980 Surf Lifesaving Australia approved a change to welcome women as active surf lifesavers and patrolling members in our clubs, rather than just as associate members. This month marks the 40th anniversary of that change and these days 36% of patrolling members on the South Coast are women. Our very own Breeanna O'Donnell featured in the South Coast's SLSC newsletter and here are her thoughts: "I became involved in Surf Life Saving as a nipper in 2007.... I did nippers from under 8s to under 14s and then went on to complete my surf rescue certificate, bronze medallion and recently my gold medallion. I believe diversity is crucial to the success of any organisation and, as a woman in Surf Lifesaving, I feel really empowered about how many opportunities are available to me in roles like leadership, operational and coaching positions. Whether it be the weather, surf conditions, patrons, or marine life, it is safe to say that no day is the same on the beach. In such a challenging and dynamic role, I am made to feel supported and valued. I am very proud to be an active patrolling female lifesaver and I believe there is a great future of women in surf lifesaving." If you know any ladies you think would make great lifesavers encourage them to get in touch and give it a go!

18.01.2022 **THANK YOU ** A huge thanks to our local club, The Culburra Beach Bowlo. After a successful Australia Day celebration we were overwhelmed with a very generous donation of five thousand dollars for our club.... Thank you for your ongoing support. Photos: Club members receiving the donation form Culburra Beach Bowlo President Peter Dwyer and director Jenny Castellan.

18.01.2022 DON'T FORGET: No nippers at Warrain Beach tomorrow as Branch Carnival is on at Warilla SLSC - GOOD LUCK to everyone competing there!

18.01.2022 Not long until flags go up and the Nippers season starts! Have a think if there’s something you'd be able to do to help with running the club this season. There are heaps of opportunities - from committee roles, Age Manager positions, canteen volunteers, uniform sales, equipment maintenance and patrolling members. Many hands make light work and all help is much appreciated.

17.01.2022 Our first day at Warrain Beach this year. Cracking day

13.01.2022 We're all set to go tomorrow morning. Many, many thanks to all our volunteers. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the beach in the morning for the start of a fun season!

10.01.2022 Nippers cancelled today due to weather. Stay dry and warm!

09.01.2022 It's fabulous to get some rain ... but what about some more of this weather?? Hope to see you at the AGM next Saturday - 1st August, 3pm at the Clubhouse - so we can get going on details for the next season. If you've not been to an AGM before why not pop down for this one? All welcome, we're always keen to hear new ideas.

05.01.2022 From 11am this Sunday after Nippers, 2ST and Power FM, along with fellow surf lifesavers and nippers from other South Coast branches, will be joining us for a Christmas promotion to be filmed on Culburra Beach. Let's join in and make them all feel welcome! Nippers please keep your pink vests and caps on and lifesavers please wear your patrol uniform and club caps. Also, bring along any Christmas decorations and tinsel you can get your hands on. Sausage sizzle and drink ...will be provided for all participants. RSVP here: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSccF9tT1OjvLsYEsS/viewform

05.01.2022 Sadly Branch Carnival has had to be cancelled for the 2020/21 season. After weather conditions caused the day to be postponed it has not been possible to find another suitable date. We'll just have to focus on some good competitions for our own club's point score days and lots of fun on our local beach. See you there next Sunday!

05.01.2022 Get your swimmers and goggles ready everyone ... it's nearly time for the Tilbury Ocean Swim!

05.01.2022 Nippers are Go 18 October 2020 - https://mailchi.mp/bede1b9d9/nippers-are-go-18-october-2020

05.01.2022 We found an iPhone at the start of patrol this morning. Call 0410553955 if you think it might be yours

04.01.2022 Subaru keys found in the ATV at club. Sing out if they are yours.

03.01.2022 Important season update: At this point we don't have enough Age Managers to kick the season off on Sunday. Please don't be shy, get in touch and volunteer so we can get things rolling. You don't have to have surf skills yourself to be an Age Manager, this role is about encouraging and supporting our kids and all necessary training is provided. It's a really rewarding role and your own kids will love that you're involved. If every family chooses one thing they can help with it's not too big a burden on anyone. Reply in the comments or send a message if you can help or have any questions and we'll be in touch. :-)

02.01.2022 And right here is the reason why all our volunteers train and patrol and put so much effort into our Club ... Just after midday today a call went out from the Surf Lifesaving Duty officer reporting two girls on SUPs stuck in a southerly swell 1km offshore at Currarong. Josh Pakes responded on South Coast support ski 3 heading out from Warrain beach approximately 20 minutes later. Josh proceeded south to Kinghorne before heading east one kilometre out to sea and began a zig-za...g search pattern looking for the paddlers. Shortly after this the Toll Rescue Helicopter approached overhead and was able to locate the girls 3-3.5km offshore, in line with Lake Wollumboola. Josh proceeded to the site through wind and 1.5-2m swell, with waves often engulfing the jet ski. Club Captain Brad Lilly and Life Member Col Pakes coordinated with appropriate teams from the shore, keeping all informed of activities. Needless to say, the girls were elated to see Josh. The SUPs had to be abandoned due to conditions but the girls were brought safely back to shore. Thank goodness they had packed a mobile phone in a waterproof bag and had been able to initiate the rescue. Check out the video of Josh returning to Warrain Beach with the two girls. A big thumbs up to Josh Pakes and the rest of the call-out crew for a fast and successful response. And remember: always being aware of conditions is very important before heading out into the ocean for any sport.

01.01.2022 Hooray, only six days to go! See you all on the beach for Nippers this Sunday. Send a message if you're keen to help out, kids LOVE having their parents involved and we're here to provide any support and training you need. Become an age manager, water safety or canteen volunteer, patrolling lifeguard, uniform sales, equipment maintenance ... heaps of opportunities.
