25.01.2022 ADCET and Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability - ATEND NSW are looking forward to bringing your our next webinar, titled "Juggling feeling capabl...e and different: A grounded theory of studying at university while living with mental ill-health". While between 20 and 25% of university students are estimated to experience mental ill-health, we've heard little from the perspective of the students themselves about their experiences and the impacts of their ill-health on their studies. This webinar will change that, presenting the data gathered from a study that explored students' experiences with mental illness. The webinar will be held on 10 October from 1pm. Register now to attend this free, live captioned event! [https://www.adcet.edu.au//adcet-webinar-juggling-feeling-/]

10.01.2022 About one in five Australians experience a mental health condition each year - many of these people are students. Mental ill-health can be as debilitating as a ...physical condition, and can impact on a student's studying. Fortunately, there are many assistive technologies available to help students. You can find some of them on our website. [https://www.adcet.edu.au/inclusive/mental-health-condition/]

There are a range of services and equipment that are commonly facilitated by Disability Practitioners as reasonable adjustments for students with Mental Illness. 07.01.2022 "Overall, Australia doesnt have a good track record when it comes to the employment of people with disability, and is ranked twenty-one out of twenty-nine othe...r OECD countries around the world. Not only are people with disability more likely to be unemployed, but many of them feel that employment isnt even a real option." It's a poor but not unfamiliar tale for Sam Flood. Sam is one of the unlucky ones who has been unable to find employment after graduating, despite earning above-average marks and having a genuine passion for the industry. We're trying to change that. Spread the word about Sam and others like him. Read more about his story, and the work that some organisations are doing to help people like Sam, here. #letsfindSamaninternship.
