20.01.2022 Disbudding or dehorning is a painful process for kids and traditionally products like Buccalgesic have been used as pain relief with some but not significant effect. Approved in 2018 for disbudding Tri-Solfen is a big step forward in pain relief for this process. The Tri- Solfen product website says ....... "Tri-Solfen is a topical anaesthetic and antiseptic solution for pain relief for use on lambs following mulesing and tail docking, on lambs and calves during and following castration, and now for use on calves at disbudding and dehorning. Tri-Solfen can be easily applied on-farm as a post-procedure pain relief treatment to surgical wounds. It’s the first product of its kind to address the legitimate animal welfare concerns associated with routine animal husbandry procedures. Tri-Solfen's unique gel formulation can be easily applied on-farm as a one-off treatment to surgical wounds. It contains two proven topical local anaesthetics; fast-acting lignocaine for immediate pain relief and long-acting bupivacaine for prolonged post-operative pain relief. Adrenaline is included for its ability to reduce blood loss, whilst prolonging the anaesthetic action. Tri-Solfen also contains Cetrimide, an antiseptic widely used to cleanse skin and wounds, to provide protection from bacterial contamination. The product's gel base adheres well to the wound and acts as a barrier to environmental stimuli to improve wound healing." Those that have used this product have reported immediate and sustained pain relief making the process far less of an ordeal for the kids.

11.01.2022 I am new to goats and have accumulated 5 ND does (3 x 100%) and 2 x 100% ND bucks very quickly!! I am absolutely in love with this buck tho. He has the best na...ture ever. So placid and easy to deal with and he "talks" quietly whenever he sees me or my partner. Nothing phases him and although he had never seen a dog or a fox before he arrived here, he is quite happy to talk to my Rhodesian Ridgebacks who are mostly bigger than he is!! His name is First Fleet Elliot and he is the only 100% ND buck in Australia with blue eyes so he is pretty special He will be bred to some of our girls later in the year. See more
