25.01.2022 ... ? It is important to note that when a person is affected by a disability, they are not affected alone. Just as a disability affects the person living with it, it also very much impacts their families and carers. There are reported to be 4.4 million Australians living with a disability today. ... 45% of Australians will at some point in their lives experience a mental health condition. Some of these are temporary and can improve with therapies and supports, however many of these are permanent, lifelong conditions. Think about it this way. Next time you are doing your weekly grocery shop, look around you. Potentially, almost half of the people you see while you shop have previously, or are right now struggling with mental health issues. This could be the person waiting at the Deli in front of you, the mother chatting to her friend, the person on the register who is always so friendly and helpful. Mental health is an invisible disability, and impacts heavily on the lives of so many people - and you can never tell. Thank you to Josie from Hexen Ink in Traralgon for use of the original artwork (for more, see instagram: josart23). We welcome shares, please don't copy post.
