25.01.2022 This is a great article from last year that notes the positives of the NDIS and some people's goal for employment and how we need to improve diversity within our communities to ensure that employment goals are attainable - even with NDIS support. Is Employment a goal within your NDIS plan? How do you feel you are being supported towards Employment Goals currently?
24.01.2022 Some people have found that Self Managing their plan is a nightmare - while others see the benefits out-weighing the initial challenges. For anyone that is Self-Managing an NDIS Plan - what is your feedback so far? Is it working? Or are you looking to change to make the NDIS process a little simpler? Always great to hear from people with actual experience!
24.01.2022 If you are looking for NDIS supports, wanting to know more about the NDIS or just wanted to check out a local NDIS provider - have a look at the newly updated Karakan NDIS website. www.karakanNDIS.com.au They have been supporting people in the Toowoomba region since 1994 and have experienced some great growth since the NDIS was rolled out in January. Have a look at their new team members, great stories from their participants and their range of NDIS services.... Contact them via their website if you have any queries.
23.01.2022 How have people been finding Employment Options in their NDIS packages so far? Are people with disabilities looking for local Employment as an option? Open or Supported Employment? Are people aware of the Employment Options available in the region? KBH Enterprises, Endeavour Foundation or Yellow Bridge - are there any others locally?
21.01.2022 Although it has it's issues - it is great to the see the NDIS allowing for organisations to provide new support opportunities where possible. Respite seems to be a major concern within the scheme - have people identified suitable solutions in the Toowoomba area? It would be great to hear what else is available locally....
21.01.2022 A Local Provider asked us to share this opportunity. NDIS participants in Toowoomba aged 12 - 17 are invited to join us on our Cubby Camp these school holidays! Tea-Cup Cottage is a unique disability support provider and our Cubby Camp is an overnight adventure camp for teenagers with a disability. Our expert team of disability support workers will be on hand to support all youngsters throughout the camp and ensure all activities are modified accordingly. 15.01.2022 This is a Great Opportunity to celebrate Disability Action Week with an organisation that has been supporting people with disabilities locally since 1994. The NDIS has allowed for expansion of the KBH Social Enterprise leading to the acquisition of a new building - if you have the time, make an effort to be at their Grand Opening and see the powerful work that they do providing Supported Employment opportunities in the Toowoomba region.
10.01.2022 In Toowoomba - how much do people look to 'The Chronicle' for their news and local advice on all things disability? What would you look for in 'The Chronicle' that might guide you towards the best Disability Provider for you or your family?
10.01.2022 We do love reading the Positive News stories from the roll out of the NDIS and there is so much hope and positivity regarding the 'ideals' of the scheme. Unfortunately, there are still barriers and hiccups as well. What are we finding so far in Toowoomba? How are Providers performing? How are Support Coordinators performing? Let us know!
09.01.2022 Is there anybody you know in the Toowoomba Region that is great at Furniture Restoration and Woodworking and loves to work with people with disabilities? KBH Enterprises has a great opportunity available for someone with such a skill set! Contact them for more details if you, or someone you know, might be interested!

05.01.2022 The NDIS has created new Business Opportunities in the region for support providers? Have you identified any new providers or quality services that have 'popped up' in the area? Let us know any new experiences that you have had with new providers!
04.01.2022 What do you all think of Nadia? The NDIA are looking to trial a Virtual Assistant - voiced by Cate Blanchett to help people as they try to navigate The Portal and engage with the NDIA and hopefully learn more about their option under the NDIS. It is very positive that the NDIA is looking into technologies that will make the portal more accessible - but will it work?
04.01.2022 Some positive changes being made by the NDIA - lets hope we start seeing it in practice!
03.01.2022 Great to hear that some of our local Support Providers are making some headway with the NDIS. How is everyone else in Toowoomba moving along? Steady progress or finding yourself stalled at certain spots? We always love to hear your feedback - sharing your experiences with those that are also somewhere on the NDIS journey.
03.01.2022 So we have been hearing that finding Support Coordination services has been a little bit tricky in the Toowoomba Region. Have you found a good Support Coordinator? Do you want to share their details?
01.01.2022 There are plenty of acronyms around as well as line items and codes and subtle difference between Core Supports and Capacity Building Supports - what has been your most difficult part of getting on board with the NDIS so far? Are the acronyms the least of your concerns? How far along are you with your plan?... It's always great to hear people's experiences as the NDIS rolls on.
