24.01.2022 Better weather today and just like that week 3 has been done and dusted. 3 more to go and the kids are coming along well.

23.01.2022 Our focus this week is on Maliah Abel who run her first Minkey session!!! Congratulations Mae, A fantastic effort to be the first of the coaches to grab this opportunity and keep everything on track.

23.01.2022 NDWHA hosted our last Minkey session for 2020 today and what a great time we have all had over the last 10 weeks. A big thanks to NIHC who sponsors us each season with the turf. This dramatically reduces the fees for our little guys and we return the favour by producing the best program we can. To all the clubs that supported each week and turned up to help, a massive thanks. We can’t run a program as big as this year without volunteers and you guys were awesome. All 13 clu...bs helped out this Summer program. Awesome job guys. This year we nurtured 5 junior players and empowered them with a little more each week. Maliah Abel - Souths Alissa McLeod - Central West Tiarna Tull - Tigers Grace Landers - Oxfords Neve Elliott - Regals Thanks also to Olivier Gibson - Tigers for stepping up on the weeks needed and Abbey from today who was a nice surprise. Hats off to you for filling in quite competently. All these young ladies stepped up to the unknown and grew in stature each week. A special mention to Mae, Alissa and T who hosted their own session while I floated around doing nothing!! No photos this week, I was too busy handing out medals. I welcome you all back next season and will be sending out ‘what’s next’ emails soon. Thanks Sharon

22.01.2022 SPECTATOR RESTRICTIONS EASED FOR GRAND FINALS Following today's announcement by the NSW Government, players participating in Newcastle Junior Hockey Grand Final matches can now have TWO parents/guardians attend as spectators. Please refer to your Clubs for more information. For those family members and friends who still miss out, each Grand Final on Friday night AND Saturday morning will be shown LIVE on Bar TV (see link below). ... https://www.bartvsports.com.au/com/newcastle-junior-hockey/

21.01.2022 IMPORTANT: Please Read. Due to an event at Hunter Stadium, we won’t have access to the carpark for tonight’s junior matches. Everyone will need to look for parking in the side streets on the other side of Turton Road.

17.01.2022 Best dressed umpire in the semis hands down. Well done Jacqui Cook. Could probably share some life lessons with your sister

15.01.2022 Winners are grinners. Souths defeated Tigers 1-0 in 3rd grade United 1 defeated Regals 4 in 4th grade Y2 defeated Oxfords 6 in 6th grade. Congrats to everyone involved

If you want more information, please email [email protected] and instructions will be provided.

14.01.2022 Due to the current COVID environment and likely restrictions on spectator numbers at our junior Grand Finals, NDWHA is exploring the option of streaming the Grand Final matches via Facebook LIVE. If you, or someone you know, has professional experience in this area, please email us at [email protected]

13.01.2022 What a great last week at Minkey. Thanks to Alex for running the sessions and all the Premier League clubs for helping out. Summer Minkey starts soon. Contact [email protected] for more info.

12.01.2022 It's Finals time ... Premier League will see Oxfords take on Central on Saturday 3pm for a place in the Grand Final against Gosford. 3rd & 5th grade on Monday night at 6.30pm and 4th, 6th & 2nd Grade on Tuesday night from 6.30pm.

12.01.2022 Not even a change of field, the coach forgetting the hats OR the rescue helicopter coming into land could dampen the enthusiasm this week at Minkey

12.01.2022 Oxfords held off a very determined Central to win 4-0. Central threw everything in attack in the first half and Ash T penetrated the circle dangerously on 5 occasions alone. Casey Cocking was weaving magic in the midfield but they couldn’t crack the scoreboard. Oxfords threatened on a breakaway and converted on their only trip into the circle in over 12 minutes. They ran away with the win after Central was a little deflated and looked tired in the last quarter. Result def...initely didn’t reflect the solid defensive display by Central. Oxfords 4, Central 0 Phoebe Bloink Hollier 1 Dana Constable 2 Natalie Strawhorn 1 See more

07.01.2022 Please be advised an updated draw for the Senior Competition will be released to Clubs during the first week of September. The games which were postponed due to the NIHC being closed for our safety will be played on the Tuesday night after the October long weekend. NDWHA would like to thank members who continue to follow the COVID safety plans and the requests of duty officers at NIHC. Hockey and Newcastle continue to lead the way in ensuring the safety of its members. Just... a reminder for training nights it is get in, train and get out. At competition games we encourage you to ensure you maintain your social distancing both pre-game, during game breaks and post-game. We continue to encourage no spectators at this stage or if you are the guardian of an under 18 player only one guardian to attend. This assists NIHC and the associations to ensure we follow the COVID safety plans. See more

06.01.2022 Look at those clouds coming in!!! Week 2 of Minkey and we are still growing. FanTastic news. Session cut short due to the wind and rain that came in but still a lot of happy kids out there. See you all for week 3.

05.01.2022 It is so important that we follow COVID-Safe practices on NDWHA Grand Final Day tomorrow. Please do your part as a player, official and/or spectator by self-monitoring your behaviours both on and off the field. #hockeynewcastlecares

04.01.2022 Hockey NSW has released the dates and locations for 2021 State Championships. If you think your child may be selected in one of the NDWHA Representative Teams, we strongly recommend you book accommodation now as some of the locations are small country towns with limited options.

04.01.2022 The Master and the apprentice ... we’re looking forward to a stellar match between Oxfords and Gosford in tomorrow’s Grand Final. 6.00pm hit off. Come along and be COVIDSafe.

02.01.2022 Parking is going to be awful for Newcastle hockey players tonight and tomorrow. Please allow extra time to find a park (try some of the side streets on the other side of Turton Road) or ask someone, really nicely, if they can drop you off and pick you up. NIHC tries its very best to negotiate parking with the Stadium but unfortunately we don't have much luck. ... Be safe and we'll see you at the Centre.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to all teams in this weekend's Grand Final matches. Due to current COVID protocols, only one parent per player will be allowed access to the Hockey Centre and will require a 'ticket' to enter. However all Grand Final matches will be shown LIVE on Bar TV. Details to be published in the coming days. Please remember (before you post negative comments below) - you may not agree with the restrictions in place, but we ask you to respect the process and people responsible for having to make very complex and difficult decisions.

01.01.2022 A change of field and surrounds didn’t stop us this week at Minkey.
