23.01.2022 Is your woodheater an accident waiting to happen??? When was the last time your flue was cleaned? * ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** * Do you have any creosote (soot) or water falling on the top of your appliance?... Is your flue cowl built up with creosote or soot? Does your fire go out prematurely overnight leaving fuel unburnt in your firebox? Does your woodheater smoke excessively when you opened the door to reload your firebox? Do you have creosote (soot) falling onto your roof? Does your woodheater door glass stay black when your appliance is in operation? Do you hear things falling down your woodheater flue whether is in use or not? Have you used timber that was still damp or green? Ie; moisture or foaming from your timber when it burns? Does your woodheater struggle to ignite when starting? Have you ever used a chemical, packet, sachet cleaner or burnt aluminum cans to clean your flue? If you answered yes to any of these questions you need to have your woodheater inspected and cleaned professionally before next winter. The CFA attends hundreds of flue and chimney fires every winter, don't let their next call out be to your house.

22.01.2022 Just a few of our close call jobs this year as well as a few that have had flue and chimney fires. We have had to condemn 7 woodheaters that where either burnt out or weren't installed properly causing water leaks that had rusted out the baffle plates and fireboxes rendering the appliance a dangerous item. An average of 40% of these clients were using or had used a chimney cleaning product that gets advertised quite heavily during winter period. These products don't work and ...give people a false sense of security which can be dangerous. If the top of your flue looks anything like these please cease using the appliance and have it serviced and cleaned professionally. Stay warm but stay safe. See more

20.01.2022 Im so glad these homeowners called us regarding this job. An old heatcharm fireplace insert that was a death trap waiting to happen. We filled a wheelie bin full of creosote from this chimney because the heater was unflued. This is the second of two dangerous woodheater installations this week both heaters and there installations i have had to deem dangerous. With covid19 and the financial struggle thats coming with it we are seeing a lot of heaters that are unsafe. Most are homeowners that have recently bought homes with little or no history on the dwelling. If this creosote had ignited they can smolder unknown for weeks till they find an oxygen supply which would then have escalated in minutes. Please get your woodheater checked and serviced regularly.

18.01.2022 Nectre rear flued wood heater dangerously installed in front of a chimney. The liquid creosote spatter and build up is a clear sign that it was only a matter of time before this wasn't installed properly and with time would have had a serious and potentially deadly house fire. Subsequently this appliance was deemed a dangerous item and removed and replaced with a new model fitted to Australian safety standards. If you see anything like this around your appliance or creosote (soot) on the top of your freestanding heater please cease using it and have it inspected and serviced before further use.

14.01.2022 This family was extremely lucky on the weekend and thanks to fast response from the local fire brigade in wahgunya averted a possible deadly situation. This old Saxon wood heater was shoddily repaired by a shonky repair man and nearly cost these people there house and lives. The rear of the firebox was burnt out and dodged up with scrap tin and the door and window seals were not in safe working order. Sparks from a flue fire and creosote were spread across the roof and were ...close to igniting leaf litter on the verandah and gutters. The appliance has been condemned and deemed unsafe for use and not to be lit again. Please get your woodheater cleaned and inspected regularly and if your firebox is cracked cease using the appliance and have it checked. If door and window seals are perished have them replaced immediately by an experienced repairer. See more

06.01.2022 We're back for 2021 cleaning those choked up flues. Save on those dodgey chemical cleaners that don't work, increase the efficiency of your appliance and reduce the chance of a dangerous flue fire. Get your woodheater ready for the upcoming winter

01.01.2022 Due to covid19 border closures between Victoria and NSW coming into place we may not be able to service our clients in southern NSW from tomorrow night until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience. Stay warm. Stay safe
