16.01.2022 Fishing on Skye Loch Pooltiel Pooltiel is a small loch often overlooked when travelling to Neist Point. Instead of turning right when heading to Neist continue straight on to Lower Milovaig. You will see a small pier about halfway along the loch, this is where you are heading for. Parking here is ample and usually pretty quiet.... Fishing with spinning gear will produce Pollock up to around 4lb to the usual methods. Watch for the kelp beds closer in as these can be snaggy if fishing deep. A great chance to pick up some mini species here especially if you have kids with you, fishing flakes of mackerel or bits of mussel on a size 10 hook straight down the side of the rocks will produce a multitude of wrasse, rockling, blennys and immature pollock. Fishing on the bottom here with beachcasters will produce Cod, Thornback, Dogfish, Spurdog, Pollock, Dabs and Conger. Casting from the boat toward the waterfall on the far side should see you in the deepest water. Ground is fairly clean with little impact from the tide. A fast retrieve when close to the shore is advised just to get some momentum over the kelp. A great choice if Neist is unfishable and the weather is bad, loch Pooltiel is usually sheltered from the elements. We offer a great day out on the Loch , professional or novice fisherman! Fantastic experience for children to see what's living in the sea and hiding in our creels or catch sight of whales and dolphins.
