05.01.2022 Employers are now required to apply the compounding approach when calculating the pay of their casual employees who work overtime. Historically, the Electrical Award was interpreted to apply the cumulative approach. However in the recent determination, the Fair Work Commission found that the compounding approach should be applied to casual employees covered by the Electrical Award starting 20 November 2020. 02.01.2022 NECA welcomes the Government announcement today regarding the introduction of a Round Two for The Business Costs Assistance Program for eligible businesses located in metropolitan Melbourne, under which the support will be doubled from $2,500 to $5,000. However, NECA has expressed their disappointment to the Treasurer that the eligibility rules do not consider our industry. NECA has taken a strong stance and is calling on the Victorian Government to reconsider the eligibilit...y requirements or to expand the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package to those small and medium size businesses who are currently ineligible, but who are prohibited to work in occupied premises. With our industry significantly skewed towards small and medium sized business volumes, NECA will continue to lobby for these businesses, remembering that they have already been disadvantaged earlier this year in a similar fashion, when our industry ANZSIC codes were excluded from the eligibility rules of the Business Support Fund 3 support package.
