09.01.2022 It’s time to slow the pace down from our weekly adventures with Stan and introduce some other locals, this time from the Kiewa Valley. The butcher, the baker and the candlemaker; just some of the people that make our region so special.

08.01.2022 KING VALLEY GRAVEL Cheshunt cyclist Bruce Baxter and Rural City of Wangaratta Deputy Mayor Harry Bussell are excited about King Valley Gravel (video ta...ken pre-lockdown) - a project that will see 500km of gravel road riding trails mapped and signed throughout the King Valley. To launch the trails there will be a two day event on May 1 and 2. May 1 will be a family day for locals looking at trying the growing sport, while "King GRAValley" on May 2 will be for more experienced riders. Register your interest here: https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/promo/king-valley-gravel Gravel road riding has grown rapidly in popularity and the King Valley is already known as one of the premiere destinations. The King Valley was impacted by both bushfires in January 2020 and Covid-19 throughout the rest of the year, devastating the local tourism industry. Cyclists are expected to travel from all over Victoria and interstate to experience the event and to use the trails in an ongoing way. The project is jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian Governments through a Community Bushfire Recovery Grant.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to Nicky, Dale and the team at North East Coachlines! They are one of the 64 successful groups to receive a Business and Community Recovery Gra...nt from Council. Tell us about you and your business? North East Coachlines is a Wangaratta based bus company since 2012. We strive to provide a Positive Friendly Professional and Flexible Service. Our services include Winery, Snowfield and Accommodation transfers in North East Victoria specializing in the King Valley. We also offer Wedding, School and Sporting group transfers. Dale and Nicky are both long term locals in North East Victoria. Dale with extensive tourism experience in extreme Snow and Central Australian conditions grew up in Mount Beauty and has a wealth of local knowledge he is more than happy to pass on to anyone who will listen. Nicky grew up in Cheshunt at the top of the King Valley, raising her family and working in Wangaratta she still considers the Swinburne family farm her King Valley home. Starting out as a snow operator to Falls Creek and Mt Hotham, we are here to support the local community. Local residents, schools, sporting groups and in particular supporting our King Valley Wineries and Breweries with the growing number of visitors to the region. Keeping our beautiful home accessible and safe. What are your plans for grant money: Thanks to the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Business and Community Recovery Grants Program we plan to update our website with new imagery and information on our King Valley services using local photographer and web designers. This will include an easy to use booking system and payment options both in our e-commerce store and eftpos facilities for pre-booked transfers on pick up. Social media training is long overdue and will help in our endeavor to get visitors off our increasingly busy roads and onto a bus. How it will benefit our community? By providing updated information on our King Valley and regional services along with an easy, user friendly booking system we hope to encourage visitors to use our bus service for Winery, Brewery and Accommodation transfers. Hop on hop off in the King Valley giving freedom of choice and personalized itinerary. More visitors using a bus service will reduce traffic on our King Valley and regional roads.Keeping roads safe for our local residents while allowing visitors to relax and safely access local Wineries, Breweries and other attractions.
